Feel like we shoulsd have talked about dillingham. Dude looked a little shaky offensivley but showcased some really good playmaking and even defensive tenacity. It was the complete opposite of what I expected from him, his shot wasn't falling but he was controlling the offense, making great passes and iniating tempo well. Also giving great effort on the defensive end (to the best his size would allow atleast.) still wanna see him have a game where the scoring really pops especially against summer league tier defenders but Ive been surprised and impressed by his ability to contribute when his shot isnt falling.

I don't know why we keep underestimating how well ridiculous college efficiency translates. In the last several drafts, I've singled out guys for success purely based on their statistical profile (Halburton, Bane, Trey Murphy, Vassell, etc.). And it's mostly paid off. Even guys who initially struggled a bit like Aaron Nesmith are coming around. The difference between those guys and Sheppard is that they all have great positional size. But Sheppard has great athleticism and a strong frame to make up for it.

Reed is gonna be a good player no matter what, BUT he isn't a top 3 talent in this draft. He's definitely probably a top 5 but not top 3. Let's not get ahead, the Steph Curry with a 40inch vert is a HUGE REACH. That being said I truly wish Reed the best in his NBA journey.

If you've got a guy playing at a big program like Kentucky and he's hitting 50% of his 3-pointers while being a menace on defense that guy should probably be the first pick in a class full of non-shooters. I really wanted my spurs to go up and get him but hopefully Stefan Castle will be a good NBA player. I knew that Reed Shepard was going to be the Frontrunner for rookie of the Year and so far it looks like I'm completely correct. All you had to do is watch him play at Kentucky to see that this guy was going to be really good.🎉

If you can't remember a more impressive two game stretch for a rookie in the last 3 or 4 years, I'll jog your memory. Paolo Banchero was a monster two years ago, He was unstoppable, and he changed games single-handedly.
That said, I agree that Sheppard is the most impressive rookie so far. He plays hard, he plays smart, and he plays well. I also agree on how good Stephon Castle looked in his one game.
Donovan Clingan has looked pretty decent, like he will be the starting center for Portland. From watching him and Sarr guard each other tonight, I'd take Clingan over Sarr any day. And not just because Sarr had the historically bad 0 for 15 shooting night. Sarr's shot looks good, and he's not heaving up hopeless bricks like Bronny. He seems soooo close to getting his shot to fall. But he's the opposite of Banchero, in that Banchero imposed his will on the game. Sarr looks like he just wants to blend in. Bub Carrington can be like that for long stretches. And then he goes off for a while. Tonight he was scoreless in the first half, and then he scored 12 points in the first 7 minutes of the third period.
Despite the bizarre story about his personal life, Kyle Filipowski looks like he's going to be pretty good. Not lottery pick good, but he should have gone in the middle of the first round. He's much, much better than Yves Missi, for example. And in my opinion, he's not the villain in the story of his personal life. The scheming predatory girlfriend is the villain.

Reed is 6'3 barefoot according to NBA pre draft measurements where they measure to the 1/4 inch, not 6'1. Reed's per minute stats for steals is great and with his hops and timing he even blocks some shots. With guys like Saar expect this with this NBA craze of drafting 18-19 yr olds that have never even proven they can play at a top level in D1, they are athletic projects and will take several years to develop if they ever do.

Read Shepherd didn't make a few decent defensive plays at Kentucky. He made a shit ton of smart defensive plays at Kentucky and got a bunch of steals or blocks every game. I think the comparison to Mark Price is pretty good except I like Reed Shepherd's jumper better. I noticed in his Kentucky games that his three ball has a completely different sound when it goes through the net than any other player. I can't describe the sound but it's intensely satisfying. I thought this guy was the most NBA ready dude in the draft and that he would be good for a long time. I don't understand how people weren't backing him to be as good as he's been and I can only guess that it's his size but there have been a ton of great NBA players that are 6"2 or shorter.
