Bream and Plaice Species Hunt

  • I wanted bream. I wanted plaice. Any other species that came along would be welcome too. I parked up in Brighton marina car park and made the long walk to the east wall armed with some beautiful wild dug rag and some pumped black lug. One rod would fish primarily for the plaice with a second rod closer in targeting species near the wall. Watch the video to see how I got on and what tactics produced the fish!

Great session Gem, well done on the Bream .
It would be very interesting to see you go down to size 10/12 hooks, with the small cuts of ragworm or squid, straight down the wall. I'm sure you'll pick up some different Wrasse species, and possibly a Sea Scorpion, Tompot Blenny or maybe a Topknot, if you're very lucky.
Excited about the idea of you going light in Norway, some of the lure anglers I follow have posted amazing catches form there on LFR/HRF gear. Keep up the good work, you have a great channel, full of dedicated angling, shared knowledge and top tips 👍

Yeah I want to try more lighter fishing for sure. Not sure my 50 year old eyes can cope with size 12s though lol. Got size 8s for Norway along with a 1000 size reel and a rod rated up to 7g lol. If that ain’t fun then I don’t know what is. I am kinda wondering if I am going a bit too far with that 🤪

@@ClickBaitGem Fun indeed! That's a proper LRF set-up, you'll be surprised how much these lighter rods can handle 🎣

Glad u got Ur bream Gem , far be it for me to give such a competent angler as yourself advice , but when I've ever fished bream back home in channel Islands thin squid strips was the go to bait

Thanks. Squid is a great choice for bream too. I need to give it more of a try alongside bunches of rag.

Gem where do you get your nice worms from ?

Sometimes local shops, sometimes I pump or dig them. Other times when I need a lot I look online to see who has them in stock and ask if they are dug worms before I order.

As per taking the hook out of the plaice you should have been a vet
But I would have taken that plaice home for tea 😂
