  • Eritrea is located in East Africa, in the "Horn of Africa". It is a very hard country to not only get a visa, but also to travel within the country. Eritrea is one of the youngest countries in the world, after gaining its independence in 1993.
    It has a lot of beauty and wonders to discover, and some of the friendliest people you will meet.
    This countries is full of restrictions which makes it very challenging as a tourist. It has also been colonized many times, with Italy having the most profound and lasting influence on it.
    Asmara is the beautiful capital of Eritrea, and in the video I will show you around the city, and taking you through all of the restrictions so that you will know what to expect.
    This is part one of three videos in my Eritrea series.
    Thank you for watching and please like and subscribe!

I read a comment that you are surprised by the comments made by some Eritreans living in Diaspora. But not only, also me as an Eritrean as no answer to that. But also, we are not all like that. There are also many who are fighting the injustice back home. Yes, there was sanction by the UN, but that was not the reason for all problems that we have. If you could imagine these people have been through in the past 80 years, you would cry but then ask yourself how did they do it? and thanks to the sanctions and isolations did on the people, which literally did nothing to the Government but all of it went on the back of the people. Their problem is different from the problem of the world and yet harder. But they never gave up. A little opportunity and they are will be far better than Singapore. The people are the BEST!! And I’m so sad to read all the comments of all the Eritreans living in a free country, with internet, unlimited water and Electricity, sticking up for the government who is making their beautiful people suffer. I am blown away that the “western Eritreans” are not fighting for their people… instead many western Eritreans are putting full blame on the sanctions. There is poor infrastructure in the water supply- the government is responsible for that. Eritrea is directly on the Red Sea which is one of the most valuable resources. The government is not helping the people, instead they are restricting them and not allowing them to prosper. It’s not right.

The inability of foreign companies to invest or trade with Eritrea. Ethiopia repeatedly attempted to invade Eritrea. The electricity that comes and goes, the internet only in internet cafés and the water that comes intermittently are details if we compare them to the fact that the existence of Eritrea itself had been called into question by the strong international powers. Besides, USA forbidden Eritrean to use swift USA dollars , also USA tried to isolate Eritrea by western media to be isolated and no one to invest in Eritrea all this things has connection with economy collapsing

    Dear Zann I hope you read this I am just trying to replaying some of the things you said about Eritrea , specially about the visa . Eritrean visa is not the hardest visa to get . All western visa is so hard to get or you get rejected then you have to change your passport in order to apply again to different country visa that's if the embassy see it allready one country refuse you , more likely you get refused too . All the African people in western country they didn't come directly from their own country most of them had to go through so much problems to reach the country they wanted as refugee or asylum skeers . Then in those countries they get abused so much to get accepted as a refugee then build their life . I do not think you know from what you said . We came in your country it is not a peace of cake . We exprience recisim which we didn't have any idea when we lived in our country . Eritrea as you can see it is a poor country constatntly under war and sunction , this is all western poloticians problems bringing to our country . We may be poor in money but we have a rich mind, rich culture , peacefull calm country . Today intermet driving the world crazy . In Eritrea no internet no problem you can see the country in nutral , untouched and slower . Please post the postive things you saw too . We know about water and electricity already . The hotel you went I don't know which one the first 2 so in every country there is standards so if you pay more you get more . Next time you can stay at Asmara palace , median ,Sunshine , lion , Crystal ....hotels etc . you need to ask people or google for the best hotels before you arrive . Also from the airport you are allowed to use private cars which you said you are only allowed to get taxis thats was wrong information . Can you please find out before you go to the country with your negative thoughts . I feel you already went with negative thoughts to post it here . I don't even know why they gave you visa you should be refused to eneter as your country does to all of us . why they should give visa to you easly if that's the behaviour as a tourist posting negative staff about their country . Think you so lucky you got that visa.

    • @ZannParker
      @ZannParker  หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      You are correct with saying that refugees and Africans living in other countries have a hard time. I agree with you, and don’t think that is fair. I hate the fact that racism exists. We are all human beings and all deserve to be treated by our hearts, not by anything else.
      I was told a tourist can not be picked up by a private car. A Eritrean can be picked up by anyone. The price of the hotels you mentioned were much more expensive and not worth it the price. I only travel with a certain amount of American dollars and was staying for almost 2 weeks. A local guide arranged the first hotel. If I am paying him, he should find me a better one- instead, I had to find a decent one on my own. I found a lot of good in your country and spoke of that also. I am sorry you were not wanting me to talk about the restrictions. The beautiful Eritreans should not have to deal with these restrictions on a daily basis. They should be allowed basic necessities like water and electricity. Sudan was sanctioned also, but the people still had these things. After I spoke of the restrictions that I EXPERIENCED, I moved on a spoke of positive things of the people and the city. I think you didn’t watch that part. I want the best for your country. People want to visit and have a good experience- trust me, when you spend so much time money and energy, you want to have a good experience. The people of Eritrea are incredible- kind hearted, beautiful, friendly and resilient. They deserve the best . 🙏🏼

    Wonderful clip but too short 😏. At around 4:13m, you were in my neighborhood. I loved seeing that. The imperial hotel is just 4 min away from our home. Don’t focus on the -ve comments- some want you to bash the government they love to hate. I am glad you understand the challenges Eritrea faced. Today , Eritrea is looking to the East ( China , Russia, SKorea etc.,) and has started focusing on the country’s economy and infrastructure since the outside threat from Ethiopia has been hugely minimized in the last war. You might have seen lots of dilapdated buildings in Asmara. The gov has left them in such state intentionally. Most of these buildings are a UNESCO heritage site but due to US blockage, UN funds to repair them have not been allocated. The US gov is Eritrea’s arch enemy for obvious reasons but they will come around. Great clip but make them a bit longer- Trust me, I have never watched other traveler’s Vlogs on Eritrea as well as Ethiopia. This is how much people love you and your genuine desire to explore cultures and people.Keep it coming 😊.

      I almost just shed a tear! Thank you for this comment, I love reading your comments because they seem to be unbiased as well as eloquently written. You are definitely an intelligent person. In regards to the length of the videos, most people actually don’t watch the whole video. I’m learning as I go along. In most of my videos, the second half has view-worthy material but majority don’t make it that far. So then my footage and story goes to waste 😥. Even the video I’m working on now, I’m considering cutting it into two, otherwise most people won’t see my favorite part… honestly, it’s all trial and error. I’m still learning how to film, get myself into the camera, tell a story, and then edit. Work in progress. Thank you for watching and leaving encouraging comments. Thank you for the information you provided about your country. I’m learning a lot from the comment section: from facts, to how people think, cultural conflicts, as well as the love and hate people have inside of them.
