Yeah good little tip! I usually just stick the two sticky sides together on all tape so it’s like a little pull tab ready for the next time.

I leave about an inch of the backing like you do but I’ll fold a little back to stick the tape to itself and also have backing exposed so it doesn’t unfurl and I can peel it 😅
