- Fix Ikea chair caster wheels locking by replacing them with these ultra smooth rollerblade castor wheels. Ikea chair comes with safety caster wheels auto-locking "feature" which most of us don't find useful. In this video, I will show how to pull out and replace these castor wheels easily. Not prying or breaking the wheels mean we don't void the 10 years Ikea warranty. The chair in this video is my Ikea Jarvfjallet.

Thank you!!!! The chair rolls beautifully now and the Ikea rollers are in the trash!
You are very welcome. Glad I can help
Thanks for this! Love my new chair, but hate it doesn't roll!
IMO it has the bonus of looking cooler too! I found an ikea chair on the street and was wondering why it wasn't rolling without weight. Thanks for all the useful background info you included in your video my friend.
Thanks for letting me know. I am so glad my video is still useful to so many of you after so long.
Yes I love my Jarvfjallet Ikea chair but hate the castors. Thanks for supplying this video on how to fix. You're awesome:)
Thanks for letting me know my video is useful.
Did you find the right castors? I'm still searching. :(
@@ahmedhm4002 I just found on Amazon castors for Ikea chairs. They work okay, but is a little taller than the originals. At least I can roll around now:)
@@wellvecoach The same ones? I also ordered the same ones but they sent me the wrong ones.
These also prevent scratching of the wood flooring
Good idea. Thanks. I just don’t know how I will take the casters out now.
I hated these rollerblade wheels, didn't even stand them for more than a few days. They are in the box collecting dust.
These wheels are 1 inch bigger and raise the chair minimum height by at least 3-4 cm which is very noticeable for me, and they slide so easy it's very annoying you are constantly sliding off the table, unless you spin the whole base of the chair to turn the wheels against the movement each time you move.
When you are not sitting, the chair is constantly sliding around the room.
I have found a very good set of rubber wheels, but they are 11mm. I will drill the difference this time!
Thanks for the tip, the original castors were indeed annoying. Just subscribed to your channel, your reviews are great.
I also do like your white desk, may i know where did you get it from ?
thanks so much for your feedback and support. I got it from Kogan and this is the link:

Super!
Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback letting me know
Many thanks for the help on this.
You are welcome. Thanks for your comment
As if the chair is gonna roll away on it's own 😁 Thanx reaaally helpfull for those annoying locks 🙏🏻
Thanks. Glad my video is useful.
You helped me out so much!
Thanks for letting me know my video is useful. It keeps me going making videos for all of you.
Could you drill an ikea 10mm into an 11mm
I doubt that will work. At the end of the hole, there is a groove to catch the spring so the wheels doesn't drop out when the chair is lifted off the ground. If we drill through with 11mm, then the groove won't be there anymore.
Thank you very much, your video is very thorough and helpful.
Thanks a lot for your feedback. It keeps me going making more videos for all of you.
I ended up taking my wheels apart and removing the springs but it was quite a struggle. There were no reasonably priced wheels available in Australia. Postage from England, where they seem to have the 10mm post wheels, was $80 plus. Anyhow we got a nice working chair now. Cheers.
Good alternative, but it was easy to remove the brake tabs on the original castors. There is no need to remove the wheels from the castor body, a hot blade easily reaches the brake tab and cuts it off. It took less than 30 minutes to fix all five castors. If one is worried about a warranty return, then replacing the castors may be better. My chair was only around 60 USD new and replacing the castors wouldn't be economical.
Thanks for sharing. Make sense.
New jarvfjallet dont have autolock now, at least not in Europe. I got one last week
Mate what is that desk??????
A great tip. Will keep this in mind. You've earned a sub in me, my friend!
Oh thank you very much for your support. I normally do tech gear and carrying bag videos, not so much Ikea and furniture videos, or maybe i should 🤔. Hope you enjoy my tech gear videos too.
Does anyone know how to *install* these wheels? I'm stuck! The first wheel clicked, the other wheels refuse to click! They just get in and out of their socket and can't seem to get fixed!
Ikea chair castor wheels keeps falling out Q&A
How you know?
my problem is that the new wheels are too high
Lower the seat gas lift?
I ordered the same but I think they sent me the 11 mm ones.
Yes got to make sure it's 10mm. It's annoying just 1mm difference and it doesn't fit. So are you returning it? or exchanging it?
@@SkyPerspective I'm returning them and they are from HOSOM. I contacted the store to confirm if they sent me the correct ones or not, they themselves do not know. My life has become hell due to this chair's castors and I have to literally pick it up to move on the carpet. :(
I have mentioned this in the product review and mentioned the chair's name as well. Perhaps you can see in Amazon AU reviews.
X00111S4CD is the barcode for the product which I received.
Carpet is the worse for office chairs. I can't imagjne you carrying thr chair everytime. Have you considered getting a plastic chair mat?
I've had two sets of these so far and within 5-6 months the bearings start failing dropping tiny metal balls and grease oil on my floor. Thus the wheels stop rotating properly when moving the chair and it's a huge pain. I wouldn't recommend using those.
Are you able to share with everyone the specific brand that you have bought ? Mine is Hosom brand and I am still using them today ever since I made this video, without any issue.
i did not know that ikea chair has auto lock wheels, thats why it's hard to pus h the chair when i'm not sitting on it
Yap! Ikea didn't specifically tell their buyers, but that's why all their chairs don't move when no one is sitting on them.
they dont last very long, bad product
Stupid IKEA and their ideas 😜
Stupid invention
Thank you, this is an awesome tip!
You are welcome. Good to know this is useful to you.
