  • Recently, I ordered two Eachine mini, 400mm wingspan warbirds from Banggood. They were in the $70 range and came ready to fly (RTF) with everything you need in the box, except four AA batteries for the transmitter. They even came with two flight batteries to double your flight time. I have already reviewed the F4U Corsair and posted the videos, which you can find here:
    Part 1: Unboxing and Setup
    • Eachine Mini F4U Corsa...
    Part 2: Maiden Flight
    • Eachine Mini F4U Corsa...
    The second one is the T-28 Trojan, which I unboxed, set up, and did the maiden flight of in the two previous videos:
    • Eachine Mini T-28 Troj...
    • Eachine Mini T-28 Troj...
    This little T-28 cost me $67.20 shipped to my door. In order to get this low price, I pre-ordered it before it even was available, and it took about two months to arrive (I live in Boston, MA, U.S.A.). The price has gone up since, but if you are not in a hurry and willing to wait, just add it to your Wishlist and check regularly. It will go on sale eventually.

    This plane has three control settings for different experience levels, namely beginner, intermediate and expert. The beginner and intermediate levels are stabilized by the built-in 6-axis gyro (actually 3 gyros and 3 accelerometers). The beginner mode only allows a maximum of 20-30 degrees of bank (i.e. ailerons) and pitch (i.e. elevator) angles and stabilizes the airplane for straight-and-level flight as soon as you let go of the control sticks. The intermediate mode still restricts the banks but allows full control of the elevator (no restrictions on the pitch angle) to perform loops and such, while still stabilizing the airplane. The expert mode seems to turn off all restrictions and stabilization, and the airplane becomes quite agile almost to the point of becoming uncontrollable except by expert RC pilots.
    In this third video, I will be showing you the second flight of this airplane on a nicer and calmer day and at the end providing my final verdict.
    Thank you very much for watching. I hope this review was informative for you. If you liked it, please hit that like button and consider subscribing to my channel, so you do not miss the upcoming RC aircraft videos. Enjoy the hobby and stay safe and healthy.

    You'll certainly like the V761-5 P51D Mini Mustang. When the wind goes up a notch it's the second cab off the ramp after the more docile V761-4 Sport Cub. Only folks not liking these toys are those in the Horizon Hobby camp. 😀

      Yes, I just ordered the Mini Mustang a few dats ago. I am hoping it will arrive before the end of this month. I do not like fandom; I believe it restricts people from trying new or different things. I like flying all planes, all brands, even the not-so-good ones like HobbyKing EZIO 800. :)

    what one is better that one or the p51

    • @TheSquirrelRCchannel
      @TheSquirrelRCchannel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The p51 is noticeably faster than the Trojan, but the Trojan is way easier to have a steady take off and landing from ground due to its undercarriage placement.

    Can I ask please, I am a total newbie to rc , and just bought
    this great looking Mini Mustang P51-D plane from Banggood. Havn't flown it yet but I
    noticed near where ailerons and elevator are attached seems to be a few
    small holes. Between the wing/tail and the control surface piece. hope
    that makes sense. I know these little planes aren't the very best
    quality, but should I be worried regarding this? Will it still fly okay?
    Thanks

      Hi Ken. Sure, I will be happy to try to help. I am assuming that you purchased the Eachine Mini Mustang and not the larger Volantex 750mm wingspan Mustang, correct? Could you please send me the pictures of the section with the holes? If you go to Props & Wheels home page on TH-cam and look under the "About" tab, you should see a link to send me a message.

      Most planes with foam hinges have some areas with gaps - reduces the load on the servos. You should always work fresh foam hinges from new to free them up a bit to save the servos. After you have been flying it for a bit you''ll end up with more foam starting to detach. Just get some 3M Blenderm tape (from your local Chemist/Drugstore/Hobby Shop) and stick it along the join to reinforce it. For bigger planes you can add real pinned hinges.

    Have you flown the xka800? How would you compare the two?

    • @PropsWheels
      @PropsWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I did; they are very different. XK A800 is significantly larger and it can glide well with power off (well, it is a glider). It requires a larger field. Also I like the stabilization system on the Eachine and Volantex RC Mini Warbirds much better than the XK model. XK planes' stabilization can be very abrupt and sometimes fight your controls. I crashed my A800 because of the stability system. I hope this helps.

    • @nickhayley
      @nickhayley 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PropsWheels It absolutely helps! I had an XK A800 Glider myself and considering the Trojan. I've been wanting to pull the trigger for ages. Maybe I should just do it lol

    Check and adjust your CG. It's nose heavy.

    • @stevejohnston8543
      @stevejohnston8543 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure how you do that. Battery goes in one way underneath and stuffed inside a little compartment. No adjusting of CG is possible.

      @@stevejohnston8543 I added a 2.5 gram screw to my tail skid. I just screwed it in. It's about 1/2" long. Actually, I experimented with different weights, until I found what worked best. 2.5 grams hit the sweet spot. It really broadened the speed range. It can fly very slow now and a little faster. Plus, it protects the tail skid.

    • @stevejohnston8543
      @stevejohnston8543 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess the little bugger flies good enough for me but I’ve never been that fussy for CG although I probably should be a little more cognizant of it. If it flies relatively straight for a while, that’s good enough 🙂 I find it handles best in the intermediate mode. You talking about the third mode where there’s no stability? I find it a little twitchy and unpredictable in that mode.

    • @davescott9409
      @davescott9409 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevejohnston8543 It flies better in every mode, with the CG corrected, and it's easy to do. I bought 2 of these T-28s, and they were both so nose heavy that I found them unacceptable to fly. They didn't have enough up elevator authority to slow down or flare, during landing. I had to constantly with up elevator, to keep them airborne, although the gyro would correct for that, somewhat, in beginner and intermediate mode. Also, holding up elevator to keep it level, adds down force to the tail and drag, which reduces top speed. To get the best performance, from a plane, you want a neutral CG and centered control surfaces, and then trim as required. I'm a retired commercial pilot, flight instructor, and flight engineer.

    • @stevejohnston8543
      @stevejohnston8543 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davescott9409 Fair enough. I certainly know about trim and the importance of cantering the controls but for me, mine flew fine out of the box. Good enough for me anyway. They don’t always come out equal in my experience. Anyway it’s a cheap little toy plane and not one I’d give as much thought as you I suppose. I mostly fly helis and to me planes are easy in comparison and I can usually compensate if needed. Basic aerobatics and inverted flight came easy for me with planes. Helis are another matter all together. No gliding, one hundred percent active piloting. It would be interesting to fly with you though. Speaking of which, have you any advice to help correct a plane that doesn’t fly well at all with flaps deployed and always pitches up, despite using the recommended amount of elevator mixing?
