Thunder Breathing Facts: Thunderclap and Flash is a technique that allows the user to dash one time at the enemy and kill it, but since Zenitsu only knows first form he hone it to perfection that he made a sixfold upgrade that allows him to dash 5 times more making it 6 dashes.
It's also inspired by a real life technique that focus on a quick draw of the sword to make one single slash. Basically, you know that meme of the guy barely moving the sword out of the sheath? It's basically that, but realistically.
You know zenitsu is so op because they had to give him 2 handicaps to make it seem like he tries , 1 is being able to do only one form (for now) and that he only can do it when unconscious and not whenever he pleases.
But, if im not wrong, the gramps is already passed away when the final Exam begin. And when all the things with demon and muzan over, Zenitsu bring his gramps ash to tanjirou's house

Well assuming the Jigoro aka gramps knew all 6 forms (which he probabbly did since he taught them) and he was a former hashira that says he has achieved Constant concentration breathing, he had the title "Roaring God" so he was probabbly was a monster at his prime considering most demon slayers die young and according to my sources he lost his leg when he was 35 so that deducts the slayers mark on him Zenitsu ends fights quickly and hes pretty lucky to only need to draw once to win id say him and gramps are pretty close equals since most forms have an answer for everything a demon has to throw at them.

But having only watched the anime, I think the only reason Zenitzu can only do his attack while unconscious at first is because of how hard he trained himself. There's an anime trope where someone who trained themselves so much doing something, can still do it even when unconscious. The flashback shows us him even telling Gramps that he was training so long and hard that his hair had started falling out then too. So whenever he falls unconscious, his body still has that muscle memory, and drive to not give up. While also having none of the fear that his conscious side does.
