Same. This girl with thick straight hair I was friends with asked me why I pit so much gel in my hair....I told her because it's frizzy lol I didnt have many curly hair friends and my mom tried helping but no matter what my hair was FRIZZY to me. When I was 19 I started to let it go and I was so happy how my hair felt and looked, it was a game changer lol I was wondering why I never just let it go when I was in middle school and how gross my hair actually felt in that time LOL ew!

I love how she demonstrated how the donts would affect your curls instead of just saying how it would. Really illustrated how it would look like. Appreciate the effort!
It's crazy how much I didn't know about taking care of my hair type. I was the only one in the family with curls when I growing up, so I was taught to take care of my hair the same way someone with straight or slightly wavy hair would. I just thought that the problem was my hair type, that the reason why my hair always looked so horrific was just because that's how my hair is. After watching your videos and other youtubers with similar curls, I know now that my hair isn't "unmanageable" or "difficult", it just takes different techniques to deal with it. It's definitely been a self-esteem boost to find out that my hair isn't "bad hair", like I thought my entire life! ♥️
My curls are destroyed and i tried this...from the first time i saw results and i almost cried from my happiness...i used to hate my curly hair because i was different from the others because of it but now i really appreciate the gift that life gave me
I’m 16 and literally no one ever taught me how to properly take care of my curls until right now I do every single “Don’t” thinking this was how to do my hair, yet I always wondered why it couldn’t get volume Hell, I didn’t knew what was a diffuser until now thinking it was like a bigger blow dryer, thank you so much for making this!! I’ll try to take these tips now❤️❤️❤️
I have straight roots and the rest of my hair is curly. I can never get any volume and I've tried EVERYTHING, unless I fluff it all the way out and end up with a frizzy mess. 😫
Do the shingling method. It's taking small pieces of hair and curling with your finger from root to tip. Similar to finger coils but instead you're using wayyy smaller pieces of hair. Your roots might just need to be trained to stay curly. That will help them
Maybe you should try a different haircut. That happened to me a lot until I added even more layers and now my hair is more voluminous. I have high density, low porosity, type 3a curls so I get easily weighted down. Also, my hair is waist-long.
Lol. Watching the don’ts was a little too close to home in that I find myself doing almost all those things. I’m just so impatient!! I promise to stop!

yo guys, i actually followed her tips and videos after 2 years of straightening my hair EVERY single day.. and let me tell you how GOOD my hair looks, i am obsessed with it! and i never thought my hair would actually look that fabulous
Please do part 2 to show us how you extend / maintain past day 1 curls. Sometimes mine look ok the first day but next day they're a disaster and I end up putting it up.😟 3 rd day is non existent 😩
I’ve been doing exactly what you say not to and I have been extremely frustrated. I’ve always had short hair until I grew it out three years ago and never knew I had such curly hair. Thanks for uploading the video! I can’t wait to see how my hair will look from now on!
I recently bought some John Frieda Curl Mousse. Can't wait to try it on my next wash day!I really appreciate your channel.I've learned that PATIENCE is really one of the key rules for beautiful curls.
I watched this after I’ve been doing all the don’ts for years… can’t believe this is why I thought I hated my natural hair! You’re a life saver! Can’t wait to try all your tips
I FINALLY found someone with my exaxt curl pattern! Maybe I just didn't look hard enough but I feel like there are really few people with this exact curl size and structure so I'm just binge watching your vids all happy right now and implementing everything on my next wash!
Thank you! Im going to try this way. Usually i can only get my hair to look this good if I'm lucky and the weather is just right and my hormones are balanced and the sun and moon are in perfect alignment
This is genuinely the best curly hair video I've seen, a couple essential products and good techniques rather than an expensive list of creams gels and mouses. Thank you so much for making this
I’ve been watching all of your videos and for the first time in 58 years I’m going to finally give in to my curls and try to start embracing them instead of straightening them every day! Thanks for all the great videos.
I am 35 and have never done anything to my curls but add water! This is huge in helping me to make my hair way less frizzy and defining my curls at the roots. Thank you so much for this video! I am also buying my first diffuser today❤
The most shocking thing is that my hair looks exactly like the "Don't" result. I didn't know I was doing so much wrong 😅 thank you for showing us the right way!
The don'ts are not exaggerated. I have a white mother and a non-white father so I grew up clueless about my curls and the wet, greasy side of your head was me age 12. Even in my 30s I'm still learning. Thank you for your service to Type 3s!
I tried the do’s and my hair is so curly all the way around my head my curls are starting at the top of my head instead of ear level the brushing method really helped my hair looked like the dont side ever since middle school now it’s full of volume and bigger
Tips for me: Don't apply so much mousse Pull the brush away from the scalp instead of dragging down Scrunch the mousse in Hover the diffuser around and then lightly shake it, don't touch your hair, don't separate them, don't put it on the scalp Don't touch them until they're completely dry
Girl can I just say that you are so gorgeous! Your eyes are wow! (‘: i can’t wait to try your tips! ! I’ve had curly hair my whole life and I never realized how bad Im styling my hair! 😂😭
omg your curls are my goal !!! Next wash day I'm following your tips . I know I won't get the same results as I'm sure my hair is more type 2 with the odd type 3 curl hidden in there . but if I can get a better definition of my curls then I'm happy .
Just about everything you said not to do, I currently do during my natural hair routine. I’m going to switch my routine to this one right away. I can’t wait to see what my hair does tomorrow. Thank you so much!
haha, yeah I guess, but I had very frizzy hair that I didn't think was curly but after researching apparently if you have a frizz you can achieve a curl and now after following lots of tips I have super curly hair!!!
I have gone natural for the last 3 years, after straightening and lightening my hair for years. I do a one process lightener now but I just learned I'm doing everything wrong. I'm going to try your do's and hoping it will improve the damage done to my hair. Love your hair!
i love your hair on your pfp it’s gorgeous!! i have 2a- 2b waves (so nothing really but i’ve straightened my hair so much it doesn’t have any wave anymore :( )
This has helped me understand more about curly hair like urs. My boyfriends 6 year old son has curly hair. His mother hasn’t taught him about caring for curly hair. I want to learn all I can since I have straight hair, so I can help him learn when he spends time at his dads house. I’m going to get him some products and the correct brush to help him on his journey with long curly beautiful hair!
I will also say that another important part of curly hair is having a good, dynamic cut. As you can see with her hair, she has a variety of layers in her hair, a mixture of short and long. I think this contributes a lot to definition and body in curly hair
My parents didn't know how to treat curly hair so I grew up hating mine. After years of straightening my curls since middle school, I'm now 29 and trying to embrace my curls. I haven't straightened my hair in just over a year and I'm already noticing a massive difference in hair quality! My hairs grown twice as fast and it's gotten super freaking curly since I first stopped straightening. Now to cut off the straighter damaged ends and follow your tips! Maybe my hair will look this gorgeous someday! Thank you for this video! 😭💕
Thank you for this video! I have naturally curly hair! For years I have straightened it! I have recently started wearing it curly again! I get alot of compliments but I'm not really happy with how it looks! I will definitely use your tips!
I got anxiety just watching the "dont's"....but eeek, I see that I am making a few of those mistakes. So thanks for this video, it was super helpful. You and your curls are gorgeous!
the amount of work for this video deserves a recognition 👏 I have straight-wavy 01-02 hair. I actually love to make my hair frizzy because after I create curls they look like dirty hair, so I brush it a little to create that frizzy texture that nobody wants :))) and that creates a volume for me
Loooll I thought I knew everything about taking care of my curls by now, but the thing about styling too wet or too dry.. OMG! That makes so much sense, why did I never think of this before. Thanks gorgeous girl!
I needed this so bad! Meeting my boyfriends parents tomorrow and I really want to make sure my hair looks incredible, now I know exactly how to do it right every time. love you Jayme!
You're such a beauty. I'm 53 years young. And I can totally relate to all of the don'ts. I confess that I've done them all sprinkled throughout my lifetime. I seriously couldn't stop giggling!!
The don’ts are literally what I do with my daughters hair and I feel so bad now! I was thinking I had the wrong products but it’s me just ruining her hair 😭
Oh no! Don't feel bad - you tried your best! My mom would always blow dry the heck outta my hair and force it into a sort of a bob, so you're already doing a lot better than that 😂 How does her hair look now?
@@mollytaylor8122 it’s looking a little bit better. We still have some work to do. Still having a hard time with the frizz though and making sure it stays looking healthy and moisturized.
I think it's so wonderful that you're doing research on how to do your daughter's hair! Something that has helped reduce frizz near the top for me is making sure to blow dry my roots first (cold air with diffuser directly against scalp). A soggy scalp = frizzy crown!
My daughter has curly hair and the john frieda items are the best items for her hair.. she loves her curls and thanks to this video i know a bit more on what to do especially by the roots.. so thank you so much for making this video .. and dont forget your curls are awesome!!!
Ikr, i did the same mistake my entire life and i regret doing it. I love my curls now. I had really long hair but i straightened them 2 years back. I have cut those straightened hair but some are still left. I miss my hair length. I wish i hadn't done smoothening in the first place and endured my natural curls.
I just tried this technique (after watching her diffusing video) but with products I had lying around the house. It totally works! It’ll look even better once I get better products. I’m so grateful!
i needed this so much ive always struggled with having volume and defined curls at the back of my head and I always thought it was just my curl pattern hopefully when I start doing this now ill have hair like yours!!!!
Great video, thank you for your tips!! 🙏❤️ One question! After separating my chunky curls, they always end up clumping back together within an hour, sometimes even less. If you experience this, do you have tips for preventing the curls from clumping back together?
Thank you so much! As a woman with straight hair who's daughter has beautiful curls, this has been the most helpful video and I now see where I'm going wrong. I appreciate you! 🙏 ❤

The same routine will work just dont shake out your hair or seperate your curls xx
Manes by Mell just uploaded a video about that kind of routine.
Yea same I sort of like when it’s more voluminous at the bottom not the top
thats the same with me
Sammeeee
I recently bought some John Frieda Curl Mousse. Can't wait to try it on my next wash day!I really appreciate your channel.I've learned that PATIENCE is really one of the key rules for beautiful curls.
I watched this after I’ve been doing all the don’ts for years… can’t believe this is why I thought I hated my natural hair! You’re a life saver! Can’t wait to try all your tips
I FINALLY found someone with my exaxt curl pattern! Maybe I just didn't look hard enough but I feel like there are really few people with this exact curl size and structure so I'm just binge watching your vids all happy right now and implementing everything on my next wash!
me too omg!!
samee but my hair is a bit longer
Then how to control frizz at the roots?
I did all the steps and let it air dry but the end of curls looked amazing but the roots buffed like crazy
I use a mousse that is designed for the roots which helped me a lot on controlling the frizz in my roots, you should try that too
Also applying a little bit of conditioner on your roots while showering might help too, just not too much
@@mmm2121 what's the brand of mousse u use?
WRAPEDINSILK Literally the same thing happened with me also! I'm wondering if I didn't saturate my hair enough with water
sameeeeee here!
I love, love, love that you are a product minimalist! Less is more. Beautiful results!
Thank you! Im going to try this way. Usually i can only get my hair to look this good if I'm lucky and the weather is just right and my hormones are balanced and the sun and moon are in perfect alignment

This isn’t really related to your comment but
How are our names very similar???
Dear god I relate so hard 🤣
This is one of the most beneficial curly hair videos I have watched! 😍 Thanks, girly!
Mariah Mahon that makes me so happy!!!!
This is genuinely the best curly hair video I've seen, a couple essential products and good techniques rather than an expensive list of creams gels and mouses. Thank you so much for making this
I think I’m the only person on the planet whose roots dry before the rest of my hair 😂😂😂
Jennifer Catherine nope. Same to me too.
Mine does too! 😭
Of course the roots dry first... your head is warm so it dries your roots
Lili Bili Lol what.
My Namo yes. After you shower, the hair near your head dries first, because it gives warmth. Or did I maybe misunderstand the comment?
Your eyes are beautiful Masha Allah
Oh, the curls!! Might be the most beautiful locks I've ever seen.😍
I’ve been watching all of your videos and for the first time in 58 years I’m going to finally give in to my curls and try to start embracing them instead of straightening them every day! Thanks for all the great videos.
This is the video Needed so badly bro. My hair is flatter than a table thank you so much🥺🥺
I am 35 and have never done anything to my curls but add water!
Me tooo
The don'ts are not exaggerated. I have a white mother and a non-white father so I grew up clueless about my curls and the wet, greasy side of your head was me age 12. Even in my 30s I'm still learning. Thank you for your service to Type 3s!
10/10 video. You can tell you thought very carefully with each technique and it so helpful to see the dos and don’ts simultaneously!!
I tried the do’s and my hair is so curly all the way around my head my curls are starting at the top of my head instead of ear level the brushing method really helped my hair looked like the dont side ever since middle school now it’s full of volume and bigger
Tips for me:
Don't apply so much mousse
Pull the brush away from the scalp instead of dragging down
Scrunch the mousse in
Hover the diffuser around and then lightly shake it, don't touch your hair, don't separate them, don't put it on the scalp
Don't touch them until they're completely dry
She only used mousse for the do?
I can not tell you how much this video helped me. You’re so great at explaining AND giving visuals!!!
Girl can I just say that you are so gorgeous! Your eyes are wow! (‘: i can’t wait to try your tips! ! I’ve had curly hair my whole life and I never realized how bad Im styling my hair! 😂😭
What shampoo do you use!?
omg your curls are my goal !!!
Ok but I need to know the lip color you're wearing! It's gorgeous!
DO: have naturally curly hair
DON'T: think you can achieve this with your damn straight hair by just following these steps
Lmao
Secession77 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Lol, right
the aggression
haha, yeah I guess, but I had very frizzy hair that I didn't think was curly but after researching apparently if you have a frizz you can achieve a curl and now after following lots of tips I have super curly hair!!!
I have gone natural for the last 3 years, after straightening and lightening my hair for years. I do a one process lightener now but I just learned I'm doing everything wrong. I'm going to try your do's and hoping it will improve the damage done to my hair. Love your hair!
Even though i’m a 4c natural, i’m definitely going to take the brush direction tips because I want VOLUME for days!
i love your hair on your pfp it’s gorgeous!! i have 2a- 2b waves (so nothing really but i’ve straightened my hair so much it doesn’t have any wave anymore :( )
You are so cute. Love love love this video! xx

My with my straight hair: this video is 100% of use for me!
Me: *Watches* ....
Me: *Gets out of bed at 5:13 A.M just to fix my hair*
The don’t picture is exactly my hair
Thank you for this video! I have naturally curly hair! For years I have straightened it! I have recently started wearing it curly again! I get alot of compliments but I'm not really happy with how it looks! I will definitely use your tips!
I got anxiety just watching the "dont's"....but eeek, I see that I am making a few of those mistakes. So thanks for this video, it was super helpful. You and your curls are gorgeous!
I needed this video because my hair has turned out like it did on the right 😩 thank you for this curl queen 💗
the amount of work for this video deserves a recognition 👏
I have straight-wavy 01-02 hair. I actually love to make my hair frizzy because after I create curls they look like dirty hair, so I brush it a little to create that frizzy texture that nobody wants :))) and that creates a volume for me
The do’s and don’ts are such a big transition!!! Im...... no wonder my hair looks like shit. I love you for this jo
10 minutes of me learning I've been doing absolutely everything wrong 👁👄👁 Thank you!!
Loooll I thought I knew everything about taking care of my curls by now, but the thing about styling too wet or too dry.. OMG! That makes so much sense, why did I never think of this before. Thanks gorgeous girl!
i used to do most of the "don'ts" you literally saved my life thank u sm 😭
I needed this so bad! Meeting my boyfriends parents tomorrow and I really want to make sure my hair looks incredible, now I know exactly how to do it right every time. love you Jayme!
I hope you make a good impression!
how did it go?
You're such a beauty. I'm 53 years young. And I can totally relate to all of the don'ts. I confess that I've done them all sprinkled throughout my lifetime. I seriously couldn't stop giggling!!
“I’m not an expert” says the girl with BEAUTIFUL absolutely perfect curls. 🧐🧐
Lies!!
@@rel4998 Thank you for the tip love! 💜
My daughter has curly hair and the john frieda items are the best items for her hair.. she loves her curls and thanks to this video i know a bit more on what to do especially by the roots.. so thank you so much for making this video .. and dont forget your curls are awesome!!!
this makes me want to finally embrace my natural curls. i have been straightening for too long and its really damaging my hair
I'm amazed that you actually went thru the process of putting the product on the wrong way and putting it on the right way. MVP for real! 👏
I just tried this technique (after watching her diffusing video) but with products I had lying around the house. It totally works! It’ll look even better once I get better products. I’m so grateful!
I think we all curly lasses here at least know not to brush dry hair. That's the BIGGEST DON'T 🙅
Never do that
Your dedication to showing us what not to do…that’s a woman for the people right there!! Lol thank you for this. So needed. Immediately subscribed ❤️
I didn’t realize how many of the donts i do😳love this vid, ty!!
*ive been doing all the donts and it looks exactly like yours when you do the donts so I did all the dos and it looks exactly like yours now 😌😌*
Omg you must be drop dead gorgeous! Hope my hair turns out as nicely after I start following her tips, too!
@@mollytaylor8122 I’ve been following her for like a year now
i needed this so much ive always struggled with having volume and defined curls at the back of my head and I always thought it was just my curl pattern hopefully when I start doing this now ill have hair like yours!!!!
came straight from Instagram from how excited I was!! THANK YOU
dancemomsedits yayy!!!!
Great video, thank you for your tips!! 🙏❤️
One question! After separating my chunky curls, they always end up clumping back together within an hour, sometimes even less. If you experience this, do you have tips for preventing the curls from clumping back together?
I need this too.
Omg ypu are a God send! I cant believe it took me so long to find someone who knows what theyre doing with my(our) kind of hair.💜
This is one of your best videos/ best tips so far all in one video.I make a lot of these mistakes so thank you!! Your hair looks beautiful. God bless
So glad it will help you!
You are such a radiant beauty, i got shocked when I clicked and you popped up like that. 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Thank you so much! As a woman with straight hair who's daughter has beautiful curls, this has been the most helpful video and I now see where I'm going wrong. I appreciate you! 🙏 ❤
I don’t even have curly hair, but I loved watching this lol
Beautiful!
