Thanks so much for the kind words. When researching this I was unable to find any builds or conversion to the specs I wanted to even give me much to go from, so I just had to dig in start cutting to make it myself. Lots of custom one off CNC machined parts on here.
Got to love how we all found this video. Nice build. People keep asking me why I want to convert my 390 duke to a enduro adv style if the 390 adv is a actual bike. My response is always, because I don't own a 390 adv lol. Anyway thanks for the point in the right direction
As I was on such a time crunch to get this done and I'm not very good at video work, not much if any video was produced. As time allows I might do a picture build report on my website or ADVRider.com
Thanks for the kind words. We were unable to get into Mexico on the planned trip due to some very odd paperwork requirements we didn't know about until we got to the border. Maybe more in the future.
Bike looks good Craig! Nice speaking with you today about the adjustable kickstand for my soon to be lowered 790 Adventure R! You mentioned you do training classes which would be cool to see some videos on and maybe get yourself some additional exposure? Cheers Bill Dillon
If you were here in India, I'd be your instant customer.. I just wanted to know if we can buy these cnc parts? You've done exactly what I've imagined and searched for months! Keep up the good work, more power to you!
Looks great...I ultimately want to do the same to my 2019 KTM Duke 390. The catalytic converter is a bulky thing@7lbs wow! Needs to go. I put the Pirelli scorpion rally str's and Akrapovic exhaust which saved on weight.
I waited over 5 years for the 390 ADV,. Year after year if was never released. Fed up I went all in to buy the 390 Duke and build this Enduro, then KTM releases the 390 ADV about 3 months after I finish this. Oh well... I don't regret this build. I like the simplicity of this bike and the lightness. Now if KTM every gets the 490 Duke or ADV out. I'd like to build that into a full size light weight ADV/Enduro bike. That would most likely replace my KTM 500 EXC.
This is my wife's bike and I don't have many videos as I don't have a go-pro and I'm not very good at video editing. I am testing out some new suspension setups so I'll see if I can get any more video this spring. As I'm 6'4" tall this bike is a little small for me to test personally.
Hi, Thank you for a great video. I have similar plan to convert my Duke 390 to something like 390SMR. Do you notice any handling difference when change the angle of the bike (bigger front wheel, longer front fork)? Does exhaust heat cause any problem with rear shock absorber and rear break oil tank for being really close with them? Sorry for my bad english.
The front forks are fitted to the OEM top and bottom triple clamps, but in order to save cost on this build I machined the tube clamp area larger to fit the wp forks. It wasn't in the budget or time frame to make custom CNC triple clamps for this build. That is what also allows for the high fender kit with a custom adaptor plate bolted to thread holes added to the bottom of the lower triple. I was thinking of making a custom triple clamp to allow fitment of full size enduro 48mm forks and a 21" tire, and a custom swingarm for an 18" rim and full suspension, but with the 490 ADV stirring, I'm going to save the time and funds for a full on ADV light build on that some day.
I LOVE IT!!! That set up is sexy af man. I got a 2020 duke and I have been looking to make it a bit more versatile traveling wise coz where I live in Australia, even tho I live in a pretty urbanized town we still have a lot of dirt back roads and some pretty unkempt paved (more like gravel tbh) roads out in the country side, and riding on them stock tires on gravel is not fun.
Thanks, the bike is still going strong. My wife commutes to work on it as much as she can. I am tweaking it to make it better for her every chance I get.
With the 390 ADV available now, I didn't get the requests required to tool up to make a production run on many of the specially required parts at that time. Then Covid hit and I had to pull much of normal production back in house and that halted my R&D ability. It was still a fun bike build and my wife likes it, so that makes me happy.
Thanks, The challenge with this was to keep the cost down and the seat height for her height and comfort level. Plus I only had about 2 months to design, machine and figure all this out to make our trip deadline. I had a 690 Enduro and it was too tall for to ride, otherwise she should have been on the 690. She likes the height and feel and looks of this bike better. The unique look grows on you. This stock 390 head LED headlight puts out a very good pattern and brightness and wasn't in the budget to change. Now if it gets broken or needs replacement down the road, that's another build upgrade I'll be looking into.
Bro actually you can, but in india we don't have some resources like the front fork assembly, tyres and wheels, so we need to import them, then we can configure as per your wish. One thing there is no bs3,4 or 6, in usa things are different, but it doesn't matter what you have, if you wish to do something just do, nothing can stop you, except the money.
I agree to a point, but when I started this the 390 ADV still have no release date available and I was tired of waiting. It still has better parts on here than the ADV bike has and it is lighter. I can't believe that KTM put out an ADV bike with mag rims and essentially the same suspension as the Duke.
How this video doesn't have millions of views is beyond me. Incredible conversion! KTM pay attention!

nice work maan! do you make an adjustment for the front fork or it is plug and play?
I’d like to know as well

Can you plz share photos of front caliper adapter plate with mountings. Because I am working on same project and I stuck in this modification.
YOU GENIUS !!!! 😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Could one do just the forks and keep the stock wheels? I want to make a supermoto version of this on pirelli scorpion rally str or tkc 80 tires.
Any chance you made or can make any more of those forward pegs?
offroad setup but no skid plate?
how did you get the pegs that low i need that
Like see more video of this project bro
Thanks. I'll see if I can get more short clips this season.

TAKE MY MONEY. But seriously, hows the progress on making this as an available kit?
With the 390 ADV available now, I didn't get the requests required to tool up to make a production run on many of the specially required parts at that time. Then Covid hit and I had to pull much of normal production back in house and that halted my R&D ability. It was still a fun bike build and my wife likes it, so that makes me happy.
Yeah cool... But I wish the seat and fuel tank with fairing needs to changed like 690 enduro, then it looks bad-ass...
