As a pastor you did a great ministry. It is in my heart that there is a huge need for missionaries or monks on the street in the midst of the terrible needs of the people. And of course you didn't much go hungry or sleep in the street. That is how Jesus sent out disciples to minister: it is a very powerful way of reaching people. St. Francis himself was that kind of freelance disciple for that work is the work of the disciple rather than a parish priest or a hired preacher or an elder or deacon or a scholar or church.functionary. And what you did could be done by a biblically trainednand astute layman as well
Was discerning priesthood but discerned out into a writing role specifically converting protestants. My parish though is a franciscan parish. The 2 friars that staff it are amazing

The clergy, both conciliary or traditionnal, locks itself in a kind of 'comfort zone' with a flock totally on its side and doesn't bother of all the lost sheep. What these two Franciscan friars did in Spain is simply what Jesus did and what the saints did: stride up and down the streets to meet the ordinary people, the sinners who have lost the tie with the Church. God bless them!
