This channel is dedicated to shore fishing, mostly from the south coast of England. I often like to experiment by comparing different tactics on my trips and hope that helps people who watch my videos here on TH-cam.
I fished as part of the England Ladies Shore team, winning Gold in the home nations in 2022. I was also the first female winner of the EFSA England Shore Championships, in 2023. Mostly I fish for fun rather than in matches.
I love fishing and hope you do too!

Shoreham Beach | Returning to Plaice Fishing Paradise?
The target was plaice. Fat autumn plaice. Baits were slightly old 'fresh' black lug. Rigs were 3-hook loop rigs with 18 inch snoods. The weather was lovely: flat calm sea, with sun appearing later in the session with glorious blue skies. Plaice were caught. Check out the video to see how Shoreham, aka plaice fishing paradise, performed on this session.

How to Make a 3-Hook Loop Rig | Great Rig for Plaice Fishing
มุมมอง 1.2K9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Here I walk through how I make my three hook loop rig. It includes a mini-clip on the bottom snood to aid unhooking flat fish using the through-the-gills method. This causes less damage to the fish, allowing more to be successfully returned.
Fishing for Halibut and Pollock
มุมมอง 1.7K19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
I was all set to fish for halibut and pollock. For the halibut, baits were to be frozen herring. These were fished on an 8/0 circle hook on a 4.5 foot pulley rig, made from 100lb line - for the rig body and snood. The pollock were targeted on free-lined ragworm and using lures. Note: I had permission to fish this venue from the landowner and no vehicles are allowed on the site.
Pevensey Bay Fishing | November 2024
มุมมอง 2.6K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
After having to change venue twice due to works on the beaches, I settled on fishing the Kiosk in Pevensey Bay. Armed with five wraps of fresh lug, my targets were plaice and sole. With the change of venue, would I still be able to catch my target species? Watch to find out!
Wrasse on the Rocks and a PB Plaice
มุมมอง 4.3K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
On the rocks. Targeting wrasse and halibut. Catching plaice! Armed with frozen herring and fresh wild dug rag, I headed to a favoured rock mark in Norway. The main goal was a halibut, but I also knew that wrasse lived in these rocks. Using heavy rigs - one with an 8/0 varivas circle hook on the business end, and the other a 3/0 loop rig with 50lb snoods - I hoped my quarry would be present. Wat...
Targeting Soles at Eastbourne
มุมมอง 2.8K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
A dawn start. Sole were the target. Eastbourne the venue. Armed with some frozen lug, my main goal was to catch a few soles. Plenty of flatties were landed, check out the video to see how I got on!
Brighton Plaice Chase
มุมมอง 3.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Fishing for plaice. Brighton Marina East Wall. Who will catch the most: Gem or her mate Alex? Gem had fresh (but old fresh!) sticky black lug. Alex had frozen oiled and salted lug, and some dirty squid. Both were using loop rigs as well as others. It was all to play for, with fat autumn plaice swimming around the Brighton coastline.
Eastbourne: Chasing Soles and Other Species
มุมมอง 6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Eastbourne is well-known for its sole fishing, at least locally to me. I hit the beach with an old mate from my school days to see if we could catch some sole. I managed to put a few species on the beach, using some lovely fresh lug from Tony's Tackle.
Brighton Bites: Fishing on the Marina
มุมมอง 7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I had a long session planned. Armed with seven wraps of black lug, I hoped for a sole, and was also targeting plaice and congers. Conditions were good for sole, with it being overcast. As for the congers, on previous trips I'd been bitten off by them, so thought specifically targeting them was worth a go. Watch the video to see how I mixed up my tactics throughout the session to maximise my cha...
Mixed Species Fishing at Brighton Marina
มุมมอง 2.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Sole. Congers. Pout. Bass. Thornbacks. What a lovely mixed bag of species on this session. It started slowly, but by the end I was getting bites every chuck. All fish caught on black lug. And at last! I managed to catch that sole I've wanted for ages.
Cracking Fishing Session in Pevensey Bay

September fishing. Targeting sole. Black lug for bait. Conditions were not ideal, but sole were on my radar. Using classic sole tactics, this video shows how I got on.

Chesil: Beach of Breams and a New PB!
มุมมอง 2.7K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Chesil beach. My favourite UK-based venue to fish. This trip was to target bream, and what a trip it was! Using lovely fresh black lug for bait, during the most hectic part of the session I couldn't keep up with the bites. Check out the video to see the gear and tactics used. On this session, Chesil beach really was the beach of dreams.
Targeting Schoolie Bass at Tidemills
มุมมอง 1.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
It was hot on the beach. The baits were prime. The beach was packed. I wanted a bass for my efforts. Watch the video to see whether my summer species tactics worked on the day.
Bream Fever on Brighton Marina
มุมมอง 1.4K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Bream. Ragworm. Fluorocarbon. The three key ingredients to this session down Brighton Marina’s east wall. For this session, I hit the wall just before low tide, planning to fish the flood. My mate, Matthew, was joining me for the afternoon stint. We both planned to fish light rigs in close for the summer fish alongside a heavier rig for fish that might be lurking a bit further out. Armed with a...

Nice video Gem
Pretty sure I used to see you and your sister every time I went to chesil years ago.. you were keen as mustard then, used to come and chat every time, you could talk lol, l remember you coming to me when I caught a 7lb pollock....l'm glad that you still love fishing as much. I remember you saying that you saw a killer whale off of chesil ...l thought you had lost the plot ... do you remember me?
Another great video gem well done take care
Did you say "live bait"?
Yes ragworm. Nothing wrong with that. Great bait
@paulsimmonds5584 Okay. As you probably know, we Norwegians get a little wary when we hear "live bait" 🤭

Oh gem I feel for you we have all been there where it doesn’t go to plan and running around venues and boy can you tell in this video 😞 but fair play to you for still editing this one it defo shows it doesn’t always go to plan I take my hat off to you 🧢 keep em coming twinkle 🤩 tight lines 🎣🎣👌🏻
Just trying to keep it reel. Shows my fishing sessions as they are not as I want them to be lol.
Lovely day for fishing. I'm with you Gem, love the peace and quiet. Thanks for the video, always a great watch.
Thanks 🙏
Hi Gem, great video thank you. Can I ask why you use fluro vs mono for your rigs? Also why no need for the bait stops on the rigs? Thank you
Fluoro is great in clear water as it’s near invisible. For some species it won’t make a difference but for others it does. Bream for example have good eyesight. Most of my rigs I now make with fluoro as it’s not a disadvantage, except for the price of it!
This is avenue that can produce thornbacks, small eyed and even the odd blonde ray. All rays love pout and with so many around I would have been putting pout fillets out there. I know rays weren't your target but something is surely feeding on all those pout whether conger, bass or rays.
Totally agree with you. I didn’t have the rigs with me for a change of tactic.
Hi, wonderful love it well done 😊 just found your channel
Thanks so much! 😊 welcome to the channel Paul.
The lorry didn't help.
Indeed!!
Thanks Gem , picked up a few tips. Enjoyed it, Tight lines, Take care
Thanks for watching.
You must have a good job, you seem to have more time off than santa!!!
I took early retirement 😃
I caught my PB sole where your fishing in this video 😁 tight lines
Lovely! I do love catching sole.
It didn't seem 5 mins since you were in Norway gem 😂 seems like a bit of a downer coming back to this country after catching them stonkers over there well at least you caught yr bait for yr next session gem 😅 you'll have to get on that chesil beach again gem give them cod a bashing x
Norway does make the UK seem rather inferior.
Nice day for fishing though.at least you caught Gem 😊
You got that right!
You had a bite on other rod while unsnagging! Often you will find a lip at low tide that you snag on if bring in slow. The D10 has come back for a look!
Constant bites that day!
Looks a bit better than it did Saturday for sure.
Afternoon.
Gem why do you put tripod sideways to the water please.
So I can more easily see bites based on the direction I am facing (eg wind behind shelter).
Cracking plaice gem well done. All the best from G.Y
Thanks Carl. I was happy with that one.
was there 20 july was 30 celsius there and 12-15 m/s wind .my friend got 2 pollocks and a smal cod there. was to hot in river so salmon would not bite. loves that area lots of nice fishing spots in a 10 km area 😀and so much fresh air.
I do love the views there too.
👍
Well done cracking plaice 🎣
Thanks 👍
Well done Gem that plaice was enormous congratulations 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thanks 👍
Gem gem gem you were the queen of the rocks and I'm the same as you I couldn't sit there just waiting for the big one , and you've made a happy man as I keep banging on about the plaice & sole that plaice was a stonker that's more like it , O don't you worry about yr hat you look just as lovely without it 😁 well done you x
The plaice was a beast!
So when you caught that lovely Plaice you said that it’s coming back for dinner, not for me as I don’t eat fish. Later you then say lets lit into it as I’ve finished my Tuna roll ? Thought you didn’t like fish
Nice spot lol. I don’t generally eat fish. Except for tuna from a tin covered in mayo with onion to disguise the taste! Occasionally I’ll eat other fish if it’s served to me so long as I can disguise the flavour.
Cracking fish gem. That makes the trip worthwhile. Brilliant 🎣🥇👏🐟👌
Thanks 👍. It was a beauty for sure.
You dont eat fish but just had a tuna bun 🤔 lol. First time watching, great video 😊

Just getting back into sea fishing after 20 years coarse fishing, and cant believe how much things have changed. Hoping to pick up some tips on rigs etc, especially for Sole 😊
Well done Gem !! Gd for you. Tight lines, Take care
That's what I thought 😂
