Sooo Thai. As a Thai living in Thailand, I can absolutely predict the outcome of the competition. There can be no other verdict but a tie. Thai people will never insult a big time foreign chef, nor will they insult Thailand's own big time chef who is a cousin of the present royal family. It's so Thai to let everybody save face. Very diplomatic. Why would they set up the episode as a competition anyway, in stead of an exchange between two experienced chefs. Everyone knows it takes years of familiarity with the taste of a particular group of people, before you can master the art of cooking their cuisine. What tastes good is not a universal, a priori knowledge, it's a convention among members of a culture. You don't know what a good Thai food is, unless you are so familiar with the taste of the people. The taste of Thai cuisine is particular to the Thai people (what they happen to think tastes good), also the verdict of this competition is very particular to the Thai culture, where competition is not as important as grace, manners, and saving faces.
As an American living in America, I had the same conclusion. They would not insult McDang or Gordon by saying one is better than the other. McDang is their best on his own show and Gordon is an internationally famed guest.
I wished they could be honest though. Gordon is a great chef but as you said, he can’t instantly become amazing. Especially with the curry (which he himself said he burnt a little) being the aspect he was declared better in. I’d hope gordon could take it well if he lost. It doesn’t make him bad, just that McDang is more experienced and better in Thai cooking, naturally.
Gordon is one of the few people who have reached his level of passion for what he loves to do. Not everyone who studies a trade is in love with what they went to school for.

Talk about how UNFAIR that competition is. The dude has a team of chefs doing his chores and has everything given to him on a silver plate, while gordon has to do everything himself and has the disadvantages like.... not his home ground, the judges are the opponent's family, opponent knows all the shortcuts of these local dishes. and on and on............. Being the king of the western kitchen, he carefully approaches something foreign and easily becomes the student.
Thank you 🙏🏼 for coming to Thailand 🇹🇭.
👍👍👍👍
I’d love to go there.....

What a happy ending.

Who's from Thailand?
If there is, then what can a romantic couple do over there for 5 to 7 days?
Are there any cheap hotels over there?
In advance, thanks for your input.
Lol I'm thai in the first place and here we eat pad thai on the side of the streets
Clearly Gordon won in my eyes. When I first saw him on TV I thought he was a cocky a*******. But after watching his TH-cam videos is a very humble guy that wants to continue to learn and please people through his food
Aha you tasted the food and you know clearly. I bet you will become the greatest food critique.
@@Kaera.comiishs 🤣🤣
Gordon is on his best behaviour as he is not in his own kitchen. No matter here he goes, he will always be cocky and rude.
He's not a Cocky Arsehole, he's just Scottish. Its a cultural thing. Very aggressive, very confrontational and very direct/honest. No bullshit, not fat, what you see is what you get.
People like it, people behind camera asked for more of it, but in actuality he just over does it for the show, hes only like that when its called for one would imagine.
The UK versions of his shows portray him in a far more tame light
Talk about how UNFAIR that competition is. The dude has a team of chefs doing his chores and has everything given to him on a silver plate, while gordon has to do everything himself and has the disadvantages like.... not his home ground, the judges are the opponent's family, opponent knows all the shortcuts of these local dishes. and on and on.............
P.S- media, memes and articles tell you that Gordon Ramsay is lethal, rude, cutthroat and cocky. But through TH-cam, i found that he more humbling than many many chefs of many nations. Instead of the obvious clickbaits that say "gordon ramsay insults ....." try looking at him cook.
7:11 that random child at the right standing in "ATTENTION " position. funny 😃😃
That awkward moment when a Thai chef dip his finger on Gordon's dish.
A little voice Inside of Gordon's mind: DISGUSTING.

Yeah man, Gordon's cooking is bland shit
Gordon was about to dip him in the water
Judges and TV be like "yeah let's make it a draw so everyone's favourite chef isn't compromised."
Ikr
That critic isn't going to lose face by his son losing
@@Tae_B831 Then he could let him simple win?
To be honest, I think it's possibile that this Jury was one of the most honest Jurys we've seen in this context.
Yeah I think that Gordon actually thought it was a cooking competition... then the army of chefs went to help mcdang so he wouldn't even have to do anything besides put the food on the plate.
Honestlt, McDang is a mood. Seeing him with Gordon is such a mood. LOL

"In all my years of cooking, research, cuisine, it was never personal. But I'll tell you now, what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little chef... I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much"
How to cook well in Thailand:
-chili.
-add a shit ton of something sour or salty
-some more chili
-throw in some veggies
-stir fry it or something, I don't know
-pour some more chili in
-some meat
-something else spicy
-some more of that fish sauce
-plate it
-more chili on the side
-C H I L I
-enjoy
This is way too accurate.. especially the chilli part🤣
That was sadly accurate
If you talk again bad again about thai food i'll find you
Scenario where McDang wins the competition:
Gordon: "Seriously? Aww come on!"
McDang: *I am inevitable*
No, I am McDang.
And I ... Am...ramsay... Snap
Hashir it and I am NINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
1:10 "Gordon like competition, hes so cocky and I'm really cocky too" best line
That McDang is funny
You can see who the real chef. I'm Thai but proud of chef Gordon.
It’s tv. Dude could do it all if he wanted, but that’s not good tv. The team vs the lone wolf helps build suspense 😜
gordon respects food, and puts his heart into it every time. mcdong seems to only like money.
@@peanutbutterrobot you can’t just make an assumption of someone just by looking a video of 8 m which is easily a 6+ years old video also both of them followed the script

MCDANG U CUTE.
5:17 I like how Ramsay is usually the famous celebrity chef with the cars, the big openings, the restaurants in the big cities, rewards in HK challenges… but here, it’s the *other* guy who’s the celebrity with the huge staff.
Gordon looks so nervous here lol.
Who wouldn't be
The hell?? a whole team of army and premade dishes?
Hes doing nothing, just joking and messing with Gordon the whole time.
looks like the army was only for cleaning and the only thing "pre-made" is the paste
He is a celebrity cook for a reason
@@drag_611 they’re acting like it’s a whole Olympic or smth 😂

I love Thai food. I am hmong, so we basically grew up with Thai and laotion food. I can tell you we appreciate cooking from scratch a hell of a lot more. Its okay to cut corners and have pre made sauce and spices, but the thing is you can't control what was put in there. Cooking from scratch let's you control everything
By the way, considering you are Hmong, your English is pretty good.
Next Episode: Gordon Ramsay Takes on Bikini Bottom's Chef Eugene H. Krabs Krabby Patties | Gordon's Great Escape

Love Gordon's passion for cooking, you can always tell he's so eager to learn, eager to see new challenges. My absolute fav chef ever.
same tbh
That is most definitely true. Gordan Ramsay is quite passionate about what he loves. He loves cooking.
มีคลิปนึงกอดอนเค้าทำอาหารถวายพระไทยเค้าไม่ถือตัวมีความเป็นกันเองมากๆๆๆชอบคนแบบนี้คับ
Mr.Jeeraphan Sutthinan hhhhuuuuhhhhh
For those who need a translation.
"I think Gordon Ramsey is a great and down to earth guy. Whenever he thinks something is good, he says it's good. When it's bad, he's honest. Many people say that he puts too much aggression and emotion when it comes to cooking but I reckon it's because he loves and respects the culinary arts so much. And when he sees people cook with quality ingredients just to waste them, he doesn't just let it pass. For that, I give my respects to the chef."
Ur welcome (Google translate sucks :p)
Mcdang is prolly the only guy who ever dares to put a finger in Gordon’s dish while he’s cooking xD
And Gordon is only one who dares to put his hand on MC Dang’s head and touching his hair. We don’t really do that in Thailand.
@@raes1989 haha true it's sure rare in Asia it's usually happened between the elder to kid and teenager boy to his close friend so for the age of Gordon to McDang surely...mischievous 😂

"I don't do a thing, I just cook" tbh he doesn't even do that, he had his staff cook all the premade food for him.
เหมือนเชฟกอร์ดอนเขาจะมีความสุขกับการได้ทำอาหารไทยนะ เขาคงรู้สึกว่าเป็นประสบการณ์ที่แปลกใหม่

OK, the way that Chef Gordon "wai's" (Thai style greeting with two hands coming together) is the most heart-warming gesture I've ever seen! Thank you Chef Gordon for embracing Thai culture.
McDang, muk means ink, and dang means red, so in Thai, MukDang means red ink.
Tbh, I came to know MukDang from Chef Gordon, and I'm a Thai. 🤣
Chef Gordon, you're the BEST!
I love the energy of these two chefs together.

Thai food is fantastic :)
3:06 - Gordon wasn't playing...he was checking to see if there was Lamb Sauce hidden in McDang's hair
I've lived in Thailand for years and this summarises it nicely. If you've come from money, you never have to lift a finger. Helpers, cleaners and managers supporting you on all fronts. Meanwhile Gordon is making paste from scratch. The real hero here is Gordon.
McDang: I don't think Gordon's nervous!
Gordon: left foot... right foot... left foot... right foot
It's not a movie, it's TV program 😂
Love this series - the willingness to learn is seeping through him and it shows :)
Thais have a charm energy and guile that makes them unique in this world. They are genuinely gregarious. It's difficult not to fall in love the with the place and its people.
