    Gosh, this is my 3rd vid of yours... time flies watching such CLEAN CLEAR info. Enjoying /and so much that I could add.. But I will stray by saying Gibson guitars can play different INVERSIONS (bad word?) without being as noticeable. A 12-string will make inversions stand out more -if that's what you want. I must confess- I had a strat and Fender 75 amp and a case of Bud. The more I drank, the more I turned up the stereo, and the more deaf I became. This was 40-50 years so it wasn't that crazy when I eventually jammed the strat into that floor all the time with shrieking feedback full blast till the fuse melted.. I took the strat back to Fender (in Fullerton back then) put it on the counter and just said, ' i dunno ..' The tremolo bar was mangled etc. To my surprise they replaced everything but the neck for free. I must admit I did not have long hair /and don't try this at home kids. It's just that I would never do this with my precious Gibson.

    Started on Piano at age 7, know all the major & minor scales, left home at 18 and borrowed some guitars over the years from friends until I had my own set of portable instruments. 55 now and am finally making the leap not to think theory like a piano player. Thanks for all your encouragement over the last decade to help me and others get to the root of things and view the fret board without thinking about the black keys

    Theory is fine, been studying it for years. But no need to over think it. Don't make it harder than it is.
    G maj / F maj/ Emin / Dmin/ C maj. 5/4/3/2/1

    Good lesson. I notice you are using Fender strap locks. I used them too and loved them. Then the pull knob on the bottom came off in my fingers. Had to use needle nose pliers to get the Damn thing off. They are nice and convenient and I may just have picked up a shitty set, but thought you should know. It's scary trying to break those off without hitting the guitar.

    Hey Hood, this was a good one. I've just finished about a week on your Red House tutorial, with the movable C7th up around frets 7,8 and 9. Sounds kinda jazzy, and adds to my collection of hot licks.
    Your A minor shape on the 12th fret on this lesson sounds cool when you strike it at 12, then drag it back home to the first fret. Keep 'em comin' Buddy, I just got a Modern Player Tele with the Strat pickup in the middle and a Strat bridge, and I'm breaking it in. You wouldn't believe the fit and finish on this Korean gem.

      It says Fender, so it is expensive. Do the China thing. Darren Braun website? $100 blue burst Indeo strat style guitar. $200 tube amp. For $300, a great sounding guitar and amp.

    Ya im with ya all the way til the relative minor how can g6 a major turn minor, ugh theory ....i really want to get this.
    I understand am is the relative minor of c but a g6 is spelled 135 6 no flatted third ...ugh im dum lol

    • @Hoodrio
      @Hoodrio  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      G6 = Em (G-B-E). E is the 6th in the G Major scale, so it is the relative minor. Just as A is the 6th in the key of C.

    I'm still learning, but you're in the key of C major, why are you saying g-6, which is the 6 note in a G major scale in order to get it's relative E minor, which is the 3 note in the C major scale, and you're saying f-6, which is the 6 note of the f major scale in order to get it's relative D minor, which is the 2 note in the C major scale. Wouldn't it just be easier to call the g-6, and f-6 a 2 and 3 of the C major scale. Is there a reason to think of it the way you're explaining it? It just seems a lot easier to call it the 2 and 3 notes of the C major scale which I already know are minor notes.

    • @Hoodrio
      @Hoodrio  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, as I've said in earlier comments, watch Part Two, which is linked at the end of the video and shows the whole C Major Scale played in triads. The reason to highlight the 6th chords is because that is the way they are often named, and people need to understand the concept of the relative minor being the 6th interval.

      He is renaming the iii and ii chords of the key to inverted v with a 6th added and a ii chord with a 6th added. Basically calling their roots the 6ths of the previous V and IV chords.
