Heyyyy if you’re still a bit new to this wash & go thing, here’s a few more helpful tips I wish someone told me before I cried in front of the mirror for hours :) • if your ends are bone straight, just cut your hair man. Don’t hold onto it, it’s not worth it, & it’ll save you from many frustrated ugly mirrors cries. • if you want a more voluminous wash and go, style with lighter hair products and maybe skip out on the gel (*con*) doesn’t last as long / tends to get frizzy after 2-3 days • if you want a more defined / weighed down / elongated wash and go, style with heavier products (like thick creams and butters) and gels (*con*) less volume, lots of product buildup • it’s okay to experiment! everyone’s hair is different, maybe you don’t like any of the styles mentioned in this video, but you can create your own :) dedicate some time to just go crazy • rinsing your curls with cold water helps a lot with frizz! I mean ALOT. If you don’t like cold showers, just bend your head over the stream. • layers are your friend. Layers bring endless possibilities, lots of volume, and so much depth. If you haven’t already, invest in a cool haircut! (You know if you want.)
I noticed that putting a foam overtop my gel made a more voluminous but longer lasting curls. Like the foam makes it harder to have a gel cast, but the gel still keeps the curls in their form for much longer
You. Are. A. GENIUS!!! I had NO idea you could get such a difference in your hair's shape by the way you concentrated where the gel went! Now I know why my wash and gos didn't look right! Thank you so much for posting this video!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
Thank you for such a kind comment you’re so welcome!! 💓 I thought someone would’ve made a video by now about this but I searched to no avail. I’m glad I could share some newish info with you! :)
I feel like it’s also the brush type too and what you do after. Like when I brush my hair with a comb in the shower, put it in a top bun and towel for a bit, then put it in a bonnet over night and it comes out with different looking curls than I usually have lol
I don’t think you know what you just did. Minutes before finding this video I was on the phone with my mom saying I wanted a haircut because I want to improve my hair shape, but I just recreated the rounded look with your tips and I love that. No scissors necessary! You are doing the lords work!!!!
Yes! I'm so nervous to cut my hair but I was going to do it because I dont like how my hair falls after washngo s but im going to try this and hopefully don't have to cut at all!
In the thumbnails I think the hairstyle on the lower left is the most flattering on you. It looks posh yet fun and youthful. The hairstyle on the upper left makes you look like a token black character on Dynasty. The one on the upper right looks a bit awkward as it's starkly obvious that the roots are singled out and slicked down with a strong gel. The lower right is the worst of all. It makes you look like a welfare queen. Go with the lower left.
I have an idea. The Dynasty shoulder pads hairstyle could look stylish and modern if you swept it into a huge side ponytail. If you stack 2 ponytails on top of each other it'll look like one big ponytail and make the most of your hair's natural fullness. This way you'd look totally badass wearing a plain white t-shirt, light jeans and white sneakers.
Your natural hair, with no product in it is SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I LOVE the FULNESS, the CURL, the LENGTH, the CUT, the SHAPE, the WAY IT MOVES!!! I am so in love with your hair😍😍😍. And you! ❤️💕❤️💕
ik this aimed at me but i have the same exact hair as her and i hate how my hair looks when it looks like that because i think its weird but this made me so much more confident
honestly, i just need the confidence to let my hair look big. im so used to weighing it down to make it look as small & ‘’straight’’ as possible. anyway, thank you for this video, i’ll be using these tips!!! :))💓💓
GIRL I know it all too well. I stopped looking at my hair as “frizzy” and started looking at it as just hair lol. Takes practice and lots of reframing but again it’s juuuuust hair (cool hair at that) and you deserve to feel great in your most natural state! So glad you could take something from this video 🥰 best of luck to ya always
I’m definitely an elongated wet look person. But I was trying to figure out how to do a different style and almost considered cutting my hair. Thank you for the tips!
okay but like this had to have taken FOREVER! the patience you show in this video, i could never. also you hair is so pretty when its dry without product! ✨
These are great tips! I’ve been natural since 2003 and I realize I was clueless. I typically have the wet long look and just refer to it as first day hair. I have to wait a few days to get rounded look. I will try new method next wash.
Omg my mom used to style my hair like that all the time! GOBS of ampro gel. Letting my hair dry without any product with it really opened my eyes to what my hair really looked like 😭 I hope it works out for you please let me know your thoughts after! Thanks for watching 💕
I know this video isn’t about what I’m going to say but you really helped me out with a problem I was having!! My ends always looked so ‘stringy’ after applying gel and I hated it. You telling that you use an oil after drying helped me SO MUCH with this issue!! THANK YOU ❤️ God bless you🙏🏼
I wondered why my hair would come out looking different sometimes, this explains it. Also helps me to know how to place my gel for the look I want 😍 thanks!
I don't have the same hair type, but this was such an informative video that you executed so well! the way you present the info and your opinions is so clear and uplifting
Love this, it’s crazy cause I was realizing that my hair came out very differently and I was focused on how I was brushing my hair but never thought about how the gel application changed it
omg this is soooo important!!!! I've always felt bad about my hair, because people looked good and knew how to style their hair in different ways and they looked amazing in it. And i would try, and i looked very weird. Started taking care of my hair and trying new styles, girl, I've been getting compliments all the time!
Nah Isn’t that the BEST feeling??? I’m so happy for you girl that’s something I truly hope every curly person experiences in their lifetime 💓 here’s to cool styles all year round 🧚🏽♂️
i remembered that i had this video in my watch later, so i watched it right before i washed my hair today to test it out. my hair came out perfectly!! it was round how i like it and super defined. i always avoided wash n gos because they didn’t give me this effect so thank you for posting this!
She explained this wonderfully 😭👏🏼 I personally love the rounded look, apparently I do it all the time without even realizing it ☠️ definitely coming back to this video whenever I want to do the wet look/triangle
You're a genius!!! While my hair isn't as curly as yours, that third option is something I've been wanting to achieve for so long! I thought it was impossible, and that I could only get that weighed down look when it's soaking wet 😅so excited to try it, THANK YOU SO MUCH
i watched the whole videos waiting to see the 4th style in the thumbnail only to realize it was your natural hair i’m on one. your natural hair without any product looks the best imo; you’re lucky asf
Honestly that’s awesome all the things u can do with ur hair just from styling. That’s one big advantage of curly hair, you have a large variety of styles you can choose from. I have straight hair but I’m gonna watch this whole video
After two years of transitioning to my natural hair, I followed your tips and it finally, finally did what I always wanted it to. THANK you - I would never have thought to place gel strategically. This is the best advice I’ve found!
I absolutely HAVE to try the "rounded" look. Thank you so much for this!!!! I struggle with my hair daily. It never comes out the same. I see so many girls and they part their hair and brush style, I find that to be a huge struggle!! Thank YOU SO MUCH!
Thanks for this video! I've been natural for years now, but I always wear my hair is twists and twist outs, because I've had bad luck with wash-n-gos. I'm going to give this a try and see how it looks! I like the first look best.
So glad I found this. I've been frustrated with my hair; I want to grow it longer, but I hate the shape of it and wanna cut it so bad. Part of it is because I'm growing out an undercut and side shaves, and part is damage due to bleach and color. I don't know what to do with it anymore, I'm at the end of my rope. This video is truly what I needed. I'm gonna try these out and see what works best for me and my messed up hair. Thank you for making this, you're a lifesaver 😭💖
I’m not even black and don’t have hair like yours but you’re just so pretty and for some reason watching this video was very satisfying because of your voice and just watching you do your hair.
i’ve litterally been dying to know why every time i wash my hair the hair volume/ style changes even though i put in the same products, i’m so happy i came across this video
I’m so glad I found this video! I’ve been so frustrated with my hair - to the point that I considered detransitioning from natural. This is so helpful ❤️
I needed this so badly! I got so sucked into curly hair styling tips that say do not put gel or heavy products near roots and I kept getting the rounded look - even though I like the triangle! Off to style my hair right now!
Can any of these looks work for 4a type hair, because this shrinkage seems to be giving me only the basic Afro or rounded (i guess) look. And I wanna try some new looks with my hair. Plus love your videos !!! 🤧❤️
Yes! I would say to apply on soaking wet hair, use a thicker gel, and definitely a thicker leave in product :) maybe apply a light leave in to your soaking wet hair, apply a thick leave in to certain areas in addition to your favorite gel. So for example for the triangle look, apply your leave in, apply your thick cream based product to the top of your head, THEN apply your gel on top of that. More control & laying power :) thank you so much for watching and I hope it works for you! 💕
I do the triangle shape on my 4a.I use the same method with the gel and add duck clips or a scarf on the top of my head. Looking forward to trying the other shapes out too
I never heard or thought of this before but the title and thumbnail already make so much sense. Your video sponsor is also relevant to me so THANK YOU for making this video.
I had NO idea I was mostly doing the rounded look which I personally don’t like on me. I need to try the other two. Thank you! This video was extremely helpful!
Omg I needed this so much! I honestly couldn’t stand that my hair seems to love the triangle look but I never realized how much the gel placement mattered!
This is one of the most informative videos I've ever seen! I can't wait to try the second method out. But I have a question: would diffusing ruin it? Would I have to do it in a specific way? My hair would be frizzy and with no volume at all otherwise.
i literally love your voice and the way u describe each style so uniquely is so comforting, thank u sm u don’t even understand how much serotonin this gave me
I’m white with two white parents, my hair it’s very similar to yours and you are saving my hair from becoming a giant frizzy ball on top of my head and I thank you for that
ngl I clicked on this thinking it would be another overcomplicated video with barely any difference, but WOW props to you!! the video was SO informative and actually makes a huge difference!!
This is a very helpful tutorial! Thank you for explaining and showing us! I have always done the wet look. But now that I know, I’m going to try the other styles. The rounded looks amazing! ❤️
THANK YOU! My hair is extremely curly and coming from am all white family (myself included) nobody knew how to handle my hair and nobody could teach me! I am so glad I found your channel! Thank you beautiful!!!❤
Thank you so much! I usually do the rounded style unintentionally but I've been looking for a method that is less voluminous and more lengthy to persevere length! tysm! I hope it works for me :)
Just found this video on my feed and I’m so glad I did. Every time I wash my hair it comes out different when it dries. I knew it had to do with product placement, but I wasn’t sure where to now put it and how much. I’m definitely still learning which leave ins are healthiest and work best with my hair type, style, and thickness. Thank you for this video, I’m going to try the rounded look for product placement to help my current cut style to look it’s best and most voluminous ❤
my hair is SO voluminous and I don't like it because I can't go outside without a ponytail, or else my hair would look so messy lol. But this video helped me so much!! I absolutely love the "elongated wet style", I always wanted my hair to look less voluminous and I finally got it! Thank you so much for sharing this video 🤍 Greetings from Italy
5:30 wow! The incredible difference is there! You are so blessed, and so beautiful. I think you look a lot like my sister! I loved this very helpful video thank you! 💛
I love to do the wet look. Rock for a day or two and then split the curls up and get a look between one and two. I have super thick hair so it’s one of the only ways I can preserve a wash and go for more than a few days without my hair frizzing out.
Thank you. I had no idea it mattered. My hair always came out the same shape no matter what I did and now I know why. Looking forward to trying this. Have a blessed week.
my curly hair has been giving me so much trouble and i have no idea what to do about it, I'm gonna wash it real quick and try the triangle method!!! Your hair is so beautiful!
thank you so much, i just tried the elongated wet look but i think its shrinking back to my natural triangle/rounded shape 😭 do you have some more tips on how to not make it shrink ? also, my hair doesnt dry with the head scarf on, but the part thats not covered does, is that normal 😭
Yes! Double up on products, triple up on moisture. Get a long headscarf and tie it tight around all of your hair, give it a couple hours to dry fully. I would do this hours before going out, or as soon as I’d wake up in the morning. The uncovered part drying faster is completely normal, you just gotta wrap it :) 💛 I usually get my giant scarfs from beauty supply stores or thrift stores.
Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏾 I’ve been wearing wash n go’s exclusively since I got a curly haircut 2 years ago but I hadn’t figured out what I was doing differently when I got these results. Now, I have options! It’s not just a roll of the dice anymore!
I like your approach of showing how to achieve different shapes. Usually curly videos and articles are like, "You WANT to avoid the triangle." But...sometimes the triangle fits? This video is just so positive and helpful.
I have 3b / 4a hair and my hair always seems to be rounded. I try to add heavier products or something else to hold it down but it always bounces back up! Thank you so much I'll be using this video more often. Earned yourself a subscriber
Beautiful. Hello everyone hope we can all remember our Lord and saviour Jesus Chrost of Nazareth who came to die for our sins. May we seek him while he may be found especially in these perilous times as the kingdom of God is at hand. Remember do not be dismayed God will not forsake you. Have a blessed day, he wishes none of us to perish.
girl, your hair is so beautiful!! and your voice!! i've never thought about gel placement for some reason lol. idk if my hair will ever be able to define so well with just conditioner and leave-in so i always use gel buttt awesome vid :)
Heyyyy if you’re still a bit new to this wash & go thing, here’s a few more helpful tips I wish someone told me before I cried in front of the mirror for hours :)

(*con*) less volume, lots of product buildup

Not to be weird or anything but what is your. Hair type and how did you get your hair to that length
not weird at all :) my hair type is 3b/c and I have a video on my channel alll about it! should be the third one down from this one :))
@@laurscurls ok thanks

This is one of the most informative videos I've ever seen! I can't wait to try the second method out. But I have a question: would diffusing ruin it? Would I have to do it in a specific way? My hair would be frizzy and with no volume at all otherwise.
You can diffuse for sure, just be gentle and don’t disrupt the gel cast while doing it & you’re golden :)))
i literally love your voice and the way u describe each style so uniquely is so comforting, thank u sm u don’t even understand how much serotonin this gave me
I’m white with two white parents, my hair it’s very similar to yours and you are saving my hair from becoming a giant frizzy ball on top of my head and I thank you for that
I felt this oml no one in my family can help
White people have curly hair to sone straight some curls are looser
@@elizaleorowe8384 fr everybody in my family either straightens their hair or alr has straight hair
ngl I clicked on this thinking it would be another overcomplicated video with barely any difference, but WOW props to you!! the video was SO informative and actually makes a huge difference!!
Glad you’re here :) 🤎🤎
This is a very helpful tutorial! Thank you for explaining and showing us! I have always done the wet look. But now that I know, I’m going to try the other styles. The rounded looks amazing! ❤️
You’re so welcome, thank you!! 💕💕
You’re welcome! I hope it works
Out too :) ✨
Just found this video on my feed and I’m so glad I did.
This was such a nice video! I’m sure it took a lot of work but this is so informative and helpful. Love it!
Awww thank you so much for recognizing that :’) I’m so glad you could pull some value from it thank you! 💕
This video just changed my life THANK YOU❤❤❤
I am so in love with your beauty. I think you are just simply gorgeous
I literally don’t even have curly hair but your voice is so soothing that I couldn’t stop watching
my hair is SO voluminous and I don't like it because I can't go outside without a ponytail, or else my hair would look so messy lol.
I'm a guy and I have scapula-length 2b-type hair, but I still watched your video to the end. Makes me want to try out styling gel more.
The key to the rounded look is to have layers giving your curls a round shape
Layers are definitely part of it!
Thank you. I had no idea it mattered. My hair always came out the same shape no matter what I did and now I know why. Looking forward to trying this. Have a blessed week.
I'm going to have to try this omg your hair looks stunning every way!
Aww thanks Alexaaaa! 💓
And please do, i’d love to see your results on your beeeautiful hair

Your hair with no product omg my dream 😭😍
luv u Onyankopon 💌
my curly hair has been giving me so much trouble and i have no idea what to do about it, I'm gonna wash it real quick and try the triangle method!!! Your hair is so beautiful!
loved your video! I haven't seen anyone else discuss it!
Thank you so much! 💕
This is exactly the video I needed. I couldn't understand why my wash n gos never looked the same. Thank you so much!!❤
This is such a good video 🥺 my hair be on triangle but I wanna get it more rounded so this is perfect, thank you!!
Aww you’re so welcome! Glad you could take something from it 🥰
i’m so dumbfounded i FINALLY AFTER 19 YEARS FOUND SOMEONE WITH THE exact hair like mine… THANK YOU
thank you so much, i just tried the elongated wet look but i think its shrinking back to my natural triangle/rounded shape 😭 do you have some more tips on how to not make it shrink ? also, my hair doesnt dry with the head scarf on, but the part thats not covered does, is that normal 😭
@@laurscurls omg thank you so much, just by following the vid i had great results! tysm for taking time to answer🧡
Your natural hair is INSANE🤩 So so gorgeous!!!😍
Your the secret to my curls thankyou
eee I’m honored 🧡
Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏾 I’ve been wearing wash n go’s exclusively since I got a curly haircut 2 years ago but I hadn’t figured out what I was doing differently when I got these results. Now, I have options! It’s not just a roll of the dice anymore!
I love your vids sm keep up the work!
Aww thank you for being here! :)
the amount of work you've put in this video!
and it really helped a lot, think you so much
All these years of being natural... NEVER thought to do this. Now I am curious to see what my hair will do. Thank YOU!
I like your approach of showing how to achieve different shapes. Usually curly videos and articles are like, "You WANT to avoid the triangle." But...sometimes the triangle fits? This video is just so positive and helpful.
Wish you could do mine for me! 😭
Sissss you did THAT! 🔥😍 this is such a game changer you don’t even understandddd!!!
OMFG THANK U FOR THIS VIDEO!! the elongated wet look helped sooooo much!!!
Anytime ♥️
Your voice is sooo soothing! Love your curls as well
i noticed a little difference eachtime too! This is a really unique concept to make a video about, props girl!!
girl, your hair is so beautiful!! and your voice!! i've never thought about gel placement for some reason lol. idk if my hair will ever be able to define so well with just conditioner and leave-in so i always use gel buttt awesome vid :)
aww thank you so much! Thanks for watching 💓
2:09 your hair is absolutely gorgeous with and without products.
when i air dry my hair with zero product, it is barely wavy, flat, and feels like hay
