2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R Power Commander V, K&N Filter Install and Dyno Tune!

  • Here's my install of the K&N 6009R filter and an overview of the Power Commander V (PCV) install (although I'm linking to a much more detailed video for the PCV install below). I picked up 5HP and almost 3TQ from the tune, but more importantly the bike is MUCH more smooth through the entire RPM range and all the gears - a real dyno tune is a must with the PCV install.

  • @SquireSCA
    @SquireSCA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When you tuned it with the PCV, did you first flash the ECU to remove the restrictions? Kawi and others have throttle table restrictions in place that cuts top end power in some gears, so that even when you give it 100% throttle, the secondary butterflies shut down to like 81% or something at 14,000rpm in order to pass noise emissions with EPA and DOT. The PCV won't change that, it's gotta be done at the ECU level, and then you tune it to perfection with the PCV.

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I didn't flash the ECU first, I may do that I have them tune again...

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eastcoastish Yeah, from what I am reading and watching from sources like Moore Mafia here on YT... there are some throttle and ignition restrictions up near the top of the rev range... they close the secondary flies way too soon and shut down power after 14k, and they pull a BUNCH of ignition there as well. There is easily 5hp just sitting there waiting to be let loose with the ECU flash.

      Shouldnt that sacrifice some acceleration though?

    • @twizted6367
      @twizted6367 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the only difference you’ll really notice with going up a tooth to 16 from the stock 15 is just more top end speed aka higher top speed it will not be faster or quicker throughout it will be slower.. so basically the same bike would rip you a new one if they kept the stock 15 tooth throughout the gears until top speed

    This is easily the lowest HP ZX6R I have ever seen. I can almost guarantee he’d gain power if he removed that Power commander PCV. He doesn’t need it at all. Just a ECU flash, and dynontune. This bike would have easily produced 116-118WHP on a bad day. That 105WHP stock clearly shows the PCV was hurting the bike. I own the exact same bike, year, color, and even the exact same exhaust lol.

  • @AKrush95

    Hey, you mentioned the blip during acceleration from rest. Was that an issue before the PC? I currently have that issue and my bike actually stalls sometimes (even rolling at low speeds with the clutch in I've stalled simply from that acceleration blip). If that issue was fixed for you with the PCV I think I might definitely need that now
    Side note: I've got the exact same color and of Course the exact same keychain. Looks like I'll be going 1:1 the whole way too as I'm leaning toward the Yoshi exhaust as well

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue didn't go away when I installed the PCV but it did go away after the PCV tune (I assume they added more fueling at the low RPM range). The entire power band also felt much smoother after the tune.

    • @EARDRUMASSASSIN
      @EARDRUMASSASSIN 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check your idle . Mine was stalling because the factory idle is set too low . The bike doesn’t charge and the fuel injection doesn’t have enough amperage to operate so the bike shuts off . Crank the idle up to about 1400 rpm and the bike will start charging around 13.3 volts .

    • @ryanlamson4131
      @ryanlamson4131 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dyno results aren’t 100% accurate. Many variables go into it which could alter the HP/torque. Every bike will end up being different. But yes this does seem a bit low lol
