Many off-road, 4x4 vehicles have this modification available to them… even those PeRfEcT ToYotAs… But this video is for those 2nd generation Nissan owners. This video will show how to install the Offroad Gorilla rear differential breather kit into your 2005+ Nissan Xterra, Frontier or Titan. This rear axle breather helps vent air pressure in the axle whichi helps to protect your axle seals and reduce leaks.
Under normal use the air inside the axle heats up and expands, increasing the pressure inside the axle which needs to be vented. If this built up pressure is not released through the vent the weakest seal will be forced to leak and release the higher pressure “blowing out a seal”.
The stock axle vent which gets replaced with one of these kits is prone to getting clogged and not allowing any air in or out of the axle. This forces your seals to act as vents allowing air & junk into the axle and air & oil out of your axle. The stock vent is also screwed directly into the axle making it easier to be clogged up when driving through mud, water, snow, etc.

I have the same kit installed on my 08 Xterra. You should have cut the hose and put the filter somewhere in the middle of the run where you can see it by just looking under your truck. Now you have to remove the rear tail light to make sure your filter is not clogged up. Not a big deal, but it does make it easier.
No issues with it clogging up easier under the X?
@Destination X not at all, and if it does, you can easily see it.
@@offroadxterra2580thanks lol. I’m looking into diff breathers for my x and everyone seems to put the filter under the light. That didn’t make sense to me. I’ll put mine close to the spare somewhere. Easy access is everything 🤣
Why wouldnt it make sense? It cant get clogged by the light. It can get clogged underneath the truck.
Useful video for anyone that takes any type of vehicle off road. Raise those breathers if you're gonna play in big puddles😁
Absolutely
I got a 2019 frontier with 65k on it, learned about this 6 months in and went to do it, only to find the oem breather completely clogged and pinion seal leaking. When we opened it up, needed a lot more than a seal, local shop did a full rear assembly rebuild. Cost ended up being around 5k. Let this be a warning. Do the breather mod.
Ye I ran into same issue…
Im about to do this to my X. Nice ride. I got the same one. Im out in Fraser Valley. Informative vid.
Ayyy! Another fellow BC NISSAN 👌🏼
Thanks for this, super easy and quick on my frontier
Glad it helped!
Been meaning to do this for ages. Slacked on it and now my axle seal is leaking Get it done guys!
So going to do it any way plus do the seal and diff.
Good call!
I bought the nipple on Amazon and fuel line hose from a local Advance Auto.
Works just as well!
Great Info - Thanks!
Gas can not escape in water? If you are muding and you let it sit till it becomes rock maybe. But seals unable to overcome the water pressure of a puddle or a foot of water is absurd. Not your fault but I would think the transmission coolent issue is way more valid? But I give you props for being proactive even if I think those people are snake oil salesmen praying on people without mechanical knowledge. I wonder if the titan rear differential has that problem also? 😅
I'm certain the issue is actually about water getting into the axle via that venting port.
Great info!!
Glad it was helpful👌🏼
upload a new video
😂😂 one day
Wow, how cool are you? You have your hat on backwards and wearing your hoodie up over your hat; D'oh. It is beyond me why guys wear their hats backwards. No, you do not look cool, it makes one appear as "not-right-bright backwoods Bubba guy on Deliverance." Do you realize it leaves a silly half-moon suntan on your forehead, and appears when not wearing a hat as well? Thus, not knowing the bill of their hat belongs in the front protecting their eyes is not cool.
You again eh
Big scammer I have order parts from them since more than 2 months they collect my money and they are not answering my mail. Becarful guys they are big scammers
Sorry to hear! I had no issues with my order
