Quarter mile Plaid but the Chiron has a higher mph. Roll race depends on powerband of the Chiron but the higher the speed the Chiron wil take the Plaid. Btw a Plaid has been tested at 1300 bp, have you seen it?? Plus if the Chiron would have a gearbox to max out at 200 mph it would be faster
@@cappedavid9757 I think that was just because their measuring equipment was not calibrated correctly for an EV probably. You need properly calibrated hub dynos to gague the true horsepower of an EV.
It's perfect how they have the plaid as a camera car. It just harks back to that camera man meme running as fast as the runners. That character suits the plaid so perfectly.
Yeah but the chiron wasn't designed for quarter mile runs. The plan is all it does. Do runs from 120 to 260mph and pit the camera on the plaid. It will look stupid. When you got 2600hp racing for 1320 feet, you got to be stupid thinking that means everything.
Just the fact that a 4 door sedan at a significantly lower price can even be compared to a car like the Bugatti is absolutely amazing I love the plaid!
its just bc its electric. even an audi rs3 with 400hp is able to beat the stock model s plaid around nordschleife. tesla then made a new lap with a tuned model s plaid with active aero, slicks etc. it was only 5 seconds faster than the rs3. which means only around 0.25 second on 1 km / 0,62 mi

The plaid is such a beast, put down peak power of almost 1000 WHP at 60 mph with no drop in power all the way up to a delimited top speed of 207 mph. Perfect power curve, it’s severely underrated from the factory, closer to ‘1400’ BHP. ***CORRECTION: current top speed record for the Plaid S is an eye-watering 216 mph***
Makes the $3 mill difference hard to justify. I wish American sports cars would incorporate the AWD and 4WD options more. We have 1000+ HP Hellcats, Mustangs & Camaros.

It's sold as a family sedan, you have the option to add ceramics if you want to do more than just drive highways and drag race with it. Few people care about "track" racing where the driver has to brake a dozen times a minute, but if someone's really interested then they should know what they need for their specific niche case. TeslaPlaidChannel has been doing hundreds of drag races with the stock brakes without any problems whatsoever.
Then why isn't there a NTHSA investigation on the numerous accidents involving the brakes? Sure it could use more braking power in track conditions but day to day driving which is what the majority of people who own these cars use them for is not a problem. Jeez, some of you mofos run with anything to make you fell good. Pathetic.

Plaid acceleration is great but the braking on the Chiron is wayyy better, I'm sure the air brake helps but very impressive for such a heavy car. Great video👏🏻🍻

This guy has the right attitude about the Plaid, and I imagine the future of fast cars. Competition just makes the engine manufacturers push ICE to the limit, and also hybrid setups, etc. Cool times for sure.

Man that's crazy! The only one the Bugatti won was when he jumped from a dig. I didn't expect that in the roll race. Love that Bugatti color though. Awesome stuff!
The plaid just has a crazy launch. If you look at every race the chiron starts pulling just before they start braking. In a roll race or a 1/2 mile the chiron would be way ahead. But for raw performance the plaid is easily the better value though, considering its $100k - $150k vs $3M+
Yes indeed, but that aside Brooks often react faster than the competition, makes a world of difference, that 1 race with reversed rolls had a different outcome which just add to that fact. Have a system for start and someone who will not be nr 2 on the throttle each time and I think it's gonna be way tighter, then again just goes to show how much difference being first will do for cars this fast. Still quite a red light racer that Tesla and to be fair and he got some serious cars for the full sensation where a full sense is not cut out.

That Plaid is pure insanity to get a Chiron like that. I absolutely did NOT think plaid would take the roll race. Kudos Tesla. Gotta have the carbon ceramics if going above 120.
For just 5 oil changes for Bugatti ($30k each) I can get the similarly or better performing car (Plaid) which is much more practical, can comfortably carry 5 passengers with a lot of luggage. Much safer. Can fuel at home. Can travel on autopilot everywhere and camp. Enjoy driving in silence and many more. Choice is obvious 😉
Finally, some real Chiron / Plaid races, except the second one with the jump and this Plaid wasn’t even fully charged. Would be great to see the Plaid unlocked vs. Chiron on the half mile.
Great content Brooks, whilst I don't care for Electric vehicles (They are about as exciting as watching paint dry) you somehow make it worth watching. Fair play!
I've driven some fast-ish cars, and the only EV I tried was 80 HP Renault Twingo. The most boring of all EVs on the planet. But it was the most exciting experience ever. The fact you have 100% power available at the touch of the accelerator, and the fact it can reach 50kph with the blink of an eye is just amazing. Gas/diesel cars need to rattle all their stuff to get their lazy arse moving and they just felt like an obsolete piece of technology since. EV for everyday use, old muscle car for weekends 🙂

Great video. I wasn’t surprised the Plaid won from a standing start, but very surprised it won on the rolling start, where I was expecting that Chiron with 50% more BHP to win.
When the 3.6 million dollar gas burner (specifically designed for performance ) can not beat a sub $90k family sedan I think we know which one is the better mouse trap.
The Chiron is 500lbs lighter than the Plaid in this video and has 500hp more than the Plaid as well. I forgot to mention that. Makes the Plaid even more impressive.

Never before have i appreciated how awesome the Chiron looks from behind. Mostly because people usually film them from the front. It's looks amazing, especially at "speed". Putting speed in quotes, because for the Chiron 150-200mph is basically a walking pace.

Yeah this race has already been done plaid won every time till they did a 30mph roll race then they were neck and neck till chirons traction control could get a handle on things then it left the plaid. The chiron needs to be hybrid for better traction gas cars cant control it as well especially when the chiron makes over 900ftlbs at 1800rpm
Yeah if tesla doesn't get the launch it's pretty much over immediately. Ie race 2 But in saying that I find these races are pointless. Electric instant torque is always going to win when an ice car has to go through its rev range to make power.
4:46 I'm looking at the braking distance and have to ask: were they not running in track mode? It gives much more aggressive regen braking which is helpful for braking distance.
Also, the Plaid started with 93% SOC and from other channels each drag race pull uses 3% so when the roll races started it was. at 87% SOC. With 15% more power from the 4680's I'm sure it would have used less power over time.
@@hulkster4374 You fell for Tesla Marketing. 6x more power per cell. Because each 4680 is way bigger than the 1865. But there are less 4680 than 1865 in each pack. Total power will be comparable. The numbers refer to the size of the battery. 46mm diameter 80 mm height vs 18mm diameter 65mm height. Of course there is more energy and power per cell...

You neglected to mention better thermal conduction, tabless-better current conduction, more advanced anode and cathode materials and the fact that there is less weight for cell case with fewer larger batteries. Doesn't change the fact that it is quicker than a 5 million hypercar with 480 more horsepower.

The car windows of the Bugatti are open for the first few secs in the last on the roll race ? You can see them closing. Doesn’t that make a big difference given how close this race is ?

One of my good friends had a Mclaren 720s Spider he traded it in for the Tesla Plaid. When I sat in his passenger seat and he hit it full throttle I was blown TF away. The first time experiencing that seemed like a blur. When we slowed down the only thing I could say is, “this 💩 should be illegal!” It’s an experience I can’t explain. You just have to experience it. I got to drive it and it just felt like I was in another universe.
My good friend got an S Plaid early last year. Even with 4 big guys in there there was no way to describe that first Plaid run. I've had hot rods, cars on Nitrous and this was on a completely different level. The X Plaid was announced right around that time so I locked in an order. Picked it up last April and it's by far my favorite car I've ever owned. We drive from Socal to Vegas all the time and it's an absolute blast. It'll make it all the way without charging if I go slow which I've only tried once or twice 😭 It's slightly slower than the Plaid S due to weight but overall it's an amazing machine.
@@JK_Vegas they really are amazing cars. What people also fail to realize is this car will drive for you. You can sit back and watch this car have a mind of its own take you from point A to point B. Then when it’s time to go fast it has you there as well. I wish people would open up a little more to the future of electric cars.

I'm personally a hardcore Tesla fan but I've got to say, that Bugatti just like the Plaid is one hell of a machine, a complete masterpiece. I've never seen a stock car on this channel keep up with a Plaid. The Bugatti and the Tesla are both a perfect match in the 1/4 mile, the Tesla has an advantage off the line with instant torque and not having to shift. After 250 km/h (150mph) The bugatti would probably pass the Tesla as it has a significantly higher top speed considering the Plaid is limited to 175 mph. The bugatti would get destroyed by the Roadster when it comes out, hopefully in 2023 or 2024. I can't wait!

Hard to believe the Plaid absolutely slapped the regular Chiron all the way up to 150MPH or so. I just found it truly incredible seeing the Tesla being slightly ahead every single time despite having nothing stripped out but the Chiron is a truly incredible car as well. Can never get enough of that Quad Turbo W16 engine! 😎 I do wonder how crazy it would be having the Plaid turned into a race car (weight removal and carbon fiber front bucket seats) would be insanely overpowered considering it can already pull ahead strong with nearly 400 less HP and all of the weight being included. Also this video goes to show why racing brakes are important on a car and same for aero, wing, and ride height.
Now this is where comparing electric to conventional HP figures doesn’t work! The Plaid is 1100 Wheel hp and the Chiron is 1500 crank hp so around 1250-1300 WHP So when you compare those whp numbers things get closer, also the Chiron was pulling back in every race(it wasn’t slapped..) Weirdly more so in the drags than the roll. The Plaid is super impressive and the scary thing is you feel just a slight software update could in the near future unleash more hp. I think the McLaren 720s replacement will better the Plaid just with far less hp.
@@WeirdBrick Wait why does the Tesla have so much more WHP than what it actually makes? I believe the Chiron loses it because of the simple fact that you honestly can’t spin those tires much harder than 100+ under the big HP number to the wheels. Can’t get traction so easily either so even more of that HP is lost on the Chiron! Also one thing to note is they might’ve not been running the correct fuel for the Chiron to actually achieve the 1.5k HP it’s supposed to have. Significantly less is available if they used regular pump gas that wasn’t a higher octane level.
You don't want to start modifying - the key is stock vs. stock. Once you get into the modification world, there are plenty of ICE cars which will slap you silly.

Roadster still wont even be as quick as a Barra or 2j lol. The quickest EV at the moment is a 1 off Mustang that did a low 8. Won't be long and Ford will dominate the EV market.
My experience matches this -- the Tesla brakes are perfectly fine for very aggressive driving and quarter mile drag strips, but repeated runs from 170mph to zero will overheat the brakes. But cmon, how often are people really doing that outside of youtube videos? The fact that the family sedan I drive my kids to canada in can keep up with a $3.6 million supercar with 1500hp is just crazy.

The brakes on the plaid are literally unsafe for how fast it is. Should have not have ever been sold without carbon ceramics.
It's sold as a family sedan, you have the option to add ceramics if you want to do more than just drive highways and drag race with it.
Few people care about "track" racing where the driver has to brake a dozen times a minute, but if someone's really interested then they should know what they need for their specific niche case.
TeslaPlaidChannel has been doing hundreds of drag races with the stock brakes without any problems whatsoever.
Then why isn't there a NTHSA investigation on the numerous accidents involving the brakes? Sure it could use more braking power in track conditions but day to day driving which is what the majority of people who own these cars use them for is not a problem. Jeez, some of you mofos run with anything to make you fell good. Pathetic.
It comes standard with steel Brembo brakes and optional ceramic brakes.

The plaid just has a crazy launch. If you look at every race the chiron starts pulling just before they start braking. In a roll race or a 1/2 mile the chiron would be way ahead.
But for raw performance the plaid is easily the better value though, considering its $100k - $150k vs $3M+

Yes indeed, but that aside Brooks often react faster than the competition, makes a world of difference, that 1 race with reversed rolls had a different outcome which just add to that fact. Have a system for start and someone who will not be nr 2 on the throttle each time and I think it's gonna be way tighter, then again just goes to show how much difference being first will do for cars this fast.

I've driven some fast-ish cars, and the only EV I tried was 80 HP Renault Twingo. The most boring of all EVs on the planet. But it was the most exciting experience ever. The fact you have 100% power available at the touch of the accelerator, and the fact it can reach 50kph with the blink of an eye is just amazing. Gas/diesel cars need to rattle all their stuff to get their lazy arse moving and they just felt like an obsolete piece of technology since.

Uh oh, with the Plaid running this close it almost certainly means that a 4680 equipped Plaid might just beat the Chiron.
Also, the Plaid started with 93% SOC and from other channels each drag race pull uses 3% so when the roll races started it was. at 87% SOC. With 15% more power from the 4680's I'm sure it would have used less power over time.

ALL Tesla's have a 1-speed transmission. What is different between the M3P and the Plaid are the carbon sleeved motors not the drivetrain.

One of my good friends had a Mclaren 720s Spider he traded it in for the Tesla Plaid. When I sat in his passenger seat and he hit it full throttle I was blown TF away. The first time experiencing that seemed like a blur. When we slowed down the only thing I could say is, “this 💩 should be illegal!” It’s an experience I can’t explain. You just have to experience it. I got to drive it and it just felt like I was in another universe.
My good friend got an S Plaid early last year. Even with 4 big guys in there there was no way to describe that first Plaid run. I've had hot rods, cars on Nitrous and this was on a completely different level. The X Plaid was announced right around that time so I locked in an order. Picked it up last April and it's by far my favorite car I've ever owned. We drive from Socal to Vegas all the time and it's an absolute blast. It'll make it all the way without charging if I go slow which I've only tried once or twice 😭 It's slightly slower than the Plaid S due to weight but overall it's an amazing machine.

Then when it’s time to go fast it has you there as well. I wish people would open up a little more to the future of electric cars.

I'm personally a hardcore Tesla fan but I've got to say, that Bugatti just like the Plaid is one hell of a machine, a complete masterpiece. I've never seen a stock car on this channel keep up with a Plaid. The Bugatti and the Tesla are both a perfect match in the 1/4 mile, the Tesla has an advantage off the line with instant torque and not having to shift. After 250 km/h (150mph) The bugatti would probably pass the Tesla as it has a significantly higher top speed considering the Plaid is limited to 175 mph. The bugatti would get destroyed by the Roadster when it comes out, hopefully in 2023 or 2024. I can't wait!

Hard to believe the Plaid absolutely slapped the regular Chiron all the way up to 150MPH or so. I just found it truly incredible seeing the Tesla being slightly ahead every single time despite having nothing stripped out but the Chiron is a truly incredible car as well. Can never get enough of that Quad Turbo W16 engine! 😎
I do wonder how crazy it would be having the Plaid turned into a race car (weight removal and carbon fiber front bucket seats) would be insanely overpowered considering it can already pull ahead strong with nearly 400 less HP and all of the weight being included. Also this video goes to show why racing brakes are important on a car and same for aero, wing, and ride height.
Now this is where comparing electric to conventional HP figures doesn’t work!
The Plaid is 1100 Wheel hp and the Chiron is 1500 crank hp so around 1250-1300 WHP
So when you compare those whp numbers things get closer, also the Chiron was pulling back in every race(it wasn’t slapped..) Weirdly more so in the drags than the roll.
The Plaid is super impressive and the scary thing is you feel just a slight software update could in the near future unleash more hp.
I think the McLaren 720s replacement will better the Plaid just with far less hp.

I believe the Chiron loses it because of the simple fact that you honestly can’t spin those tires much harder than 100+ under the big HP number to the wheels. Can’t get traction so easily either so even more of that HP is lost on the Chiron! Also one thing to note is they might’ve not been running the correct fuel for the Chiron to actually achieve the 1.5k HP it’s supposed to have. Significantly less is available if they used regular pump gas that wasn’t a higher octane level.
You don't want to start modifying - the key is stock vs. stock. Once you get into the modification world, there are plenty of ICE cars which will slap you silly.

Roadster still wont even be as quick as a Barra or 2j lol. The quickest EV at the moment is a 1 off Mustang that did a low 8. Won't be long and Ford will dominate the EV market.

My experience matches this -- the Tesla brakes are perfectly fine for very aggressive driving and quarter mile drag strips, but repeated runs from 170mph to zero will overheat the brakes. But cmon, how often are people really doing that outside of youtube videos?
The fact that the family sedan I drive my kids to canada in can keep up with a $3.6 million supercar with 1500hp is just crazy.
