Hi, thank you so much for this video. I just purchased this filter today and I’m really excited to get it going. Can you tell me if you fill the canister up with water before you re-attach the top? If you have trouble with air bubbles in tubes on start up; hold out put in bucket and place bucket below tank bottom glass level for few seconds to fill bucket and release air pockets in hoses.

@@CesarCinema wth , after 3 weeks my tank smelled like a odor from fish , it wasnt necessarily dirty tho but what do you do bout the smell , especially if you only changing for 3 4 months
Hello Cesar, would you mind to tell me what brand aquarium tank do you have ? I’m buying mine in a couple of days, was thinking glass aquarium 50 gallon. Thanks man !
Your fish tank looks great. How big is largest koi in your tank? My koi fish is about 4 inches and I hope they are ok to stay in my 70 gallon for a year. Otherwise, I need to get a pond in the future.
Mr. Caesar, couple ??'s one: the aqua safe guard do you add half a cap to each bucket you add to the tank? second, did you rinse the canister out before you placed all the clean things back into the canister? if so, did you the tank water? Thanks so much for your in put! I Love my canisters , I have three tanks and use them, I should have been used them from day one! has solved many issues I had...
Hi Deena. Yes I put half a cap into a 5 gallon bucket and let it sit for about a minute, then I pour it into the tank. Yes I rinsed the canister with tank water. Thanks for watching!!
hey man, my filter keeps on making a swishing noise and i think it’s because of the trapped air inside of it, anyway on fixing this? it’s driving me crazy
Easy fix, and yes that is caused by air pockets in your tubes. Quick fix: 1) unplug canister 2) pump red knob with one hand until you see only water in your tubes (or 15 times or so) 3) quickly plugin canister with other hand and stop pumping when the canister turns on. That should do it!
You don't need to replace the bio balls or the ceramic ones either but definitely he should be replacing that white pad and charcoal too but he also failed to mention you should rinse those bags off for a while in aquarium water because otherwise it'll turn your aquarium water black
I just got the 320 so I haven't had to clean it out yet. Did you drain your tank until the water level was below the intake outtake pipes so that you wouldn't have water spilling all over the place?
Thank you, great video. But that damn red pump or "quick prime button" is a major PITA. Has jammed since we bought ours in 2018 and now it's stuck down. I hate the thing.
Loved your video especially the priming part. I have purchase my C220 in March 2020; right when the Covid-19 pandemic hit all of us. It is now September and unit just stopped working. When I took it apart, I noticed the filter impeller was cracked. I called Marineland and spoke with a technician; he said the crack in the impeller is not normal and could be the culprit. Marineland will send me a replacement part for free as it is still covered under the three-year warranty clause. Has anyone had any encountered a crack filter impeller? Any comments/feedback would be appreciated.
I use this same canister for my red ear slider turtle and it used to work great until recently. I just changed out the water last week and it's all yellow now. What am I doing wrong after having this canister work fine for 3 years? Help!
I have a cooter turtle that was a gift for our 5 year old son, 6 minths ago. Started out the size of a silver dollar and is now the size of a dessert plate, roughly 15x its original size. I upgraded from the 10 gallon tank that came with the turtle, to. 55 gallon tank. I have the 360 model which is made for 100 gallon tanks, due to the amount of waste that turtles create (though I do feed her in a seaparate feeding area). Tomorrow, I tackle my first full water change. I'll report back to let y'all know how it went. Cesar - thank you so much for posting this!
Cleaned filter first time and when restarting filter the water is flowing very slow into the tank. Checked impeller and appears fine. What else could I check. Or should I return the filter?
Pump the red button until the water flows faster out of the filter. I’m guessing you only pumped the red button a couple times I usually do mine around 10 or so times until the water flow is normal. Hope this helps. Let me know if you still need help.
@@CesarCinema After several attempts at everything I could think of to do I lifted the hose assembly out from underneath my filter to the sink to drain and nothing drained. It turns-out that the valve had been plugged up by waste and water couldn't pass through.Cleaned the valve and is working now.Who knew!!!
Depending of how far you are from outside window or door, you could simple use a pump and a long hose to do that, hell you could take that water into a tank outside and use it for farming on the backyard, I did that. Easiest
You are wrong @ 7:27 when you said "it doesnt matter which way they go in as long as they all line up". The handles of each tray has an arrow on it and you need to match that arrow up with the arrow on the top edge of the canister.
Has your c220 ever Leaked or have u had any problems with it because I want to buy one and I want to know first hand if u have ever had any problems with it
I’ve had it for over a year and I have not had any problems with it so far. I love it. I used to have the waterfall one that made all kinds of noise and was embarrassing to look at, now I have a quite filter that doesn’t need cleaning that often. Let me know if you have any more questions
Great content Ceasar, new sub here. I just started a 36 gallon with the C220 filter and it’s putting out trillions of micro bubbles and kind of making the water look cloudy just from the tiny bubbles.. I checked the fittings and couldn’t see where air was getting in, do you have any suggestions? Your water looks great. Thanks!
Thanks for the support Brandon. Is the tubing that pumps the water into the tank completely under water? If it doesn’t go away I would get the smaller 160 canister. The 220 canister might pump to much water into the tank.
Your media is almost completely backwards it starts the filtering process in the bottom and as it rises it should be cleaner and cleaner to the top where the clean water returns to the aquarium. I made these as same mistakes when I started too. Watch pond guru he is an absolute professional he may be selling you a product but knows his stuff my aquariums have never been so clean after I set up my canister the way he showed.
Dude replace the polishing pad. That pad will just be useless because it will release the stuff that got stuck on there. I am right because I have been in the hobby for over 10 years.
Just because you've been in the hobby 10 years doesn't mean you're right I play poker for a living and I've seen guys at play 20 years that don't play correctly but you're right he should have replaced it no reason to put an old dirty nasty polishing pad it's at four months of waste on it back in there just replace it come on man and also you got to rinse those black carbon bags first in the aquarium water otherwise it'll turn your aquarium black
throw the bio balls away they are doing nothing and ceramic rings look hard and glossy not porous they probably are wasting space they should absorb water the more the better.
Hahahahah I've only been doing this a month and I might be actually a little bit ahead of him first of all those carbon bags you must rinse those off in aquarium water just like you would when you're putting one of those charcoal canisters in your refrigerator for your water otherwise it'll be nasty and black in your aquarium and also how is he not replacing that white spawn come on man where are you were using that old dirty rag that'll just clog up your filter and system and the trays do matter which way they go back in there's a little arrow and you have to follow it and lastly you should be cleaning the impeller to once in awhile to make sure there's no crap on it easily pops off underneath the lid and if you do clean your hoses once in awhile it's really hard to get these canisters started when you don't have water in the hose so what I've learned is just fill the canister up with aquarium water and it makes it so much easier to get it primed and started I learned all this from just one cleaning and having a tank for one month I've got my nitrates at 20 my nitrites at 0 my pH is 76 and my temperature is 75 for fancy goldfish and I have more than you should in a 55-gallon tank but with weekly water changes and keeping your filter clean it's doable believe me even though people say you shouldn't
Dude, thank you SO much for posting this video. I watch it every time I clean my filter. Please don’t ever take this video down! 😁

How often do you have to do this?
I do this once every 4 months or so. But water change every month.
Thank you, great video. But that damn red pump or "quick prime button" is a major PITA. Has jammed since we bought ours in 2018 and now it's stuck down. I hate the thing.
I have watched quite a few videos and no one ever cleans the propeller area in the top. Is there a reason for this?
You should clean that once in a while it gets a lot of Gunk on it I did mine last night
Can you use this filter in a saltwater aquarium?
Thanks man!
No problem
I use this same canister for my red ear slider turtle and it used to work great until recently. I just changed out the water last week and it's all yellow now. What am I doing wrong after having this canister work fine for 3 years? Help!
You might need a new canister. Did you change out all the items inside the canister?
What’s up with not replacing the polishing pad ? Not replacing that is like taking a shower with a raincoat on
Cleaned filter first time and when restarting filter the water is flowing very slow into the tank.
Good to know. Thanks for the update.
Depending of how far you are from outside window or door, you could simple use a pump and a long hose to do that, hell you could take that water into a tank outside and use it for farming on the backyard, I did that. Easiest
Still running?
Sure is
@@CesarCinema had any problems with it?
Nope. It’s legit. Works like a champ
You are wrong @ 7:27 when you said "it doesnt matter which way they go in as long as they all line up". The handles of each tray has an arrow on it and you need to match that arrow up with the arrow on the top edge of the canister.
Omg, thanks so much for this video help me a lot.
Thanks, thanks😀🤘❤
Yup. No problem
You don't use a polishing filter?
Yes I did
@@CesarCinemayeah I think he put the old dirty one back in there it's best to just put a new one in there LOL
Is it good Quality
Yes it is. I definitely recommend it. I’m not sponsored btw. That’s my honest opinion
Ok thx u so much I might consider getting one now
No prob. You’re welcome
I scored one of these for under $20 brand new
Isn't that tank a bit small for so many koi?
No
From the looks of it, seems pretty overdue
It sure was.
Geez, I noticed that
Your media is almost completely backwards it starts the filtering process in the bottom and as it rises it should be cleaner and cleaner to the top where the clean water returns to the aquarium. I made these as same mistakes when I started too. Watch pond guru he is an absolute professional he may be selling you a product but knows his stuff my aquariums have never been so clean after I set up my canister the way he showed.
What size is your tank??? Can I use this on a 55
Yes you can. Mine is 55 gallons
Pro tip: don't do more than one thing a week. Water change one week , filter a different week.
You did not show how to clean the impeller.!!!
poly fill bro
OMG...this is so dirty ....haha
It sure was
Damn that's about the dirtiest filter I've ever seen.
It sure is. And it proves how great this filter is.
Yes and that's why he should have replaced his white polishing pad you don't want to put a nasty pad back in there like that it might even clog it up
Dude replace the polishing pad. That pad will just be useless because it will release the stuff that got stuck on there. I am right because I have been in the hobby for over 10 years.
Sir yes sir
Just because you've been in the hobby 10 years doesn't mean you're right I play poker for a living and I've seen guys at play 20 years that don't play correctly but you're right he should have replaced it no reason to put an old dirty nasty polishing pad it's at four months of waste on it back in there just replace it come on man and also you got to rinse those black carbon bags first in the aquarium water otherwise it'll turn your aquarium black
throw the bio balls away they are doing nothing and ceramic rings look hard and glossy not porous they probably are wasting space they should absorb water the more the better.
Looks like you need to clean it more often and learn how the flow goes. This is the worst tutorial ever lol
How often do you need to clean the filter with this filter becuase I’m thinking about buying one
You should once a month but I don’t always do it on time.
@@CesarCinema ok good to know thanx bro
