WOW1 I'm just blown away...so fabulous. I've NEVER seen a quilt anything like this. As I watched you put all these pieces together I kept thinking that's weird, that's weird, that's weird - and finally its all together and just awesome.
Dave! Another fabulous quilt. I love the idea of using your orphan blocks with 9 patches! I also love that you will add other fun elements like tee shirts and patches. I teach sewing and now share a list of my favorite youtubers, you are on it and I tell my students that you can quilt any way you want to! You can make it up as you go along, do your own thing and forget what people say is the "right way." You prove that in every video and make amazing art. I look forward to the next one. Thanks for being awesome!
The Return of the Sockeye is a Ray Troll shirt. He’s an Alaskan artist with a delightful sensibility, and I think he would love how you’re using the shirt ❤
When on a tight budget, my friend had to settle on an UGLY full-size sheet set for several years. After venting about how much she hated the pattern (1980s dusty pink with sunset peach florals ) I offered to swap my extra guest room sheet set (pale blue & white stripe). Years later I showed her the quilt I made using her sheets & pillow cases as 8 inch foundation squares. Every square was covered in strips of scrap fabric in a Courthouse Steps block pattern. We both shared a good laugh 😊
I love what you do with quilts. They are so practical yet creatively chaotic. I've put you in a box in my head with Susan Shie, Dali, Gaudi, and Warhol, but you keep escaping! You're more random. Love, love, love your quilts, your method, and your thought process. Thank you for sharing. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love this quilt! You are so imaginative/creative! Who doesn't love a pizza castle protected by a dragon!? I think that's my favorite block Well, the cats - I love cats! Well done!
Oh Dave, I had to put this video on a loop! The music was great but your technique is awesome also! I’m still wiping the tears from my eyes! Not sure if I’m laughing or crying at the creativity of this. I’m still stuck on the idea of the dragon cooking the 🍕 pizza! And then when I thought you were finished you turned around and added cute little items to adorn the nine patches! I struggle with appliqué and there you were turning circles one handed! Oh my can’t get enough of your quilting, especially when you finally mixed up the actual quilting of this magnificent quilt! You go you clever fellow ❤❤❤❤❤
I just got back into quilting when I retired. I am still such a pattern follower.. hoping to take inspo from your videos and be more spontaneous. Someday!! Thanks for making my Tuesday!
You make it all look so easy! Thank you for sharing this video. I am working on quilt now that I am having trouble trying to make it all work. Your nine patch between blocks is a great idea.
Congratulations. You have made another wonderful, original, quilted piece of ART. Your quilt is beautiful. It is also very interesting. I'm also a cancer, or moon child, born on July 17. I am hoping to get my Sew-Jo back, after I get over Lyme disease. The worst part of this has been the chills (during a heat wave).
That was quite the experience! I admit I didn't think you could pull all that random together into a harmonious whole you sure did. I love how you lay out all nine patches into the nine patch stacks for sewing prep.
I love scrap quilts because they bring together all sorts of different fabrics in a stunning mishmash. The imperfections in the quilt tell a story of creativity and resourcefulness while also capturing memories of different projects. Plus, you get to use up all those leftover scraps!
I think the blocks are super cool! Especially the space station! How clever with applique features too! I have bought so many quilt books over the years. I probably only needed that one. Take care, Dave! Marion in Oregon.
As usual, I love how your minds works. Oh, some plaid, a bear, and some aliens - MY FAVE block ! 😂. Because of You , I am finishing a lot of my own quilts, since January- almost finished my 4th quilt. 2 others ready to quilt - already sandwiched and pinned. THANK YOU for your energy and creative mind with no limits.
I just love your eye! When you were making the big nine patch blocks I thought it was weird to put the same small blocks crashing into each other. But your eye was right - as usual. Those crashing blocks look fantastic!!! I think this would be a quilt a kid would be in love with, so much to look at, I can imagine having a favourite secret part, one of the smaller patches for instance
I so admire you for being so fearless with just cutting things up and going for it. Meanwhile, I'm over here having anxiety about whether a block wasn't placed in the most visually optimal spot. You're inspiring me to fly loose a bit. Also, using patches on a quilt is such a great idea!
I get such a kick just seeing all your unique blocks...if ALL YOU DID WAS showed your stacks of blocks you'd have one of the most interesting and intriquing videos going.
❤ I love tha your scrap quilts ate so creative! Do not look like scrappy quilt at all. Vicarious sewing eat my heart out, no sewing room at the mo, new to watch you create, do love! 🎉
AGAIN !!! I’m in love with this quilt. Your artistic eye is amazing. I winced when your 9-patch 9-patches contained matching blocks. But OMG it’s perfect ! I wish I had your vision and even more your ambition. But by the Christmas I hope to take my scraps and make them into quilts for all my children. Especially my old jeans. I cut up 14 pairs of jeans into 400 circles. I hope to make a rugged camping quilt(s) from them. Wish me luck !
Return of the sockeye is a play in words obviously. If you look, you'll see sockeye salmon in the graphic. Salmon return to their spawning grounds when they are mature. They spawn and then expire. So that graphic is actually quite humorous.
Love it! You've done it again!!😊 I have a bunch of t-shirts I want to incorporate into a quilt. I think I'll use your scrappy nine patch block alternated with a t- shirt block! Thanks for the inspiration!!
LOVE IT as always! I’ve (mostly) stopped questioning your methods and just roll with it. 😅My bonus block bin is pretty full, I like how you added fabric so they’re all the same size. Great idea, great quilt-YAY Tuesday!❤👍🏻
This is my first video of yours and already I’m HOOKED! I love your humorous appliqués and fabric choices on those blocks! I am very new to quilting and only ever work with scrap/waste textiles and I love the silly, goofy, crazy, ugly weird stuff. So cool!
I'm enjoying your boldness in piecing 9 patch blocks and adding extra fabrics to orphans. I need to mimic this technique. Different quilting styles with machine, hand, yarn and buttons - oh my! ❤
Hi Dave, you are the best quilter I've seen, truly amazing! I would like to know what fabric you have on the design wall that makes the pieces stick so well
I am always amazed how you take random, sometimes ugly things, and make original, fabulous quilts. So creative! I love watching you in action.
I agree.
Also, Bonnie Hunter would say if a scrap of fabric was still ugly, you haven't cut it small enough...lol
I couldn't have said that better! I agree!
If the 1980's MTV had a quilt, this would be it! It's so fun and electric!!!
WOW1 I'm just blown away...so fabulous. I've NEVER seen a quilt anything like this. As I watched you put all these pieces together I kept thinking that's weird, that's weird, that's weird - and finally its all together and just awesome.

Love love love love love love
Absolutely wonderful! Your ability to make ‘random’ into a coherent whole is quite something. Love it!
I don’t know how many I’m going to make 🤔 5-10,000 😂
You are quite the visionary-the quilt is amazing ✂️🧵🪡
What a refreshing display your quilts would make at the Houston Quilt Festival. Can picture the crowd interest already. Love your work.

Scrappiness is happiness

So cool
You had me at the pizza dragon!! ❤
Cool like the sockeye salmon t shirt, they r a common fish in Canada sockeye salmon. Love it
Scrap-a-licious master.
The only way to cook pizza - dragon breath! Luvvit!
I love this quilt! You are so imaginative/creative! Who doesn't love a pizza castle protected by a dragon!? I think that's my favorite block Well, the cats - I love cats! Well done!

Tuesday is my first in office day. Your videos always make up for having to put on real clothes instead of working in my pj’s. Thank you!!
I enjoyed the 80s style soundtrack 😎
I just got back into quilting when I retired. I am still such a pattern follower.. hoping to take inspo from your videos and be more spontaneous. Someday!! Thanks for making my Tuesday!
Dave, I just love how the alien and horse fabric keep showing up in your quilts. I love this quilt. Excellent!!
You make it all look so easy! Thank you for sharing this video. I am working on quilt now that I am having trouble trying to make it all work. Your nine patch between blocks is a great idea.
Outstanding!! What a GREAT Quilt! You are an extraordinary artist.

Return of the Sockeye is from the artist, Ray Troll at Soho Coho in Ketchikan, he retired last winter.
thank you !! 😜👨🏻
Hello. Dave, I so enjoy your channel. The quilts are all amazing, including the amazing scrapopolis. Your creativity is wonderful to watch.
Thick tome!!😂
Dave you are so funny. 😂. I love you !
Love it!!! From a fellow Cancer from PA😊
You just sewed that circular patch on with one hand! Ooh the dexterity!
[Chef's kiss]
I am in awe
Watching this video now and want to say that it made me smile. You are one of The Most Creative People I’ve Ever seen!!!!!! Love it!!!!❤
You always entertain! And that's another one of a kind gallery piece from Dave!
Pizzacastle - what a great Idea! The dragon reminds me to my son...😂😂
I love how so many random pieces can become such a gorgeous & interesting quilt.
This is one of my favorites of all the quilts I have watched you make. Thanks for sharing.
That was quite the experience! I admit I didn't think you could pull all that random together into a harmonious whole you sure did. I love how you lay out all nine patches into the nine patch stacks for sewing prep.
Genius time saver

Super fun! Thank you.
Sew creative, Dave, love your quilts!
Dave, Dave you’re back! So glad you are back!!!
Usually every 2nd Tuesday
I think the blocks are super cool! Especially the space station! How clever with applique features too! I have bought so many quilt books over the years. I probably only needed that one. Take care, Dave! Marion in Oregon.
I ,love, love ,love, this quilt. I was holding my breath for the magic of how to make nine patches.
Another amAZING collection of cloth !!! No stress. NO thinking. Just sew!!! Can't beat that. And it turns out gorgeous. ))))
It’s fun to watch you do your thing!
As usual, I love how your minds works. Oh, some plaid, a bear, and some aliens - MY FAVE block ! 😂. You "surely did" do a great job! And you made sure to give me the POP! This gave me ideas for a scrap quilt. Thanks!
You have just brought scrap quilts to another level. Love the colours and so much to look at. Thanks again for another great video. Desley🇦🇺
You are the chaos master !
I get such a kick just seeing all your unique blocks...if ALL YOU DID WAS showed your stacks of blocks you'd have one of the most interesting and intriquing videos going.

Hit another homerun❤

Love the effect of the 9 patches!
Love it! You've done it again!!😊 I have a bunch of t-shirts I want to incorporate into a quilt. I think I'll use your scrappy nine patch block alternated with a t- shirt block! Thanks for the inspiration!!
I love how those 9s make the big blocks flow together! you can even see occasional pixel flowers there 🌸
I love scrappy quilts. I just used all my mom's orphaned blocks to make quilts for my siblings.
Love your unconventional way of patterns and colors. I really like the retro tv quilt in the back ground.
LOVE IT as always! I’ve (mostly) stopped questioning your methods and just roll with it. 😅My bonus block bin is pretty full, I like how you added fabric so they’re all the same size. Great idea, great quilt-YAY Tuesday!❤👍🏻
This is my favorite quilt of all times! 😍
Very eclectic. I love your fearlessness in putting anything and everything together!
I would be so peeved if after doing all the blocks I had to resize them all - pleased you dealt with that and got the project complete
Damn you’re fast!!!
I’m obsessed! I want to add patches to all my quilts now. Thanks for sharing your work😘
Oh my, I literally just did a scrsp quilt like this. My husband has been sick so Ive been putting a set of batik swap blocks with 16 patches.
I am always impressed and inspired when I watch your channel. Love your quilt😊
The orange and lime green in the 9-patches really make the quilt. It would be boring without those 9-patches.
I couldn't wait for today's video and I was not disappointed! That quilt is spectacular! Thanks!
I love the way you work because I work the same way. As random is the best way to for me to work.
This is my first video of yours and already I’m HOOKED! I love your humorous appliqués and fabric choices on those blocks! I am very new to quilting and only ever work with scrap/waste textiles and I love the silly, goofy, crazy, ugly weird stuff. So cool!
one of my fave quilts youve done so far!!!! absolutely stunning and so colorful 🤩
I always love your freedom in putting wired colors and blocks together and it works. Bravo!!!
Awesome quilt❤️
Looking over to my bins of scraps and going to start making some nine patches….❤️
I'm enjoying your boldness in piecing 9 patch blocks and adding extra fabrics to orphans. I need to mimic this technique. Different quilting styles with machine, hand, yarn and buttons - oh my! ❤
😺
You are such an incredible artist! Thanks for sharing your creative process. More is more and you are such an inspiration! Blessings to you!
Hi Dave, you are the best quilter I've seen, truly amazing! I would like to know what fabric you have on the design wall that makes the pieces stick so well
It’s batting stuck to foam boards mounted on the wall with command strips👍🏻
In bag making, turning the bag right side out is legitimately called "birthing the bag" so yeah, you birthed the quilt. Congratulations quilt daddy 😂
I love watching your tutorials and I'm amazed at your creativity 😅 thanks 😅
Looks beautiful!
So chaotic and so fun! Thanks Dave!
Love your masterpiece! So daring and creative. Thanks Dave!!
Another amazing masterpiece! I love all the textures. Brilliant as always! ❤️❤️❤️

Wow, you never cease to amaze with your creativity Dave. Love this quilt!
Another fabulous creation!❤
Just incredible. I love it and scrap quilts are not my favorite. You made me a believer. Nice job!
Someday I will make a Louis 14 with interspersed appliqué. You inspire me. 🙌🏼
What's a Louis 14 ? 😜
It’s St. Louis 16’s brother!!!🤣you know, the traditional 4x4 patchwork…. I am lousy with math…….
Superschön, ich habe noch nie einen so tollen scapquilt gesehen. Du bist ein Künstler. Danke für das Video 🍀
Danke! es freut mich, dass es dir gefällt 😜👨🏻
Fabulous! One of my favourites 🔥😍
Absolutely fabulous scrap quilt. Thank you for the video 😊
