Update: These caster wheels are going strong. I LOVE them. They feel so good and I def. recommend everyone who has an office chair to upgrade. Paying for an upgrade through Herman Miller was way too expensive! What do you think?
I bought a set on AliExpress for a very low price (~$10), they look exactly like yours, but the wheels are too smooth, the chair won't stay still, possibly because I'm light weight, so I had to change back to the original wheels.
For such an expensive chair, I was really astounded that Herman Miller could have such cheap hard plastic castors. Yours is one of the best videos showing the sound difference and how to stop any rolling. This is an "upgrade" everyone should do.
@@drewdidntfilmit9579 probably the exact same manufacturer makes the one sold on amazon. i've got a non-descript set off of aliexpress and, well, they're rollerblade wheels. you can't really fuck that up
Thank you! I've felt bad for wrecking my floors for years, but I don't want an office mat. It's such a simple solution that I never thought of. Going to buy a set tonight.
Hi Bro. Want to say thanks. I'm way over here in Malaysia. Your narration clearly addresses the many issues that we, as users, experience. Based on your review, I will be buying a similar set of coasters to replace the ones that I have now. Cheers and Stay safe with the "new normal".
Thanks man! I want to make this for respect to my downstairs neighbors, if the noise of the cheap plastic casters rolling on my hard floor is annoying to me, I bet it's much worse for them
Great pro tip! However, I have those same wheels but my 10 year old LAMINATE floors need replacing especially where my office chair is. The joints in the flooring have cracked due to the wheels rolling over them. I'm putting in new VINYL floors this month but I will be getting a floor mat because all 3 floor stores I went to suggested it. Real HARDWOOD floors might be different though. Cheers.
Awesome find! I have the same chair and I'm having a new house built. My office will have LVP, but I'm still concerned that years of rolling around a chair will cause wear. Soft casters like this should work great!
Thanks for bringing up the Ikea difference. I was about to buy some and double checked my casters because of what you said sure enough they are shorter than normal. Learned my lesson from an ikea desk and chair. Never again
Hi, nice video. Is that also fit to IKEA VIMUND chair model? I just purchased this chair, and invited a castors (10MM) from EBay but this is not fitting
One thing I learn from this video is, the caster in my chair must have been broken. It's a new Amazon basis office chair that I just received and I started searching for caster replacement the instant I assembled and sat on it. It's not just making noises, it doesn't move smoothly at all. The wheels feel like stuck when I try to move around and take me to the wrong direction just like those broken shopping carts. I thought it's due to the hardwood floor which I have never used before because each single wheel seems in good shape when it's bearing no weight, but I guess that's not the issue at all after watching your video.
OK. I guess one highly possible reason is that the apartment comes with a textured hardwood flooring which has tiny ridges everywhere. Why! I disklike this place the momoent I moved in (didn't have a chance to visit in person when signing the lease). I have been trying to make peace with it but annoying things juts keep poping up.
I bought a new chair and purchased a set of this type of wheel for it so my hardwood floor wouldn’t get scratched up. Only issue we’ve had is the chair moving when you try to sit down. My boyfriend went to sit in it the other night and it flew out from underneath him. Don’t know whether to put original wheels on it or put a mat on floor under it 🤷🏼♀️ really don’t want to do either. Is there any way to slow them down?
Did these new casters give you greater clearance between the floor and the bottom of the gas cylinder? I need more clearance. Have an original Aeron chair.
@@QH96 I got a sleeve that the gas cylinder fit into making it sit higher off the floor once you put the bases back on. Free from Crandall and it solved the problem. Still have not tried the rollerblade wheels.
As I’ve just ordered a new chair I started looking into mats since we have wood floors and we’re renting. I saw something I hadn’t realized which is that the mats themselves can damage the floors underneath and cause discoloration. I saw one recommendation for felt covered castors. Has anyone tried the felt castors vs these in line or any other rubber castors?
1:40 Ikea is a European company. So they probably went with European standards. 10mm makes much more sense than 11mm, so I guess the standard is around that.
The're a little more expensive than the ones in the video, but worth it. www.amazon.com/Office-Chair-Caster-Wheels-Set/dp/B01CTIG4GE/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=splaker&qid=1591200771&sr=8-4
The generic Chinese ones don't seem to be the greatest quality from the reviews I've read, i.e. they seem fine but they break. The only quality brands seem to be Stealtho, Uniq, and Opttico, but am having trouble finding those outside of the US.
I've put these on my Herman Miller Aeron chair also. Have you found that the chair loses it's "bounce" after putting on rollerblades instead of the original wheels?
Now our Aeron's can race with the best of em. Slap some ABEC bearings in those puppies and we can fly :p Seriously though, thank you! I am getting wood (SPC) floors in my home office in the coming weeks, so having nice soft casters is going to be huge - as right now they would 100% scrape the flooring
I highly advise not to buy these type of wheels, there is a good reason why chairs don't includes them (they dont want to be sued). Pretty much only disposable compagnies from amazon sells them. They are serious safety hasards (they can pinch severely your foot if you don't wear shoes), I had to go get stitches on my foot because it got crushed, I gave a hard push to test the wheels on my hardfloor and my foot got compressed between the wheel (rolling and compressing upward) and the sharp wheel's metal frame. The pain was serious.

Great to hear just stumbled on to your review!
Awesome I'd love to try this out
You see any smudges or markings on the floor? I want to get this for my Ikea markus

Would love to have an update: How have these effected your wood floors? Any noticable marking? Is it wear down the color in a circle shape?

this should come standard on all office chairs
Agreed.

Did you not put on the new wheels @ 1:03? Seems like you just added the old style back onto the chair.
Oh man I hate the sound on my Aeron, it's excessively loud. I'll have to make this upgrade. Great suggestion!
If only retailers had these in the office chair section
I was looking just for this, thank you

Frikin awesome!! I'm at a place where the floor isn't that thick so this is perfect for sound and the wood!
It's so silent!
They also make versions with a locking brake, which would alleviate the accidental rolling thing. Once you're in a position just lock the wheels.
i have the same wheels on fake wood / old wood / tiles

Ok i got these, but it ended up cutting and hurting my feet, is there a way to stop this?
No issues with me on that!
Why you did not choose herman miller hard floor wheels instead?
Too expensive and not as a good
How is rolling on a carpet floor? I wonder. Any clue,? Thxs.
Works perfectly fine
Also, I have small sand grain dents similar to what you had on your floors. Did the roller blade casters help with that?
No issues with sand and I'll add a new link soon. Thanks for letting me know.
how do you clean them ?
No need
How easy are they to clean? I’m getting a lot of dust in my apartment that get stuck in my chair’s wheels. Maybe this can be a solution.
Zero issues! Still going strong.
Is there a way to disassemble the wheels to remove stuck hairs?
Have no hair in mine sorry I'm not sure.
Use brake parts cleaner with a straw attached. Regrease bearings with silicone or favorite flavor but not WD. Use ventilation.
How have these held up over time? Do they damage the hard floors? With long term use
Savannah, it has held up very well. Do it!
To do this, still going well!
looks like there the SPLAKER Office Chair Caster Wheels are unavailable through amazon. Do you recommend another brand?
The're a little more expensive than the ones in the video, but worth it. www.amazon.com/Office-Chair-Caster-Wheels-Set/dp/B01CTIG4GE/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=splaker&qid=1591200771&sr=8-4
Long term feedback if these leave streaks on the floor?
Not for me. Floors are good still
Why does the warranty website for these lead to an unsecured facebook messenger log in?....
hey man , how is the wheels feels now ? its still good ?
It is still one of the best investments I've ever made
thanks dude

For some reason - amazon wont ship this type of wheel to California. I wonder why? Just too smooth?
Looks like amazon is showing some favoritism to these ones - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MU7H89G

Every thing causes cancer in California.
Repost please when the bearings start to fall out and your chair won't roll.
