They say it's for saving time, but it's quicker to just make it yourself anyway Edit: They're also used in professional kitchens as they provide consistent results. Gordon Ramsey has tons of experience cuisine and has done "great escapes" to India and Thailand. Using your anology, it wouldn't be going from a kickboxing style to a wrestling style of fighting but more going from a mma to wrestling.
I appreciate his humility. Understanding that he doesn't have to win every cooking title and his appreciation of the craft. That's what makes this an enjoyable video.
The cool thing about this video is that Gordon actually looked so pleased that he got second place. And he was so generous and humble with the other contestants, despite being a world-renowned chef.

He's confident when he's within his sphere, and very humble when he knows he's out of his depth, but always willing to take on the challenge. And I love how gracious and proud he was to take second place. That's just awesome and makes me like him even more.

Well these are difficult cuisines. For a westerner, 2nd place is pretty decent even for Gordon Ramsey. I mean he still chucks entire star anises directly into the basting juices....so yeah. pretty decent.

Edit: They're also used in professional kitchens as they provide consistent results. Still, not a kitchen necessity imo, rice is easy to cook.

Gordon is a world class chef but he handled second place with class. There's nothing wrong with that. He learned something and added to his already enormous repertoire with a cuisine that he is unfamiliar with. Classy. And that's got to feel good for that woman who got first place, beating beating Gordon Ramsay she can flex with that accomplishment for the rest of her life.

I love this! This is why Gordon is one of the best-he's always willing to learn. He's confident when he's within his sphere, and very humble when he knows he's out of his depth, but always willing to take on the challenge. And I love how gracious and proud he was to take second place. That's just awesome and makes me like him even more.

despite his last competition being for the national chef of the year, he is so genuinely happy to come 2nd in a local cooking competition not even in his home country. this is why Gordon is one of my favorite celebrities.
