      by any standard this tank was a piece of Nazi crap and in some ways it helped the Nazis lose the war because it was too complicated, too heavy suffered too many breakdowns and took many hours and men from the battle field to fix - it was the German mentality that proved Germany's downfall in the end

    J'ai beau me dire souvent que c'est un char des années 40-50 ... Je ressens toujours une certaine forme de modernité à chaque fois que je le vois .

    • @leneanderthalien
      @leneanderthalien 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ce char est une compilation des meilleurs éléments, à savoir un blindage efficace comme sur les chars lourds Français (B1b notamment) du début de la guerre, le meilleur canon anti char, en réalité à la base un canon anti aérien de 88mm (le seul qui parvenait à percer un B1b en 1940...) et la conception "à la russe" du train chenillé qui était (avec la fiabilité catastrophique) le gros point faible du tigre...le seul truc "oublié" c'est le moteur diesel, plus efficace sur un lourd blindé et utilisant un carburant moins inflammable (et que les Russes utilisaient sur leur t34...)

    • @moncomptegoogle352
      @moncomptegoogle352 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leneanderthalien Je ne comprends pas votre commentaire "A la Russe". Les chenilles ne sont pas de conception Russe et la fiabilité des armes Russe en 39-45 n'avait rien a envier aux Allemands. Le T34 est sans doute le plus fiable de toute la ww2 et il a le luxe d'être très peu cher et facile d'entretien

    • @BFVK
      @BFVK 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leneanderthalien Mais sérieux arretes, effaces tes messages c'est d'un ridicule...
      - Le B1 bis n'a pas de blindage efficace comme le Panther, il éclate en morceaux vers l'intérieur du char, les flancs sont verticaux là oule Panther a un blindage homogène et incliné (et le blindage est un element passif defensif qui n'agit pas sur l'ennemi, le dernier point a mettre en avant quand on parle d'un char.)
      - Le Panther a un 75 mm AC, mais il serait dérivé d'un canon de 88 AA ? Non, les deux tubes ont des conceptions différentes.
      De plus cela cantonne le Panther au role d'anti chars a longue portée, cas de figure restrictif (casser du T34 a longue porté dans la steppe russe). En Normandie, en Italie, en Belgique, partout ou il n'y a pas de vaste steppe avec des chars a découvert, les équipages réclament des obus explosifs puissants pour traiter l'infanterie...
      - La conception du train de roulement n'a rien de "russe". Les soviets ont acheté le système Christie suspension hélicoïdale qui n'a rien a voir avec le système allemand de suspension a barres de torsions.
      Et je parie que tu as des chiffres sur une fiche technique qui te disent que le Panther avait la même mobilité que le T34 alors que la réalité de la vraie vie des vraies choses en réel dit que le Panther est un veau qui se traine.
      Les rapports d'équipages allemands font l'éloge du Sherman, de son moteur puissant, de sa mobilité, de la puissance de son obus explosif et réclament des chars moyens plutot que leurs lourds Panther. Commandement, mobilité, puissance de feu polyvalente, c'est ça qui fait un bon char, un jour tu comprendras que le B1 bis n'a que du blindage et que ça ne sert a rien d'avoir un blindage mal commandé portant des armes mal servies pendant une courte durée sur le champ de bataille.

    • @majorrgeek
      @majorrgeek 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the T34 was better tank, it actually won ww2 along with the Sherman - both these tanks were designed to win a war

    • @majorrgeek
      @majorrgeek 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mordred's Quest - you over rate an inferior machine The Tiger tank was over complicated. For instance the interleaved running wheels clogged with mud and froze. To take one inner wheel off you had to remove five adjoining wheels. The horizontal torsion bar suspension caused the tank to have a high profile and frequently they broke. The tank was too heavy. The engine, transmission and final drive were designed for a lighter tank, but Hitler added around nine tons more armor to the tank overtaxing the drive train. As the war went on, inability to get certain metals prevented the various steels used in the tank to become brittle causing failure in the transmission and final drive. It was very expensive to build. Only some 1300 were made. It was not an assembly line tank, it was a artisanal tank made in small batches in smaller factories limiting the output requiring special parts to be made by hand which took time to manufacture. It was man hour intensive to make and man hour intensive to operate. For every one hour in combat crews expected to do nine hours of work on the tank. It was prone to breakdown in the field which drew many men from the battlefield to repair these tanks. The tank engines had limited life span of under 1000 miles. Compared that to the Sherman some of which were in continual operation from Normandy to the border of Germany pausing only to change the oil and fill up with gas. Seriously a lot were driven 3000 to 4000 miles with no need for major repairs. The Turret traverse was slow. It too a full minute to rotate the turret 360 degrees. It could not shoot on the move. The turret rotation required power from the engine it did not use a separate motor, so if the tank was moving, turret rotation slowed even more. The driver did not have a periscope only a vision opening. To see much you had to have your face pressed up against it and even then, you could not see the front of the glacis plate. It was a driver’s nightmare. The gunner had a decent sight, but only limited magnification. The Tank was too heavy, slow and not very maneuverable. It was a good stand off and snipe tank, but proved a disaster in urban situations, in towns, cities or places like the Bocage area of France and the heavily mudded areas of eastern front where the Russians would draw the tank into in order to defeat it. It was billed as a break through tank, but did not do too well due to limited visibility. Michael Witmann the Tiger Ace was killed when his tank along with three others were ambushed by a group of Canadian tanks when they launched an attack on British units to their front. They drove right into the sights of the Canucks who were in defilade to their right and didn’t know what hit them when the Fireflys hit their side armor.
