    i dont care if his analysis was right, doing that to a teammate especially a rookie is not a good look. i think the hawks have been trying to trade trae for a while but no team wants to give that much. the stories we hear about trae and how he has had teammates dislike him make more and more sense.

      There literally no stories about Trae teammate disliking him, also Trae never said anything negative directly about Zacc, he spoke broadly about the draft and thrown shade Alex Sarr...... unfortunately, Paul George podcast put a picture of Zacc in the thumbnail which make seem like Trae was talking about him. but in video itself Trae didn't mention Zacc when said what he said. This guy "Sporting Logically" went even further with the click baiting with a thumbnail that really made it seem Trae was talking about Zacc.

Also the method in which you're holding the ball also matters; something people can't seem to grasp. LeBron was(and still sometimes is) an unstoppable force going towards the rim and(mainly during playoff time) capable of playing some defense. Trae is smaller, less capable defensively, and isn't an elite 3 point shot maker on a game to game basis on, but he'll be sure to shoot those 34 footers and take the air out from under his teammates 😂

  • @rome8180
    @rome8180 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +32

    The thing about heliocentric players is that you have to be really, really good to justify that play style. Trae Young is good, don't get me wrong, but compare him to Luka or peak James Harden. Luka just went to the Finals. At one point, playing Harden-ball was a guaranteed 55+ wins. Trae Young's heliocentric style has led to between 35 and 43 wins every year. Not nearly the same result as those guys. It's a style of play that rubs a lot of people the wrong way, so if you're going to do it, you'd better be historically great at it.

      Trae young isn't selfless like those 2. He gets a ton of assists cause he's in a heliocentric offense not cause he's a willing passer. He wants to score just as much if not more and only passes when he can't get to his own shot.

      @@itsgl00my88 ridiculous take, imo. The original comparison was bad-he has similarities for sure but obviously he's more heliocentric like a LeBron or James Harden than Steve Nash-but he currently averages the 4th most assists per game for a career _ever_ (unless I'm mistaken). You don't get 11 APG without being a willing passer. He has almost every pass in the book too, at least for his height. He _constantly_ throws lobs, essentially creating a 50/50 between his floater and an alley-oop which forces the two defenders involved to commit one way or the other. Of course, if they don't defend his floater, he's going to take it, but that doesn't mean he's not a willing passer: that just means he's taking what the defense gives him. It'd be one thing if he averaged 30 and 10 and the team's offensive efficiency was actually bad, but the Hawks had one of the best offenses in the league last season even despite Trae's having a slow start and dealing with injuries.

    • @justtimes9257

    • @itsgl00my88
      @itsgl00my88 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@BlueGrovyle I've seen Trae young pass more to get an assist than to set up the right play more often than not. He's not passing to someone who swings it for that hockey assist or making the pass that may not result in his assist but gets the defense in motion as much as he's pounding the ball and passing it. That's a reason someone like lebron for example only averages 7 assists cause he's not just passing for assists he's gonna make the pass that leads to the right play even if it's not off his direct assist. I'm not saying he's a bad passer or anything like that, he has the gift for passing, but I wish pound the ball pass basketball in Atlanta and he was more willing to play off the ball. Like Jalen Johnson running the offense and him moving off the ball for some sets would be really good.

    His response to the All-NBA thing really says it all. He's playing on a team that's not making play-offs and he thinks he's being excluded because he's so dominant that coaches around the league despise him, despite the fact that none of the other stars that are as good/better than him are getting this treatment.

    The real concerns with Trae has always been maturity, patience, and the Atlanta FO/ownership. Trae is best on ball, but he should have wrinkles where he can operate off ball. He's always had a win now attitude (not a bad thing) that can rub teammates the wrong way (especially referring to them as role players). From the outside, the FO has always been a shit show of cohesiveness; conflict in team building philosophies between GM and ownership. 6 seasons later they finally realize he needs wing depth. Can't just have a bunch of guards.
    The inefficient narrative doesn't add up.. Team is top 5 in offensive efficiency every year. He's got the same shortcomings and TO prone-ness as every other star offense player. Lebron, Luka, KD, Book, Jokic. All have seasons with 4+ TO a game
    It doesn't add up. If you zoom out, He's a generational offensive player. Never really had a elite squad around him and that's just kinda it... Happens to alot of players.
    Zoom in on his shortcomings, sure they're valid concerns. But its not enough to deny his talent.
    But people like to have something to hate.

    Trae is also a role player, and his role is instant offense on the ball. For me, he will only have long term success in a good team as a high level bench scorer like Lou Williams, Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry or an early James Harden in OKC.

    I think Trae Young's isoball approach has hurt Atlanta much more than he's helped them. I also think you're kind of underrating the roster because they've been at least better than 2/3 of the teams in the league as far as their talent goes. IMO.
    They're not up there with the championship contending teams from either conference but they're in the group under that and I think for that group they've underachieved. A lot of the fault lies with Trae Young. 😊

One of the better players when it comes to play making.. but, the way he thinks, his limitations on his size, his ball dominant ways, not great offball, makes his fit anywhere hard and hard to win with him, I feel the same way with Russ later in his career, and Colin sexton, I think they are very skilled guys but at that/this point of their careers their styles make winning basketball and a cohesive team nearly impossible.

The best players don't care who is a star or who is a role, they just see a job that needs doing and they do it. Steph doesnt care that he is the GOAT shooter, he willingly played bait and just shot spot ups for Team USA. Lebron plays the Draymond Green role on his team, he rebounds and passes more than he scores. Giannis always does the dirty work and defends the other team's best player. MJ and Kobe outworked everyone else on their team all the time.

    I get where Trae Young is coming from. He hasn't had someone like a Paul George or LeBron James or Jason Tatum as teammate.
    Dejounte Murray is hardly a role player though.
    As for the new rookie class, time will tell if anyone is a star or if it is just role players. There isn't that guy who stands out above all as a LeBron James type of guy, but even the worst draft classes ever have had one or two guys who ended up being pretty good.
    I do think that him saying this about someone who is about to be his own teammate though is a little disrespectful. Nobody knows what he will be in 3-5 years. A Bust... possible. A good starter... possible. A borderline all star? Possible. All NBA superstar? Possible. One thing that a draft cannot tell is how hard someone is willing to work to get better and to prove people wrong.
    Sure, they probably don't have a franchise guy with this pick in Atlanta. But he could still become a damn good player. Most likely, I don't think Trae Young finishes this season in Atlanta. I think he wants out.
    I am sure that some team desperate to make a splash will swing for Trae Young.
    Heat, Suns, Nuggets, Lakers, Jazz, Wolves...I could see trying to make a move to get him, trying to either get into the playoffs or because they are trying to see if they can make a push to go for a deep run team.
    But, long term, Atlanta is probably better off trading him away. Give themselves a chance for more draft picks and cap space in the long run.
