Agreed 😂 I can't stop watching it! Makes sense where he blast Meg's with arm cannons instead of risking his life and primes life! The 86 movie should have thought things thru but this is great! What kills me and I can't stop watching is where prime slaps on cap and has his luggage lol!
First off: Your animation has gotten even better, amazing work. Second: The skits are hilarious, I actually laughed out loud to each of them. Third: These reviews are great. I got recommended your Blue streak and Smoke screen review around seven months ago and since then I've been an active viewer. I also credit that review to my new found love of transformers and have started a little collection of my own, with some custom work to boot. Easily one of my favourite channels on TH-cam right now. Thanks for the content!
Brilliant opening. Loved the Prime retirement. I agree about having more time with Hot Rod. I wish I could have seen more Hot Rod and Prime. It would have been interesting to see how he related to Prime as opposed to Bumblebee or Jazz. I have less good feelings about the leader Rodimus. He always seemed woefully unprepared. Good thing his nemesis was a scrambled mess. Hot Rod is the only boy I own two of the exact same figure. Now I can leave one in alt mode and display with robot. Of course I paid a bunch for it but it makes me happy. Top five figure from my only Hasbro collection.
Everyone's going nuts about the intro (with good reason, it's hilarious), but why are we not mentioning the toothpaste crawl at 5:01? (I know I laughed at that.)
No worries I'm not irrated at all, the bumpers are awesome. And I understand stuff like this takes time. Don't stress it. Stoked to see your thoughts on Siege Magnus, even though I do personally like it.
i love the small details you put into your wonderful animations like the subtle detail of you adding smoke to the smoke exhausts to the rodimus figure right at the start. props to you and your amazing animations sir!
Sincerely, your animation is stunning. I found myself going back to the pizza cutting clip just to gawk at how frigging well you did that. I can’t imagine how much practice and work it took to get this damn good.
I disagree, I’ve been waiting for over a year for specifically TLE to cover a specific figure before I buy it and now I feel like I didn’t get proper coverage because he didn’t complain about something menial and borderline stupid. /s
to add to the context of that bit, this was all commented on one of the plane figures where storage was a big giant gun strapped to the nose of the plane, in which I did cover it, called it stupid, and proceeded to show off tucking it in a drawer
@@Cenlinn well he does stop motion reviews. If you need an overview of a figure as quickly as possible, check out Emgo316 or PrimevsPrime. If the Lazy Eyebrow make a review for it even better.
ok, that Hotrod skit was your best one yet. I made sure to get him and Rodimus. I only have minor gripes about both, but definitely nothing to make me regret buying them.
I may comment AFTER I finish watching the video, but I had to pause at 6:56 to admire your customized Kingdom Sideswipe. Holy hell that alt mode looks good. If you haven’t already, please review that just so we can have more time to admire the vehicle. Now back to the review…
It took 30 years but someone did it someone finally answered what would happen if hot rod just shot megatron instead of tackle him. I love this video already
Question, seeing you’re a car buff and that this is a future style vehicle, if Hotrod or Rodimus weren’t these sort of space racers, what real life vehicle would you make them?
Thanks for the great review and for talking a bout the shoulders! I love this figure except for those shoulders so its nice to hear someone else feels that way about him too.
Now I regret not buying this even if I have an extensive Hot Rod collection. I had the choice between this and Rodimus and since I have more Hot Rods than Rodimus, I went with that. But I'm adding this to cart very soon. Thanks for the patron shoutout! 👍
Actually I do have one, it's on my discord and have been logging everything i can from my own stuff to other people's fogures if they provide the measurements
6:14 I actually prefer the Siege Garbage Scow, mainly because the cab (and its stock connection to the trailer) actually looks more cohesive, plus when's the last time RID2000 got *any* love?
PS. I don't mind that they made this a deluxe with a few accessories for a voyager price, but do mind that they did the same for Rodimus. The Rodimus was just too expensive and I still haven't gotten it and don't know when or if I ever will be able to get it.
6:50 I was wondering this in hand, and this is probably the *intended* scale, but the canopy got shrunk for transformation, so the interior is more like an original VW Beetle.
Love the review, Lazy! Especially the skits in the beginning and during the review! I can't stress enough on how much I enjoy messing around with this figure. Granted, I know the issues this toy has but I can look past that because of how much detail this toy has.
i loooooooove this fig. I added the red paint to his inner collar and really makes him look awesome. fully agree that i would have liked them to do the same price point with jazz and have the accessories.
2:44 To be fair, Hot Rod _is_ the kind of bot who would choose an alt mode with a big garish spoiler. Rodimus doesn’t have one (in the show) because the Matrix helped him grow out of that. And you beat me to it. I have got to stop commenting partway through videos!
actually he still has the spoiler. it's between the windshield and the trailer. kinda dumb as it doesn't actually do anything, but it is still present in the on screen design
Sir. SIR. How dare you give us such a hilarious and in-depth review on a TUESDAY. You had Lifeline CRAWL into place and almost had me die laughing, you blasted the douchebag in the comments into actual space dust, and then the Siege Garbage Scow line made me snort-laugh so hard I almost hurt myself. I love that you always point out the flaws in a constructive way, explaining potential “why’s” for the reasons behind them, instead of just spewing vitriol, and then spends just as much, if not MORE, time talking about the points you love. I bought this figure, and have loved it ever since. While the flaws you pointed out are definitely present, I’m willing to overlook them based on how much love and attention was poured into this figure. Holy wow, all those accessories too! I can’t wait to see your Rodimus Prime review too. To summarize: hilarious jokes/commentary/review, amazingly fluid animation, and a great send-off/hook that has me excited for your next upload. Both thumbs up!
I hope you had as more fun making these videos as I have watching them. I'd feel real bad you slaving away while I'm chuckling away. I was going to buy the rest of Studio Series 86 anyway after Wreck-Gar and Blurr. just have to wait for the next assortment to come in on next month's stage. But Hot Rod as BMOC at Iacon Hills High seems like the new teen drama you didn't know you needed in your life. Hot Rod and Novastar can be twin brother/sister who moved from wholesome midwest to the decadent Neon coast. Anyways thanks for the review.
We need to normalize thinking about figures like this not by comparing it to other deluxes, but by the figure's own complexity, accessories, and overall parts count. That should be the viewpoint of its quality. Same goes for Kingdom Optimus Primal.
Such a great figure. Glad I got him. The Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection is coming out with a nice-looking repaint that looks kinda like it takes inspiration from the original G1 toy's paint job and sticker details, so I'm gonna see if I can get that one, too!
I have to admit I originally was strictly a optimbotimus fan and then added baltmatrix and peaugh to my subscriptions and when I found your page, with the PBS style intro, the slow motion transformation, you have been my go to reviewer. Keep up the amazing reviews.
This is the first video I've discovered of yours and I gotta say it's by far the most unique and creative Transformers figure review I have EVER seen. You've gained a fan!
12:12 fun fact, that's not actually a saw blade. It's this weird hook like thing that spins around. It's kinda looks like a fusion between a lowercase t and capital T
Hot Rod has always been one of my favorites ever since I saw the 86 movie on a vhs as a kid, I was so happy when I picked up this hot rod and got a voyager price point masterpiece figure. Well worth the price for me, and after picking up Cup and Arcee I am glad I can remake the 86 team to display on my shelf.
"voyager price point masterpiece figure" should be on the box. I understand that change is hard and inflation sucks, but to me, a figure this good is worth twice the price.
To be fair, if someone at Takara has read Transformers Mors Then Meets The Eye, it's easy to understand why they love him. *Thank you* for looking at the scale. I'm also a scale junkie.
I gotta say originally I wasn't going to buy this figure, but your review definitely changed my mind. At first I thought it was just a slight retool of potp rodimus, but seeing as it's so much more I need this hot rod for my collection
I think the "masterpiece level articulation" comment still applies in regards to the shoulders, as I recall MP-10 Optimus and MP Magnus have some unfortunate shoulder limitations
@@TheLazyEyebrow and as bad as SS86 Hot Rod's shoulders are, its mostly a case of aesthetics, they mostly work, but just look weird, as opposed to those MPs where their range of movement is limited, I know not everyone will agree on this, but personally I can get over wonky look so long as it can still function decently, but I cannot stand non-functional articulation with a good look, If I want something that looks good and doesn't move, I just won't take the figure out of the packaging, or just buy statues
Yet another stellar review! I almost fell off my couch laughing seeing Lifeline crawling into place. Man that was so good. I always enjoy seeing your perspective and SS Hotrod was no exception. Did you at all get the impression that the car mode was...I don't know...chibi-fied in proportion? Like he seems to have been squished just a tad length wise? I got that impression when comparing him with Masterpiece Hotrod which I know you don't have so you might not have seen this. In any case I hope SS 86 continues and you keep reviewing them. They truly earn the name mini masterpiece and we're close to getting a near-perfect set of dinobots. Thank you for your FANTASTIC content! 👍🏼
I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but honestly, SS86 Hot Rod > Kingdom Rodimus Both had a ton of love and care crafted into them, and both use the dxtra budget to do some phenomenal stuff, but even then, I think Hot Rod is a better package all around. The transformation, at least in my experience was more enjoyable, the articulation on both is fantastic, and the overall sculpting on both is incredible. Plus the wide range of accesories. However, Hot Rod is just more bang for your buck, $30 usd gets you essentially the near perfect Hot Rod with a stunning robot mode and a great vehicle, with movie accesories and an overall really fun toy, whereas Rodimus is $80 usd, you get a leader figure, sword, gun, matrix, and a really cool, if not sometimes annoying trailer. If anything, I feel Hot Rod is more worth it, as both Rodimus and Hot Rod provided a similar experience, at least in terms of transformation and articulation. Just me? Idk, I've always found SS86 Hot Rod a much more enjoyable experience
I forgot to comment on first viewing that the "Whats the scale?" segment is totally appreciated as, personally, I like to try and get my figures in reasonable vehicle scale where possible. I bought Mech fans toy's 'Detective' as my collections Hound, to fit in with my mostly WFC figures. He's defiantly not in scale with the other vehicle modes (most of them are off as is, anyways lol) but it's close enough that I can be happy with it. That does mean he's way small in Robot mode but I'm fine with that. I come up with my own head cannon for how these bots are for my own collection and Hound being just a little taller than Cliff Jumper is good by me.
My mother likes Hot Rod for some reason. She asked me to get a decent Hot Rod figure for her. I was going to go for the Masterpiece version. But the Studio 86 looks so much better. Had to agree with this is the best Hot Rod figure made today
Kingdom Cyclonus has opening fingers too, part of why I believe that figure was meant for Studio Series 86 and Hasbro flubbed the packaging/production.

I certainly have more fun with one over the other
@@TheLazyEyebrow Which one will he prefer? Find out on the next episode of The Lazy Eyebrow. (or...well next next episode I believe)
I would say that at $56 USD at the time of Black Friday sale, Rodimus becomes a much better figure.
Honestly? I think you DO know. ;)
Lolol at that opening skit with Mario Bros sound effects! Brilliant great review
Because I grew up on reruns of g1 I love your recreations of the ad transitions it’s really fun to see :)
Thanks! I'm slowly working on finishing all of them and will get 2 of the the 3 remaining figures to film next week 😁
I snorted at Hot Rod slapping Kup with his own arm 😅
Great review, I have exactly the same gripes with what could have been a perfect figure. 👍🔥
I have the shatterglass recolor and I can confirm it friggen amazing!
Dude I am to old to play with toys anymore, but this video makes wish I was a kid again.
It absolutely is a great figure. Awesome review dude, loving the stop motion, friggin badass
Those gaps close up on my copy, so that might be a QC issue rather than a problem with the figure in general.
Loving that stop motion!!!
Hot rod levels up
Orion leaves.
Rodimus Prime: what just happened?
That was my favorite skit you did, It didn't last too long, But It was also the funniest!
Kingdom Cyclonus has opening fingers too, part of why I believe that figure was meant for Studio Series 86 and Hasbro flubbed the packaging/production.
He most certainly does not, what are you on about?
@@TheLazyEyebrow Oh, sorry. I thought he had the opening hands too. Great video by the way!
