Interesting fact. Everyone talks about how the panzer 1 was originally meant to be a training tank, which I believed for the longest time. But then it was pointed out to me that, while the armor is thin, it is in fact made of actual hardened armor quality steel, and mounts actual guns instead of just sticks that look like guns. Granted none of those guns were armor piercing, but it wasn't yet considered a requirement that every single tank variant be able to fight other tanks (the early variant of the Vickers tank also mounted only MGs). The armor is just enough to stop 7.92mm steel core AP bullets at any range, meaning that is was clearly designed to withstand small arms fire. We even have documentation that the Germans had requested from their designers a tank to fill the roles of infantry support and recon, which resulted in the panzer 1. It was designed to fight, not just to be a training vehicle (although they were heavily involved the the development of German doctrine, and the Germans no doubt hoped to replace them with better tanks as soon as possible).
Didn't they actually fight in the Spanish civil war? To my knowledge they fought there against the Russian T-26 and saw that the T-26 heavily outclassed the Pz-1, because it had a 35 mm gun. That was the point when they realized that tanks need to be able to fight other tanks.
The were used in combat during the Spanish Civil War, but due to it being heavily outclassed the stopped production before the war and used them for training
People in England and and some European countries are so lucky to have this historic equipment in museums for all to see. There are some re-enactment groups in the US, but the cost to get these vehicles here is almost cost prohibited. It’s nice to see this, I wish I could in person.

It is easy to laugh at the Panzer 1 but when you think of the horror of WW1 where the nightmare was open stretches of ground with barbed wire and machine guns were king.. the Panzer 1 makes total sense. Impervious to rifle or machine gun fire, able to roll over barbed wire and carrying two machine guns. Developed between the wars, the design was based on earlier needs, it was a useful tool for training and development of the doctrine of mobile combined forces that worked so well in the early years of WW2
The panther only had serious mechanical troubles in the summer and fall of 1943 after the battle of Kursk the problems were addressed and when the 2Nd block started finding their way onto the battlefield they were more reliable but that first generation of panthers really had problems with the transmission overheating and the suspension was supposed to be easier to fix in the field but that wasn’t the case .
Sources that they got better, and not dumb websites without getting accredited sources quoted, I want real sources like with the tiger " Thomas l jentz and hillary doyle's Tiger Tanks volume 1 Because from where I am standing, the Tiger was better in much much more
The Ausf. D was (oddly) the first to come out. Like software today version 1.0 is sometimes buggy. Especially when rushed. The Panther D was VERY rushed. The A & G were perfect though. Best tank of all time.

Fun fact During the entirety of WWII if you were to combine the entire numbers of Panzer IV's, Tiger 1's Panthers and Tiger II's Germany made those numbers would have STILL fallen way short of how many of only Sherman's America produced (45k+) now add all the Tank destoyers America made just the 50k T-34 Russia made AND last but not least all the tanks England made Germany never stood a chance
German tech was rather bleeding edge, even up to late war. They just didn't have the infrastructure to ensure the high quality control needed for such advanced technology and development.
Horses are amazing animals "Infantry and horse-drawn artillery formed the bulk of the German Army throughout the war; only one-fifth of the Army belonged to mobile panzer and mechanized divisions."
The panther tanks were the most accurate tank on the battlefield in World War II he could rip a Sherman to shreds it over two and a half miles would that 75 mm Cannon it was one of the best tanks on the battlefield next to the Tiger tank and the jagdtiger
_I read that they were even less reliable than today's mercedes cars_ The Panther production was rushed in a haste to get them to the battlefield as quickly as possible, among other things, for the 1943 summer offensive. Teething problems were abundant, although they were corrected to a large degree by mid 1944. Final drive was still an issue, and required trained drivers that treated the machine with care.
More than likely not a break down, you see this commonly with armored fighting vehicles when they are being paraded they just stop moving and it is almost always simply due to an inexperienced driver. A recent example would be last years victory day parade in Russia I think, where the new t14 armada stopped in the middle of the Red Square and it was due to the driver being very new.
Haha don´t be so harsh. It was just a little hiccup. This Panther doesn´t have the original engine, though. It is using a 500 HP V-8 instead of the original 690 HP V-12.
Richardsen hahaha, I was just kidding, the Panther itself is a wonderful tank, it sure had some problems related to lack of resources after 1943, but it did a great job
LFCookie The final drives were still delicate though which is why there was a governor installed. They used straight spur gears in the final drives which aren't suitable for high RPM + heavy load.

franz: Scheiße we will never be in stalingrad in time zanks to you
lol 🤣🤣🤣
It's actually even funnier in German.
Fritz: Hans, was zum Teufel hast du jetzt gemacht?

PANZER : *IF* *YOU* *CALL* *ME* *ADORABLE* *ONE* *MORE* *TIME*
My dad served in the Navy in WWII in the Pacific. I have his captured Japanese rifle with the Emperor's seal still on it. His friend Arnie would come over and after a few drinks and me pestering them about the war, I would hear some horrible stories. Arnie was a 30 cal gunner in a Sherman in Patton's 3rd Army. He had engagements with the Panther, He said it was criminal to send our Sherman's against the German tanks. Their eyes and expressions would change and not in a good way when telling things. He said he saw too many of his fellow tankers "Butchered", I remember him saying how lucky that they never came across a Tiger which no Americans did. He said he saw 2 Panther V''s wipe out countless Sherman's. He also said thank god for our Artillery and Air force otherwise I would have never made it home.

Panther engine is a from Kanonenjagdpanzer 29,4l MTU MB 837 Aa V8 water-cooled multi-fuel diesel-engine
500 hp (368 kW)
Ah ok, thanks for the info
Kein Problem
It is a Maybach HL230,700hp since it is the same engine with the Tiger
The original engine is not build in, that's what they're trying to explain
It is very noticable the level of mobility of each tank. The Panzer I was running like a sport car, as well as the Panzer iv. But the panther, had to stop a few times and had a slow turn compaired to the previous ones.
Look up some videos of Panthers with more room to play around in. The Panther is incredibly agile for its size and weight.
I think they stopped to let the guy on the microphone talk about it.
This made me smile. How awesome it would be to see this with all the Pz Mk’s.
Other guys showing off their motorbikes to girls... ME : SHOWING UP ON A PANZER IV.
2:26
Seems realistic enough
For the Panzer IV, I'm debating with myself as to whether it is a G model or F2 model, I wanna say F2 but the barrel is giving me a G vibes, beautiful tank regardless, btw timestamps:
0:00 Panzer I
0:30 Panzer IV
2:10 Panther V
i was thinking g myself.
F2 have round muzzle break,the 75mm L/41,while the G have a longer muzzle break,the 75mm L/43
Gun too short to be the L/48 G model. That's a L/43 I think.
Accurate panther portrayal. You can hear the final drive failing lol
The Panther had its transmission and reliability issues solved by 1944. It was reliable longer than it wasn't
Everybody gangsta until the tank crew loads aphe
2:20 It's been almost 80 years. Give it a tune up, ffs.
Panzer I sounds like a rotary-engine WWI plane ^^
I've never truly seen a Panzer I working. Impressive
2:21
Hans, Panther transmission broke!
Dammit Neigel!
The Panzer I sounds like a bloody lawnmower

Panther is such a beauty
Can't imagine being in a foxhole ... Armed with an M1 Garand and a wool shirt for armor ... and THIS come crawling outa the woods ...😨
M1 Garand: _Kurwa,_ I don't feel so good...
Well that's when you get your radio and call in some good old fashioned close air support
In about ten years they will be able to 3D print a new Maybach V-12
Sundog7 And what use would they be? They were seriously underpowered and would be useless in modern tanks.
To see in the tanks back then lol
The panther only had serious mechanical troubles in the summer and fall of 1943 after the battle
of Kursk the problems were addressed and when the 2Nd block started finding their way onto the battlefield they were more reliable but that first generation of panthers really had problems with the transmission overheating and the suspension was supposed to be easier to fix in the field but that wasn’t the case .
Sources that they got better, and not dumb websites without getting accredited sources quoted, I want real sources like with the tiger " Thomas l jentz and hillary doyle's Tiger Tanks volume 1
Because from where I am standing, the Tiger was better in much much more
The Ausf. D was (oddly) the first to come out. Like software today version 1.0 is sometimes buggy. Especially when rushed. The Panther D was VERY rushed. The A & G were perfect though. Best tank of all time.
@@MXB2001 best tank of all time? No not at all, one of the best? Yes definitly like the tiger 1.
Unglaublich. Tolle Vorführung.
damn, I've never seen a Panzer I before, even in photos or old documentaries
3:35 why didnt he use neutral steer?
I'd drive one of those to work if I could...
The reason why they are going in circles is because they are capturing the D-point

Panzer 1 is adorable, at least as adorable as a tank can get.
Europe fall under Pz1 and 2
Luchs
I believe the Tiger P is adorable!
Ausgezeichnete Panzer. Recht herzlichen Dank fuers Video.
Fun fact
During the entirety of WWII if you were to combine the entire numbers of Panzer IV's, Tiger 1's Panthers and Tiger II's Germany made those numbers would have STILL fallen way short of how many of only Sherman's America produced (45k+) now add all the Tank destoyers America made just the 50k T-34 Russia made AND last but not least all the tanks England made
Germany never stood a chance
Absolutely amazing and beautiful sound.
Panther with a camo is still one of the best looking tanks ever built. An underappreciated tank as well unfortunately.
Vastly overshadowed by the Tiger sadly
I sure do miss good war movies!
What's the top speed of panzer IV and panther ?
Gotta hand it to the Germans, even back then they had amazing tech.
German tech was rather bleeding edge, even up to late war.
They just didn't have the infrastructure to ensure the high quality control needed for such advanced technology and development.
Destructive weapons, yes. Efficient War Machine? Nope
Sounds like someone is believing what the Germans told us
Didn’t it use the 88mm? It was that just the tiger?
@@macnetics1916 The Tiger I and II used 88mm guns
@@macnetics1916 Only the Tiger, and only because the funny Austrian painter wanted beeg gonne instead of the more than sufficient 7.5cm.
No the tiger had more penetration, once you read the accredited source I provide you will understand why
2:25:P breaksdown *flashbacks*
I wonder if it was caused by changing the gears? I mean I've killed my manual accidentally; obviously I"m not tank transmission expert
_I read that they were even less reliable than today's mercedes cars_
The Panther production was rushed in a haste to get them to the battlefield as quickly as possible, among other things, for the 1943 summer offensive.
*"Hans, report to the HQ that we need transmission rebuilt!"*
The engine got flooded
Why the panzer I’s engine deck open? Was engine ventilation a problem for these tanks?
That's so cool!, Where those genuine tanks?.
I wasn't really surprised when the Panther broke...
We cool now.
LFCookie The final drives were still delicate though which is why there was a governor installed. They used straight spur gears in the final drives which aren't suitable for high RPM + heavy load.
+LFCookie • The Panther noticed that it was no German soldier sitting in it, so it stopped. Call it an extra feature. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Panzer I: "Fear meeee!"
Absolutely stunning vehicles with very good driver and commander.
does anyone know why the panther's wheels seem to be moving jerkily? i've seen it on many panthers now.
T-34 and the KV were way ahead of their time and great designs. If they had been used better with radios, well-trained crews and proper tactics they would have totally ruled over the germans.
Dam that Panzer IV is a fine looking tank, the Germans sure new how to make them.
The Panther has a really tall profile, I guess that came from putting the drive sprocket in the front rather than rear.
🎵 Good Old Days 🎵

Is it just me or does the track tension on the right track of the panther seem really slack?
