Let me know what you guys thought of the Phantom Liberty trailer. I think it looks awesome! Can’t wait for September.
I'm super excited for Phantom Liberty! It's sad that it'll be the only expansion for the game so I'm expecting Blood & Wine quality!
Someone throw me into Mikoshi for 3 months and get me out for preload
I kind of miss the blue hair. It was funny to imagine basically an e-girl as president. Though I'm thankful for this video and this new dlc. I've been itching to know more about President Myers and the NUSA.
I thought that maybe the timeline passed 3 years or something like that and seeing some in world lore that there’s a border between the NUSA and free states happening there and maybe the crashing of Air Force One in Night City, that this lady was actually the vice president or someone who was important in the NUSA. And then it’s revealed that she is president Rosalind Myers of all people. Truly the media appearance of Myers was that she resembled a green haired e girl. I guess the media in Cyberpunk 2077 is so manipulating that she resembles someone so differently than it it’s picture. But it makes sense to dress very professionally in the career you’re serving yourself within. A president of both a divided country and a corporation. In one.
That is a dope vibe ngl lol not even mad about it
It seemed super out of place IMO, She was the CEO of Militech before being president not a street kid.
Not my president lol
All I wanna know is can I get dat poontang?
It’s a good day when we get more cyber punk lore
Yeah ESPECIALLY when it comes to Militech. !!! 😁
Johnny was the perfect fall guy militech, couldn't have worked out better for them.
Yeah they really planned it out well, smart corpo chooms they are
Was he though? He wasn’t the leader nor involved much. Johnny was killed with the response/distraction team during the assault. He didn’t actually do much. Morgan Blackhand was the real leader. Johnny being fixated on Adam Smasher was part of the chip being damaged during the Heist, leading to him filling gaps with fantasy. So much of his flashbacks don’t make sense
@@TheMelancholicWriter Johnny likely had the mouth and ego to have everyone fixated on him during the event, becoming said fall guy. Helps that he already raided Arasaka earlier due to Alt.
Honestly Arasake has lots to gain having the states of the US being independent and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were the ones who caused a lot of the conflict between the states and the reformed USA.🤔🐱
Makes ya think, huh?
-Probably Johnny.
I think the issue Arasaka and others have is that a reunified US will inevitably return to being a superpower in time.
@ColonelBragg that's the plan I would think
Bring night city and Texas back in
Let them do what they want as they kinda do in real life
Stretch militec and industry throughout the Midwest recruiting or destroying nomads and boom
NUSA would be up there
@@ausinasmith96 All Nomads would probably be forced to settle or destroyed eventually.
@@ausinasmith96 That type of thinking is litterally anti-thetical to America. Do you vote Democrat by chance?
Just beacuse Nomads, Texans, and the rest, operate independently, doesnt mean the whole continent suffers.
America since its founding, has been designed to run like the EU, but instead of countries, its states. States are supposed to be as autonomous as possible.
The US aint becoming a superpower just because its unified.
I think its safe to argue that in the modern day, if the federal government being minized would be a net positive.
States should decide how welfare, taxes, laws, and the rest, is managed. Not the feds. This is an arguement of efficiency, not morals.
Someone in Texas shouldnt be driven into poverty because a clown in California decided their personal perspective was superior.
Lowkey Cyberpunk reminds me how Commiefornia took years tryna implement an HSR, but failed miserably and wasted billions.
Meanwhile Texas doesnt give af, and just hired Japanes engineers directly from the Shinkansen project. While the project just started, their already progressing well in their project.
Kinda reminds me of Brightline in Florida. Also SpaceX/Tesla in Texas.
Kinda like how Texas hired Arasaka to defend themselves from the feds
Hey man, I just wanted to let you know that I'm grateful you don't put music or loud noises in these videos. It is a blessing since I listen to all of them as podcasts when I go to bed. Keep up the good work.
This is a big deal for me too. I get put off lore playlists for this very reason!
man the divergent of Cyberpunk is alot closer to our timeline in a way than Fallout and that's spooky
Yeah just look at things like Apple Vision and Nueralink. Those devices are bound to cause problems.
We haven't yet seen Lockheed Martin lobbing missiles at Mitsubishi.
@@chinguunerdenebadrakh7022"yet"
Deus Ex has always been the most eerily accurate.
Well no because in the cyberpunk universe the Soviet Union still exist and the US were the ones who collapsed the 1990s. It's literally the exact opposite of our timeline.
I think Cyberpunk lore, as a whole from start to now, has become equally as amazing to me as the lore of Warhammer 40k has always been. I knew about Cyberpunk a bit as a kid in the early 1990s and teen in the late 1990s, early 2000s, but now really diving into the lore as an adult? This makes me feel like a kid at times with goosebumps.
I'm starting to wonder... maybe letting Myers die after the crash would have been the better choice story-wise...
That's what I did. Perfect option, don't waste time on this bs.
@@bdleo300 😂 dawg you spent money on an expansion to not play it?
If I'm not mistaken, there's a theory that not saving her will lead to a war between BARGHEST & NUSA, which will lead to more deaths
@@godemperorletoatreidesii6971 thats the good ending of the dlc tbh
@@godemperorletoatreidesii6971
>buy the expansion

The NUSA did also reconquer Northern California, The only free states left are Night City and Texas. Well Alaska is currently a question mark.
What about the Western Corp States and the Western States? Look at the map from the Nomad intro.
@@iamvmotherfucker That is part of the NUSA it was reorganized into those western corporate states so Militech would have a playground. Night City and Texas are the only two free states left.
Isn't there also the Cascadian Federation or whatever it's called?
@@negative6442 I think that is from something else, The NUSA has reclaimed all the former American territory by 2077 with the exceptions of Night City and Texas
@@ColonelBragg I remember seeing a map where the Northwest was its own thing
Please never stop doing these Cyberpunk Lore videos, they are excellent
Personally really excited for phantom liberty and what secret Myers (apparently) has. Also her character is interesting as well.
I really, really love the redesign for Myers. It aligns with her background so much better. I for one am actually excited to see where it goes as Arasaka has been for forefront with Cyberpunk 2077 and it would be nice to get more background on the other Corps-- here's hoping Myers isn't one-note and incredibly politically savvy to always feel like she's 1 question from betraying you if it helps her in any way.
Same! Love the redesign as well. So excited for PL, really looking forward to these new characters.
Morgan Blackhand (aka Mike Pondsmith himself), was actually the sponsor/patron of Silverhand, after leaving the band Samurai. Hence why Johnny was the one who attacked the building in 2077, but Blackhand was the one who got the team together.
He was also the one who paid for and provided the nuke used in Arasaka HQ.
(The lore was revised, just giving you a heads up. Great video tho, choom. Just got a new sub!)
Also, Arasaka and Kang Tao were the two corps who supported the opposition forces during the Unification Wars.
Thus the President was afraid of open war against Japan, Taiwan, China and Korea, not just Japan.
It was because of Kang Tao blowing its financial load on the support, that the once Taiwanese Owned Corp, was bought out by Chinese Owners.
This is why there are so many different groups in multi-ethnic Night City, and in the books, was the reason behind Sino-Japanese prejudice across the NUSA
You realize Johnny is an extremely unreliable narrator about the events of 2023 yeah?
The story the engram tells is false, while he believes it wholeheartedly, he isn't telling the truth
You could play that campaign yourselves, and what you played was the real lore that mattered. It's a nice get-together mission to end Stormfront.
There were 3 strike teams, and multiple nukes Johnny’s was one of them
Neat fact the only place to have original night city architecture is Pacifica cause it was outside the blast radius only effected by sounds waves blasting out windows
Never thought about that, pretty neat
Would've been interesting if you could spin the events of the Arasaka bombing as something that would make Silverhand a "secret national hero" (as it collared Militech, pushed away Arasaka and ended the war) in order to convince the FIA to try and preserve him instead of not even trying. Would be a nice twist to give the unapologetic deserter such a drastic change of title, I'm sure Johnny would want to violently puke at that remark, but all the same play along in order to have a chance at life
Night city is a literal meat grinder. Like mega city one
Probably because Night City is inspired by Mega City
@@michaelm9975wait, seriously?
Oooh new @WiseFish Cyberpunk video! Let's freaking go!!🔥🔥
"You sir, are a fish."
A. Morgan (1899)
Appreciate all of the excellent work on these videos. Really helping me appreciate how eerily prescient Pondsmith et al were about the future. The “Gang of Four” idea is just…Wew.
I have to say that if I have to choose between NUSA and Arasaka, I’m joining the NUSA.
Me too. I think that the Corpos aren’t that bad, but once they start messing with the USA/NUSA, they’re getting payback.
turd and a shit situtation
least it gives a semblance to democracy... and with enough coercion a semblacne can be forced into legitimacy.
100%, New Merica it is
Im going to russia
Fantastic video man! You put out some of the if not the best lore content out there.
Bro, that last part had me trippin. I thought I missed a whole ass part of the game, but you’re talking about the upcoming DLC
Interesting..great video and really appreciated. I don't know a lot about the cyberpunk lore but this made me even more pumped to learn, and, for the new expansion!
Your timing is impeccable.
A little bit of lower you forgot to mention is that the new Republic of Texas is the second most powerful nation in the world,
thank you for the b-roll they helped a lot
Awesome video! It totally captivated me for the entire two hours.
Pretty neat content, especially before Phantom Liberty rolls in. Myers do seem like a complex character, but as the politician she does pretty much the same thing as the rest of them, acting like their personal interests and the interests of the country is the same thing. So it's safe to treat her just like any other run of the mill politician - as untrustworthy sociopath.
Another great video thank you so much
Really good video. Subscribed!
I love the trailer for phantom liberty, I’m happy we’re seeing some more long term effects of Soulkiller, a possible cure as well but what’s the price?
My guess is getting Night City under President Myers rule, but will have to see I guess
I hope so, because if Johnny is the price for a cure, he’s my ride or die now, I won’t and simply can’t let that happen.
@@WiseFishProbably to just become another Adam Smasher. They save your life but you serve them now.
Reading this comment after finishing the ending. Oh, choomba, holy hell..
@@xavi_ Ah shit, not good….
Spectacular video really resisting the urge to replay the game before the DLC.
Well I'm sure we were gonna get a lore video about thr current president of NUSA eventually and here we are.
Also CDPR has confirmed a new ending for PL depending on the choices u make & for President Mylers involvement in 2077, it'll take place around Late July - Early August 2077 before the final decision maker at the end of the game
The question isn't if Meyers would/will try to create another "Songbird"(depending on your choices in PL), but how many she'll try to make and how FUBAR things will get.
I cant wait for more lore videos for Cyberpunk 2077. Really hope we get some smaller bonus content stuff as the years go on leading to the sequel 🙏
The Phantom Liberty trailer got me to start a 3rd play through.
I love Escape From New York!
Looking forward to this expansion 🫡
Imagine giving Johnny Silverhand to enemy of Arasaka. Militech and NUSA lied to V, they maimed him/her because they were too efficient and stated as danger to them. They extracted Johnny from shard and they will use him to force upon Alt AI once more to take control over Blackwall.
Wow so much lore! Thanks
"An AI named Songbird"
Yeeah.. time to update this video i think :D You can also add the events at NCX (maybe? not sure which ending would be 'canon')
Always thought it was strange where you see these massive Arasaka and Militech buildings right beside each other in corpo plaza.
17:49 always love hearing my country in some lore.
I'm not exactly a big fan of the NUSA but come on, the alternative is goddamn Arasaka.
Don't fear the reaper
To be honest, looking at what a lot of US States would get up to if they were by themselves, with tons of attempts at reviving old laws that predate the Civil War and whatever the fuck Southern States get up to on a daily bases...
Maybe Myers was right. There needs to be a Federal control over a lot of the States. Preferably not a Dictator like Myers, but she seems better than the alternative.
Damn if the game gave me the option to shtoop the prez… I’d do it. Like is it just me or is she unbelievably bad?
and put arasaka in her place?? nahhh theres always gonna be a corrupt leader on top, tbh myers is probably one of the better ones cos sht goes down when theres a war brewin
I'm so excited for phantom liberty
Phantom Liberty got some Escape From NY plotline going on and I'm so stoked
This video is great love how you used the game yo tell the story
President Mommy
It's going to be very interesting
Amped for Phantom Liberty so much!
I was there for the Arawakan Tower bombing, it was wild
So hyped for his expansion and what it means for cyberpunks world.
Nice video. I am just curious of the bit at 21:14 onwards. For the meeting between Saburo and Myers to happen, the Relic should go back to Arasaka. In gaming terms, in means the ending where V is either going to die or become an engram in Mikoshi. Guess all of the above will depend on the story in Phantom Liberty, and possibly on our decisions.
All considered, I am really looking forward for the DLC
Yeah, I don't get how the Arasaka ending especially (or any ending, really) leads to V going to Dogtown to rescue Meyers? That's the Devil ending for a reason, and V really loses out the worst in that one. As far as I heard, the whole DLC takes place before any ending.
A month late but in the video I’m sure he meant it as a hypothetical ending to what Myers would do if you as V chose the Arasaka ending. Yes as far as I’m aware the dlc takes place before the endings since Johnny is seen accompanying V throughout the trailers. So the story would be like this: V gets the biochip, does some stuff and eventually goes to dog town and meets Myers, and then as the devil ending is a hypothetical where Myers makes a deal with Saburo, however it still all depends on the ending you choose
when you dive into the lore like this one can't help but feel a little pity for arasaka for being the short end of the stick for what happened during the corpo war
I love cyberpunk man such a good story
I love cyberpunk, I use the slang everyday lol
Most of the people in the comments sections are cheering to live like this or Fallout. But would be crying and panicking is these things happened to them.
Especially if you get kidnap by maelstrom or scavengers
So like fallout?
Plus you got worse gangs out there that aren't in the video game adaptation
The parallels between cyber punk nusa & modern America are 😂 😂😂
Not really there.
@@baneofbanesa massive country that goes to war to benefit their defence contractors and kill countless innocent people whilst acting like they are the good guys 😂
Yeah not similar at all 😅
I can't wait for phantom liberty
I really like the idea of the Nusa because it comes with a moral dilemma V is technically in a position to guide the hand so Myers can take over Nc and on paper it doesn't sound bad, but remember in this universe United States is super corrupt with no issue invading other countries for personal gain. V is gonna have to make a choice does she support president myers which can lead to Nc being taken over or let Nc be ta independent state that so many people wanted because the government was so corrupt.
That is a thinker.
I would let Night City be taken over by Myers if it gets V the cure, and he is able to survive, and be with Panam.
"in this universe (cyberpunk 2077) the USA is super corrupt with no issue invading other countries"
@@generalfluffyprotowhy would we even consider helping Nusa reabsorb NC, other than if they offer a cure?
@@fromthefire4176 If war breaks out I don't think V is gonna have a choice if he wants to participates or not.
Here's a question: knowing what we know about the presidents of the Nusa (not counting those assassinated), who would you have voted for? Elizabeth Kress or Rosalind Myers?
Elizabeth Kress
To paraphrase Geralt of Rivia(Witcher 3): It’s like choosing either the pestilence or the plague.
We eatin good today boys
My day is restored
ok guys, this is a cautionary tale, NOT A BLUEPRINT
I think the most unrealistic thing in cp2077 is the idea that Texas would take funding from arasaka/Japan. We all know they'd be too damn proud to do that
I got a feeling that the corrupt officials do it but keep it hidden making the citizens believe that Texas is mostly self funded
That’s not a bad thing. :)
We Texans usually prefer to stand our ground.
ROMANCE OPTION ROMANCE OPTION ROMANCE OPTION (monke noises)
i skipped all the romance shit in 2077, but if they add one for her...
I hope we can get that White kyubi rifle the president is using in the trailer
NUSA? More like "Noot noot"
I can't wait for your lore on the new dlc!!!! Although I can never play it cause I'm a old gen console player... fml
We're eating good this year on game releases
I knew Cyberpunk had lore. I just didn't think it was this deep!
Yeah, it is pretty deep, and we not even talkin about those good smaller stories in whole Night City. Really impresive World. :)
More Cyberpunk Politics. Fantastic.
Well at least you know what you will get from her
I'm suprised Texas hasn't become independent in real life
More peak by our resident fish man :D
Do songbird next
An Independent Texas that would be the dream i wish i really wish
Mmhm.
Welp, I messed up that fourth term aspiration for her. OOps lol!
I hope this wont be a reoccurring theme for v (us) were we are continually told by other A.I. or factions that they can save our lives only for it to be half baked just to pull us along like dogs tbh
CDPR is probably putting some nice touches on the expansion. Probably why they chose September.
17:12 Texan suicide bombers. I can definitely see that happening.
Well, it serves Myers right for crash landing in Dog Town, maybe she will change her tune after being on the ground in the worst possible place.
she has the best character introduction in the entire fanchise. she reminded me of the Woman i used to serve with in the military.
Hopefully you had played the new DLC and changed your mind. Myers is far from being a good woman. LOL
Seems better than what we've been getting lately, lol.
Cuberpunk’s world is so incredibly fascinating and fucked up
Did i miss a part when the NUSA removed term limits, or am i going crazy?
17min in gotta say i never thought Texas would have suicide bombers.
Love the lore video btw.
I know right. I was wondering what in the fresh hell would drive Texans(whether be in reality or some fictional universe) to do such things.
Here so I can learn about myers before phantom liberty tomorrow night
I’d love to see a second cyberpunk game without the hiccups of the first but with cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle would be places that are able to be traveled to or have a place in the story
One City was a nightmare to make i wouldn't hold my breath unless they were procedurally generated.
@@pegcity4evaFuck that, Night City never wouldve turned the way it did without the human touch
Rosalind Myers is controversial like almost everyone in Cyberpunk...
While her actions had solid point, its obvious she was extremelly authoritarian in her methods. It's clear that methods like that hurt some innocent people lives along the way.
I think Misty is the only pure good character in series.
The irony is given the state of the world is kinda justified for the greater good of the country. With the country fractured inevitable that the free state would be eventually absorbed by the other powers.
It's like how many more innonence will die and how much worse the lives of people be when you're a conquerored nation.
@@RexZShadowI'm sure the millions killed in Iraq for imaginary greater good agreel, I'm sure if it was your loved ones you'd be saying the same thing,
@@SergyMilitaryRankings Great job bring up something completely irrelevant to the topic. Yes war with another country is same as maintaining or reunification of a country so they don't get absorbed by other super powers.
@@RexZShadow it's not irrelevant, it's showing how moronic the greater good argument is, that excuse has been used by countless dictators and brutal regimes and in the end NUSA is no better than the ones they were fighting, it's like the Ukraine situation, why help Ukraine when they are no better than Russia.
@@SergyMilitaryRankings No shit if its a lie its pointless but I meant it as the literal greater good. In the world of cyber punk the NUSA being united is literally better than being split apart when their are so many powerful enemies in the world.
There no benefit to the people for being split like this in the world of cyberpunk. Just because for the greater good is misused a lot doesn't mean there isn't actually a greater good to things.
i really hope we get another ending with the new DLC with Militech Backed V storming Arasaka tower
All Corpos are scum.
From a game play perspective. How do our campaign choices affect the dlc? I chose the Panam option over the Arosoka one.
Better to start a new campaign all together.
The funny part about America backstory is happening right now 😂 Simpson theory again 😂😂😂
I really hope the President while talking to V admits that they use Johnny as a pawn because he was too dumb to look at the anything else but Arasaka. He tried to brush off how he got the nuke When asked by rogue, if I'm remembering it correctly.... Almost like he knew militech was using him against Arasaka for the fourth corporate war... For a woman that he killed because of his brashness of pulling her plug out.
i really wane play cyberpunk right now waiting blows hahaha
I feel like the introduction’s description of America might be exactly what the future holds, maybe replacing Europe with more developing nations.
Is phantom liberty going to take place before the final mission? Or are they going with a cannon ending? I cant see how they are going to put so much work into achieving specific endings then ret-conning all that.
should take place before the final mission as NUSA is offering V a cure to do this mission
Time to upgrade PC
She was the reason i sided with Songbird and helped her escape. a shame Reed had to die but ultimately he had a choice he chose to remain Myers attack dog even after she betrayed him.
I agree..
I like how Pondsmith writing in the 70s and 80s didn't expect the meteoric rise of China, so the "big bad" megacorps are American and Japanese instead of American and Chinese.
Like almost any other cyberpunk writer I know of. Seems like Japan was the big thing back then
Cyberpunk as a whole is a commentary of geopolitical predictions that are majorly outdated now.
