    It's a really cool setup. Something to add to the gaming part of the video, you could also stream PC games to it. From your own PC to a bigger screen (using Steam link, for example) or a streaming service (Xbox xCloud, Geforce Now, etc.). Not gonna replace your PC, but really cool stuff nonetheless and definitely has its use..

    You forgot one Important thing. There are made for dex apps. For example windows remote desktops works better with dex. If you use remote desktop with a keyboard on any other phone the windows key brings up the phones home screen instead of bringing up the windows search screen. Windows remote desktop makes dex into a full PC.

    Smart Things screen sharing and DeX doesn't work on my S22 Ultra or any of my older Samsung phones.
    I guess it is purposely done to force users to buy Samsung TVs.
    My TV's are Sony and LG.
    I did countless bug reports about it to Samsung support, but no any difference update after update.

    It's my computer for work (regular office work) and leisure since 2019. The best approach is to see it as a Chromebook.
    The benefits of convergence are amazing. Your work, your files, are always with you, even in the streets. In your pocket. Plugin a monitor, keyboard and mouse and your workstation is on. Great even for security reazons.
    With OneUI 5 / Android13 the experience ia better, more polished and a much better (and "desktopier") taskbar.

    • @SilvioBritto
      @SilvioBritto ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iAmPaulObelley I enjoyed since, doesn't change much in fact. Dex was released wirh the S8 / Note8 line. I personally started using with my (missed) Note 9. It's very stable (and fast) all the time.
      Since last year Motorola released a worthy competitor, it's called Ready For (didn't tested myself yet).

    • @neilvee4576
      @neilvee4576 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can it handle a lot of tabs on google chrome? May I ask you overall experience with it as your work computer? I'm also considering if I could skip buying a work laptop and just invest on this phone. Thanks

    • @SilvioBritto
      @SilvioBritto ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neilvee4576 yes, could be tabs or even new navigator windows, I think the windows limit is 20 at the same time, don't know what's the tab limit. I personally prefer to use Samsung Internet browser.
      About general use, you must analyze your case scenario, if you could live with the apps on your phone for the things you use your computer or if there's some specific program that only exists un Windows / Mac that you can't replace.
      For me works flawlessly. My use is browser (for the majority of things), TH-cam and Netflix for videos and Google Workspace for work (normal office work, administration related). Nowadays a vast number of stuff that used to demand the instalation of programs is in webapps / sites (as PDF editing, files converters erc). So it's 100% usable for me.
      The best way to approach DeX is seeing it as a sort of Chromebook (not the same, but very near).

    Hello
    If you have experience with Samsung Dex and touchscreens combo I want to ask for advices. I also appreciate answers from any viewer, in case the creator of this channel can't respond to my message.
    I'm interested in using Samsung Dex with a touchscreen monitor myself. Since I spend time in my home mostly and don't really need an additional battery. To not mske things longer, I have my eyes on two devices.
    1. Magedok OLED full HD 13,3. Has touchscreen and no battery. Very similar to Asus Zenscreen OLED 13,3 (you can find more reviews for the later here on TH-cam).
    2. Magedok IPS full HD 14'. Similar to above, just a little bigger and IPS instead of OLED technology. Had no battery as well.
    My phone is Samsung S20 FE. I tested Samsung Dex using another monitor (no touchscreen) and it works, but drains my battery very fast. So asking about BOTH monitors my questions are as follows:
    1. Does plugging the power source (to the monitor) stop phone battery drainage? Does it even slow it? I watched reviews, but all they say is that plugging the monitor I can just boost the brightness. So I'm worried it would still consume my phone's battery even when I plug monitor to separate energy source (even if it doesn't need it).
    2. If you aren't sure about the above. What would you recommend me to get additionally? Would buying an USB adapter solve it? I have hope that maybe an active (and not passive) adapter could help, being able to PD power deliver devices using it. Any experience with using it?
    3. Most importantly. Can an use touch screen from the MONITOR when connecting monitor to my phone? Does it transfer both signal (image) AND touch or just the image? I want to control my phone through the monitor (its touchscreen), so both signal and touch transfers are needed.
    4. If the above is true, how much control it gives. Can I use the monitor just like I used my phone? Meaning, could I play 3D android games and use controls just like on my phone? I play one game especially (Sky Children of the Light), it has two on screen 'sticks' (for moving the character and camera, with two thumbs). So I was wondering if using Samsung Dex I can play it normally just like with my phone - Or if it supports only clicking one area at the time (so I couldn't play normally with both thumbs and move the character/camera at the same time). You can even test the game itself if you got some time as it's free and without adds. I'm worried that it works just like a mouse even with touchscreen and offers zero support for multiple touch points pressed at the same time.
    For now this is all. Thank you.
    Best wishes, Jon

    • @iAmPaulObelley
      @iAmPaulObelley  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jon, I don’t believe TouchScreen monitors are compatible with Samsung Dex for now, so unless you can play the game you want with mouse and keyboard or with a controller, I say forget about it.
      As for charging and power drainage, you can always get a monitor like the one I use in the video which will charge your device as long as you’re using a USB-C connection and it has separate power. I’m not familiar with the specific monitors you mentioned so I can’t speak on those, but you can also use wireless charging as well.
      Hope this helps!

      @@iAmPaulObelley
      Thank you for the must needed knowledge.
      Luckily found some videos showing Samsung Dex on touchscreen monitor. Controlling the phone works. The fame issue is unresolved, as I'm not sure if multi-touch is supported (moving the character with one hand and the camera with another).
      Internet is a black hole when it comes to this issue as most play year using gamepads. I'm disabled and for me using touchscreen works the easiest unfortunately.
      Found this, but can't judge until I see a video:
      "I can confirm that DeX for PC only supports 1 touch point. DeX on an external monitor (USB-C DP connection) supports multitouch."
      Perhaps you have access to some touchscreen monitor and could check this?

      Use a USB C to HDMI adapter with power pass though and a few USB ports. I plug my monitor into the wall and the USBC and run Dex all day everyday.
