- Join us as we start our day in Brighton with a visit to the oldest aquarium in the world! SEA LIFE Brighton originally opened in 1872 and features a variety of different tanks and displays, all within a beautifully restored building. The aquarium features over 5000 different fish located throughout a variety of themed areas. In this video we take you on a full tour of this wonderful aquarium!

I feel like a architecture made the entire experience more magical and intimate; whereas, modern aquariums feel more like a tourist attraction. I love all aquariums, but this one really feels special. Hope I can visit one day!

These tanks are far too small for fish to live in. The starfish tank should be a max of two per tank of that size. Probably acrylic panels though likely of lesser quality as you can see through them but full of scratches and minor dings. Likely about a inch thick but really not good. Whoever did these tanks must be not informed of an animal’s needs as a certain amount of space is needed and I don’t see it. The ray tank is also problematic as it is rounded in the front but not in the back which it should be as rays bump tanks constantly and they can break their nose very easily leading to blood in the water which is not good. Rays do vey well in circle tanks or oval shaped tanks not that mess of a tank. I own three tanks myself one of sharks, one of freshwater, and a combination fresh and salt tank with a divider. They are one heck of a job to maintain but the needs come first trust me you understand if you own top of the line tanks very quickly.
How do you think Sea Life can be set up with such obvious oversights? They're such a huge name you'd expect regulations and inspections to be shit hot on that kind of thing?

All snakes can swim but sea snakes live all their lives in the sea and are mostly highly venemous .

I was cracking up at 4:10, Charlotte was looking at the starfish and says it's so tiny and Shawn goes awwwww, Lol. All kidding aside really nice aquarium, would love to go. Beautiful!

They might not be doing it because of Covid but when I went to Brighton Sea Life there was a little boat ride across the massive tank in the auditorium. It had a glass bottom and the guide was telling us all about the different species. It is about a 20-30 minutes. If they do it after restrictions lift then I highly recommend it! Also a backstage tour of how the tanks are constantly kept clean, oxygen flow also got to see shark eggs! So interesting!
It was off at the moment due to Covid, however hopefully it’ll be back soon!

I saw England play last night, It was totally intense game, I was disappointed last night although there were unfair tackles fouls made against them, England kept persevering. however England are such amazing team as they've got huge potential which England players themselves have shown bravery courage compassion, dedication through the entire tournament despite being under excessive pressure at penalties, I've got huge amount of admiration faith confidence in each and everyone of them, they deserved to win the final as of now I'm more focusing on the world Cup next year

I've been there before when I went on holidays in Manchester, loved it!
I have being to the London Sea Life many times but never to Blackpool or Brighton. The building looks amazing! The architecture reminds me a little of The Natural History Museum in London.
Anyone else remember when this place did dolphin rides where they would pull you around the pool in a little boat? Childhood memories from my local sea life center
at 14:50 the angelfish are the cichliformes with the dangly abdominal fins, the catfish are the smaller ones, also called corydoras or pygmy catfish, i have them at home and they are super cute, many people also call them waterdogs because of how silly they look. the signage is poort in that tank because they dont clearly tell which one is wich but now you know.

Great vlog Shaun!! Around 20 years ago they used to have dolphins in the big tank and they had a little boat which the dolphins would pull around. They had trainers which would do a dolphin show and get children onto the boat for the dolhins to pull around! Obviously the size of the tank was way to small for the dolphins and so they were taken away from sealife!

Hey guys. Did u ever get the chance to visit southsea sea life centre before blue reef took over? If so do u remember the floor to ceiling jellyfish tank they used to have in front of an auditorium like space

Loving this vlog for sure, The seaside, beaches is my ultimate favourite places, Shawn as I'm totally massively passionate priveledged marine animal conservation supporter from my varied knowledge experiences I suspect the sea life maybe taking samples from each section of the turtles shell for studying the species, as for the fish I definitely agree, I lugh as well lol, they do look funny when their eating the stones, they sieve out the food spit out the stones, as for the sharks, like us humans I think the sharks rub themselves on the rocks exfoliating any dead skin cells also it's a bit like a massage at the same time,
