Just to let everyone know this video was shot before any lockdown. I thought now would be a great time to share this adventure with you. I hope you enjoy, stay safe and stay home everyone.
Hey Mischa, awesome video. You're great at flying helicopters, but your riding skills is in need of a major upgrade. 😅🤣 By the way. I noticed your bike was not outfitted with off road tires. That's a big no no. 😅🤣
Awesome! If the only thing you did different was put some off road tires on, it would have made you’re trip twice as good. Pretty amazing you did as good as you did on those tires though.
Good fun. Next time I'm back lets get some enduro bikes up there. Oh and put Mongolia on your list for places to ride. Some of the best riding I've ever done.
Nice one!!! Duke 390 is capable of doing off-road. It is not at par with those beasts of Adv bikes but quite capable enough. Just a tyre with 60/40 off-road/on road will do major good to it's capabilities. Keep riding!! 👍
So sweet. Best video ever! Did not know you ride. A Duke with street tires to, bold. Well done. Great riding and sweet views. Hope you had bear spray on quick access.
crazy idea. kudos to you my friend. i love my 390 in all it’s glory. it’s nice to see someone putting it to the ultimate test. the beauty of scenery is unmatched. is that western canada? any chance you could fly my duke from south fla by helicopter to where you are so we can ride there together 😂?
Now THAT is a much better way to transport a bike to your favorite riding spot!👍👍 You did good for running 100 / 0 tires (100% street, 0% off-road). You'd be much better off with even 80/20 tires in that terrain. 50/50 would be ideal. 20/80 or 90/10 would be even better, but they're a bit noisy on the road, and tend to wear down fairly quickly if you do the majority of your riding on pavement. Those look just like full dirt knobbies, aside from a bit more of a rounded edge to them. Can't get too aggressive with those way out in rugged trails for that reason - front end likes to wash out on you. I think even with 50/50 tires, you wouldn't have even slowed down going through any of those trenches. KTM has always been ahead of the curve. Back in the day, my buddy had a '85 (or '87 - can't remember now) MX125. Even back then it had upside-down forks, and rear disc brakes - many years before this became standard fare on Japanese motocrossers. The left hand kick start took some getting used to, but we all learned it pretty quick after a few bruises and some blood, LOL. Sadly we melted her down after a wide open run down the road, with me riding on the back. Guess she was jetted a bit too lean. Was long before I had learned about these things, LOL! What a mess that made of the piston and cylinder. Never repaired it, because even in those days, a new cylinder was $325. That was a whole months pay for us then!
Yes some Heidenau K60 Scout tires a 50/50 would be perfect. They last a long time. Used on my BMW F800GS for 18K on the rear! A great tire. Not sure it they make a Duke sized set.
First; great experiment, love the fact you went full street mode. Secondly; really entrataining, enjoyed the whole thing. Thirdly ; Carole is super pretty, she should get more screen time.
FYI, The ditches that go across the road are called Chevrons. They move the water across the roads and slow the water down to decrease erosion. Over time they need maintenance or get overwhelmed from time to time with melt or big rains. As you could plainly see they can be a dangerous thing. Your culvert eroded ditch is likely from a plugged pipe or overwhelmed pipe. Some overly large or eroded have sent me for a dangerous whipper when seen at the last minute going a bit too fast to stop. Again great video, was a nice thing to watch being stuck in isolation at home. Groundhog Day #12.
What a difference it makes riding close to the rough terrain rather than floating above it in a helicopter. Notice all the bald hillsides and the hundreds of fallen trees left to rot. The water in the washouts was orange! I didn't see any replanting or any seedlings. I probably wouldn't have paid as much attention had you shot this from 1000 ft up.
That was cool. You did well on the road tires (I think?). I have a Duke 390 but I have put dual sport tires (50/50) on my bike, a skid plate and changed the angle of the foot pegs so it is more of a scrambler now. If you intend to keep off-roading I suggest you throw some other tires on the bike. It makes all the difference, especially if you get into anything slippery.
Which tires have you put on your duke? I'm planning on get a 390 duke and use it a little bit as an adventure bike, but the only dual sport tires I've seen are Pirelly Scorpion Rally.
@@mrruilbax Yep, I put Pirelli Scorpion Rally's on my Duke. I think they are the only ADV tires which fit 16" wheels. They are what come stock on the Husqvarna Svartpilin 401 which is almost the same bike as the Duke 390 (same ngine an chassis). They are expensive but they are awesome. I have put 8000km down on them this year with a combo of 70% paved road and 30% dirt and trail and they are holding up well.
@@ayliniemi Two completely different bikes. A KLR 650 is dual sport through and through...period. I put ADV tires on a Duke 390 because I wanted a nimble road bike I could do a bunch of dirt road touring and light (very light) off raod exploration with. Make no mistake, the Duke 390 is a road bike...but it can be adapted for some off-road, even if that wasn't what it was designed for.
Wow!! I really liked it a lot! Have you seen if you had any problems because of this? I have a duke 390 and I intend to travel all kinds of terrain with it. If you can give me some tips on what to protect, I appreciate it!
Mischa, during the shut down, maybe you could share your Vskylabs heli info with us who can only dream about flying?🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁👍🤷🏻♂️ Did you see any wild life up there on your bike?
How would u compare this-duke 390 to a super moto or adventure bike (same thing to me) I’m fighting myself cuz I want a Stunt bike AND a dirt bike so I tho a super moto would be the way to go but this is a beautiful small bike

Stock Metzelers! Why!? Agreed!

Here I thought the KTM Duke 390 was just a road machine, Awesome !
Awesome video. The small little KTMs are so much fun. I plan on tracking my RC390 this season.
I think you've invented a new sport.
I really liked the way you took that bike on your fav spot.
Momentum is your friend.....
We all wanted to see if you managed to keep it upright. Keep having fun.
Thanks Mischa, great content fabulously well videoed by Dave and well flown Carol! P.S. Love little Apple!
Great video!God bless and protect you guys through this time...
Wrong bike-wrong gear-wrong idea! Good shots!
For some reason I thought this bike would be fairly playful on sand/gravel. Turns out I was very wrong. Saves me the disappointment, thanks👌

This is honestly the everyday life of someone in mexico😂 i use to ride a gsxr1000 through terrain like this everyday on my way to work

Practice makes you better. Thanks for the adventure.
the 390 is on my shortlist of bikes to get - nice to see you out riding one! You love it?

Hey mate! Love the video, great edit and music aswel.
Thanks, contemplating the same , just with nobly tyres
It's safer to wear shoes/boots without shoelaces when riding our bikes.
Very cool video, as always.
Take care
Great video
Crazy Canuck
Surprised you didn't put some scrambler tyres on before the big trip.

Haha awesome. Off road tires should have been your first thought though. Lucky you made it 100 feet without popping one let alone the distance
Hi! Which tires did you use?
That was cool. You did well on the road tires (I think?).

How would you say this stacks up against a KLR 650?

oh my, dude, you have the life. I would be doing the same things as you but right now its only getting the certs
Any issues with the duke engine cutting out randomly?

Better with the helicopter than the bike.....LOL

This would've been perfect for a collab with Fortnine
Next time put some aggressive dual sport tires on it.
FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in love whith helicopter girl ,,,👍
It was a cringe watching those tires on that terrain.
In my city people call this highway
Sort of a lot of effort to ride a street bike like a wimp on what's basically a fire road.
1/4 send
Meanwhile in reality
shoulda put nobbys on it.. this vid was lame
You not drive bike proper
