    Great video. Really feels like a love letter to a cult classic. I really appreciate how much of yourself you put into this one.

    The Craft was definitely the gateway to me loving magic themed media (i tried levitating a pencil and looking at the mirror trying the Glamour spell which definitely made me the weird one in my class). But I didn't really understood the other themes (like Attempted Suicide, Loss, Racial Discrimination and Social Class differences because I was a really dumb kid back then) until rewatching in a adolescent point of view which made me love the movie more and I agree that Rochelle being mean to Sarah was a bit forced and I used to think Bonnie's attitude change was the same until I had a friend be like her during the teenage years was painful but damn she turned into a such a Bonnie.

    An excellent video on one of my favorite movies.
    However I do feel like you missed the point with Bonnie's motivation.
    Yes, it is to be beautiful. But if you think about it is completely understandable...she had horrible scars on her body form an unknown cause. Something she's had for a while and is naturally self conscious about. She's had to undergo painful treatments to deal with those scars and has been bullied for them. Making her feel undesirable to the boys at school. She feels she has hide her body underneath unflattering outfits.
    Naturally, she is going to hope for a non painful way to take away those scars, be beautiful, confident and desirable. And once those scars are gone, she feels she can cut loose and no longer be forced to hide. she is beautiful now, and in her words is "finally able to have a good time "
    There's also the fact that she is a teenage girl. Speaking as a woman, as a teenager...physical beauty can mean everything when you're 16- 17.

    I saw the Charmed reviews and now this one, I love this channel ❤️
    I need a review about AHS Coven, Practical Magic, The Secret Circle... Any film or series about witches

    As a Wiccan witch who identifies with the element of earth I’ve never felt more connected to a character in a film except for maybe Coraline.

    I always thought the point of them becoming “evil” and going out of their kinder characteristics was because of the dark magic turning them into what they eventually became, though thats just what I always gathered from it.
    I think Nancy was always susceptible to overstepping into dark magic, and because she did and was the “leader”, it also affected Rochelle & Bonnie.
    Of course, because Sarah was born a powerful good witch, that same draw didn’t affect her the same way.
    Either way, I absolutely love this movie 😄
    Bonnie’s automatically my favorite- but only because I’m a HUGE Neve fan 😌

    I remember my Dad taking me to see this in Theatres. I wish Rachelle's (sp?) character was more developed as well (and most characters I've come across since watching films/shows). I loved this film so much I watched the sequel. Regrettably. If you (reader) haven't seen it yet - Don't watch it. You're not missing anything. It wasn't just mediocre, it was, so cringe and bad I wanted to puke the memory from my brain somehow.

    So wild how kids today look at the 90s and 2000s like how we use to look at the 60s and 70s

    • @BetterWithBob
      @BetterWithBob  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's the 20-30 year cycle of nostalgia. And in the 80s they were nostalgic for the 50s, hence Back to the Future, Stand By Me etc

  • @paranoiaddicted

    Sorry for my question, in 8:29 min you say that "Nancy is parallel with fire element"
    This confuses me, didn't she call the air element when she invoked the spirit?

    • @BetterWithBob
      @BetterWithBob  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes that's very odd that she does that in the film itself because on the DVD special features the filmmakers say they parallel her with fire. Rochelle is meant to be water, Bonnie air and Sarah earth. For some reason they have Nancy and Bonnie call the opposite elements in the film itself 🤔

    no the satanic panic just sourt of spilled while also deflating in the 90s, coupled with a library of movies in every town it meant that you'd still have a few witch trials in the form of fake pedo bs but also have giant chunks of the population thinking that stuff was silly because culture was only just moving in to the meta dialogue stage 1 12
