For starters you basically just need a sewing machine, chalk, good pair of scissors and the materials themselves. :) Later on you can add a KamSnap tool, cutting mat + roll cutter or even a laser cutter. This will tremendously help with consistency and finish, but you can always start with the basics.
Nice work. I think with the short skimo style skis you could carry them straight and not diagonal over the back. So you could carry them way closer to the back and they would sit more stable.
@@vanCapere Sometimes with a strange shaped pack and a diagonal skimo carry the end placement of the skis can be a bit awkward and inconsistent, even end up hitting you in the back of the head while booting. Diagonal or a-frame carry can also be annoying if you are walking close next to a wall. The blue ice firecrest pack is an example of same side loop/hook carry. In the end it's just a personal preference thing. Really awesome and unique pack. If you ever have any protos with an avi tool pocket youre looking to get rid of, feel free to get in contact ;). Would be a sick setup for an ultralight multi-day ski tour. The fastpack you sent me ~2 years ago carries while running really well, looks like you've tweaked the harness design quite a bit further.
Looks so great! I made a similar, less featured pack last winter and spent the season testing it out. Mostly for light duty spring and summer alpine climbing in and around Squamish BC. Got lots of improvements to for the next version I am planning to make this winter. I really like the fidlock system you used for the side compression - do you mind sharing where you got them, and maybe show a little more detail on how you integrated them onto your pack? I've really been struggling with finding all the little notions and bits of hardware I want, seems like you have a good source ;) Erik
@@vanCapere Sweet, looking forwards to it. Thanks! Also was just looking into the Aluula fabric you used - how'd you get your hands on it? Looks like they're quite picky with who they're selling it to.
Looks awesome. I was looking for something like this. Currently im using the Salomon XA35 which is not ideal
It's a wonderful backpack! thank you again :)
Niemand baut durchdachtere und bessere Backpacks als du! Greets, Flo
Vielen Danke :)
Can you make a video or write about the tools needed for someone to start working with these materials for making diy backpacks like this one?

I may try that, albeit I don't see how it could be more stable that way?
If all else fails an A-Frame carry is also possible though.
@@vanCapere Hmm just by having the strap/cord that you have on the top being shorter. So there is less possibility to swing.

Nevermind, think I found it - Fidlock winch compact?
Yes, thats the one! :) I source them from Extremtextil in Germany.
I will post some pictures on my Instagram soon, where you can see more details. :)

@@erikjackson132 Yeah, sadly it's virtually impossible to get the material. :/
