    Hey all! If you are interested I've just posted a new video about how to get the best rates on travel cash:
    th-cam.com/video/NevEyeGxgbo/w-d-xo.html
    I usually take a bit of cash with me alongside some travel cards, so hopefully the tips in the new video will be useful to you too!

    Brilliant, thanks. This whole subject confused me until now.

    I take one credit card and one debit card which are free to use abroad. I use the Halifax Clarity credit card and Starling debit card. These two work fantastically for me. I also take a small amount of local currency as well as my normal bank card. My normal bank card charges me abroad so this is strictly kept as a back up. Fortunately I’ve not had to use this in this past. Great video! It’s nice to see one of these videos that focus on British cards rather than the usual American ones!

      hi there, hope you don't mind me asking but ill be going to usa for 3/4 months in two weeks time, i've tried to do my research and starling does seem the best option but im slightly confused on how you would top it up. can you ask for it to be dollars from the start or is it topped up with pounds and then converted when using the card or withdrawing from an atm? hope the question makes sense, cheers!

    Hi Jamie, can you review the american express cards?

      I can certainly look into it! What cards are you thinking about in particular?

      Hey just saw you commented on my updated video so hopefully you got the answer you need! But yeah, you just transfer money into Starling like any other bank account, and it will do the conversion at the time of the transaction or ATM withdrawal :)

    I don't understand my e.g starling is not always accept when it has MasterCard ?

      It really depends on what you are buying. When you hire a car for instance they place a 'hold' on some funds on your card as a deposit, which means that money is not available for you to spend in case they need to take it off your card. Expensive hotels sometimes do this too when you check in, and usually this is how buying petrol works as well. Sometimes they can only do this on a credit card - however most places nowadays should accept debit cards too (you can always check with them beforehand). Starling is now a debit card so it should work fine in most cases, but other cards that are just prepaid such as STA Travel's prepaid card or the Post Office's would not be accepted. Does that help explain at all?

      jamieroundtheworld I like your videos on cards, I can't find a TH-cam channel doing cards in the UK there are a lot of USA channel could you expand and start doing cards information, like pros/cost e.g American express Platinum and how to make the best use of them in the UK, I think this could help your channel because I think there is a void in UK card review/information in the UK my personal opinion.

      Great idea, thanks for the feedback! I have started writing more content on my website jamieroundtheworld.com but I will certainly look into doing more videos about this subject :)

    Aqua?! But at what APR? Poor choice.

    • @jamieroundtheworld
      @jamieroundtheworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      bitTorrenter yes Aqua has a very high APR but if you always pay off your credit card in full you will never pay that. I’ve never paid a penny in interest to any of the credit cards I have. If you watch my video specifically on travel credit cards I only recommend the Aqua card for people who lack a good credit score and won’t be able to get the other cards ☺️
