Me too. This track is the introduction of the Peart ride cymbal pattern, which you hear in what I guess would be called the chorus. This pattern is repeated 4 times- twice at the beginning (starting at 2:25) and twice toward the end (starting at 8:38). The nuance I noticed here is that there are actually 2 variations- one includes single bass drum hits and the other has doubles. The first time you hear the pattern it's with doubles, then the next time is with singles. It's not easy to hear this without the isolated track because the bass drum gets sort of buried in the mix..

THIS track is why most drummers cannot measure up to The Professor. Aside from skill and technique, there was some mind bending forethought to the composition and fluidity across the entire 9:42 minutes. He makes drumming seem so easy...especially the parts after 5:00 SO damn proficient! AND Neil was only 25/26 years old at the time!!

Keith Moon was a huge influence on Neil, but I'm sure you knew that. Neil took what Keith did and cleaned it up. Keith had amazing feel for drumming, but his technique was not very polished. I like listening to Keith Moon, but I cringe every time I watch the videos with him. He looks like a little kid trying to play the drums. When I watch Neil, well, Neil looks "large and in charge". Like a boss!

Every thing Neil did was thought out to an exact science. while the rest of the band was out socializing he'd be practicing drums or reading some sort of book that he could incorporate with his lyrics. Such a genius. You could tell he didnt waste time socializing. No disrespect to the other greats,(Moon, Bonham, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell, Bill Ward, Danny Carrey) those guys all/were amazing talented human beings, But Neil was like a top of the line robot designed to perfection.

If you listen hard enough during the guitar solo you can hear what sounds like an improvised version under everything. Probably as filler during Neils session.
