    *Hey, big update!* Currensea now uses the top Interbank Rate for *16* major currencies, meaning it is even better value and definitely one of the best options for overseas spending!

    Hi Jamie. Firstly, thanks for the reviews. I find them really interesting. My question is I have a starling account will currensea be of benefit?

    • @jamieroundtheworld
      @jamieroundtheworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching ☺️ In terms of value, no Currensea wouldn't add much benefit. Currensea can't connect to Starling so it doesn't work in that respect, and Starling is already pretty much the best value foreign spending you can get.
      However Currensea still may be useful to you if you want a back up card whilst abroad, and have another 'normal' bank account to link it too. That way you will have the Starling for most spending, and then the Currensea card as a backup.

    So what I've gathered is Starling is better for my trip to turkey but I don't think its worhtit to make a whole new account for an 11day holiday, but I'll keep it in mind for future trips

    When I'm going to Hungary I'm going to use this card and Metro to see what the difference is with currency exchange.

    Good informative video. But as someone that already has Starling for travel (and curve and 0% travel credit card as backups) I don't think this is for me. But I certainly welcome more choice and options as a consumer.

    I'm wanting to make purchases in dollars on Ali express as I get a slightly better price. What credit card offers best exchange rate without exchange charges IE pounds to dollers ?

    Hi Jamie
    Could you please do a video comparing the pros and cons of the MasterCard and Interbank rates

    • @YeCannyDaeThat
      @YeCannyDaeThat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know there is a Visa rate too....

    • @jamieroundtheworld
      @jamieroundtheworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, I am actually thinking about starting a series of mini videos covering very specific topics that i can produce quickly, so this might be a good one to do thanks!
      In basic terms, Interbank generally offers the best exchange rate (but usually has some form of markup), then Mastercard, then VISA - however they are constantly fluctuating up and down and so it really depends on the exact moment of your transaction. As I say in this video, I would compare other features and fees before worrying about the exchange rate used 👍

    Sounds like it has some cost saving benefits, but that - if a Vendor / Service Provider you transacted with, 'over-charges' you, or your card is stolen and used by a thief - then (unlike a pre-paid / pre-loaded card that limits your risk to the amount you've 'loaded') the only option you'd have would be to submit an 'appeal' to Currensea for whatever amount you were defrauded by: Correct? (Presumably the underlying Bank Account your Currensea Card is 'linked to' would not be interested in helping, because you did not pay 'direct with their card', but rather with the Currensea Card). I get that you seem to be getting some security (by cloaking your underlying Bank Debit Card with your Currensea Card) but it seems that, if defrauded, you would still remain liable - up to whatever Overdraft Limit existed on your underlying Bank Debit Card - if the Vendor / Service Provider you gave your Currensea Card Details Too: True?). Do you recommend any particular Pre-paid / Pre-loaded Cards, where you are only liable up to the amount you have pre-loaded?

    how does Currensea make money. They will be charged ISA fee of 1.20% on foreign transactions. DO they absorb this cost?

    If I wanted to use the card abroad can I use it in restaurants and excursions etc. would I just need to make sure I need money in my main account?

    • @fkwojnar.9744
      @fkwojnar.9744 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use my currensea card to pay online (if currency is different) and I use it in restaurants, shops when on the go abroad. I did not need to but Dirhams when I went to Dubai last year, I dont need Zlotys when visiting friends in Poland... I use Currensea card instead. Yes, you need to make sure you have enough money in you bank account. You will recieve text message telling you how much you just paid after every purchase. And you can see all all the transactions and savings when you log it to your currensea account.

    Is using this card better than using a UK Chase debit card, which pays 1% cash back on what you spend?
