Damn those where some nice fish. That view was nothing to sneeze at either. Keep them coming you do a killer job of putting them together. Peace and be safe out there. 🖒✌🖖
I really wish you would have made it up to my home state of Alaska on your west coast adventure! The lakers and burbot up there would have blown those out of the water, no pun intended! I hope some day you can make it up there to experience all Alaska has to offer. I loved this series!
Have watched your West Coast adventure from the beginning. I am thrilled that you were able to have the amazing experiences that you had in the part of the country I call home. If you ever get back out this way and want to try for Salmon or Steelhead again. The rivers and ocean around Humboldt County, Ca area prime fishing areas. I look forward to watching your next adventures. Tight lines. And thank you.
+Butler Fishing 707 salmon and steelhead eluded me this trip. Definitely want to come back for them. Thanks for the tip, maybe you can help me get on em when I come back!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. Hopefully it won't be the last time your out on the west coast! Also, those are killer trout dude. I agree those are the biggest trout I've ever seen! Cheers!
Beautiful lake and some beautiful fish! Another great video! Definitely going to get up to lake Cle Elum in the future. Now I am for sure saving up for a kayak looks like so much fun. Keep up the great videos man!
I was just introduced to your channel, and it's amazing! I don't fish at all, and I have tried before. All I was able to catch was a tiny tiny bass. I enjoy watching your channel a lot!
+aFishInATree -Appletree of Timberclan- thanks man, glad you're enjoying the vids! Fishing is a lot of fun but it definitely takes practice to get decent. I'm still a rookie really
Spring and Fall are best of course but our local lakes are Pueblo, Spinney Mountain, 11 Mile, Catamounts and we have trophy rainbows, trophy pike, kokanee salmon, lake trout, bass, wipers, walleye, crappie, catfish. When it comes to Rainbows you only need a single lure, Tasmanian Devil (Canberra Killer in color) troll it about 1.5 - 2.5 and you'll catch bows all day long. Btw. I got into Kayak Fishing last year based largely in part because of your videos. Keep up the good work!
What's next? Maybe you've answered this already, I'm to lazy to read back in the comments sorry. I'll admit your "beginners luck" is something I'm envious of. I've been on a couple of epic trips in my lifetime of fishing (20 years) and you pulled a bases loaded grand slam making this series. Insert Wisers Slow Clap here lol. Google it. Great series, I've watch the ocean ones a couple times over taking notes btw. And the sturgeon because I still can't believe it! Wicked.
+Denver Deschenes so stoked you enjoyed the series man, thanks for watching it! Some episodes from here or there will continue to air weekly through the end of the year. Tonight is another Panama episode, next week Florida, and the 2 weeks after that a new series that'll start off 60 miles off the coast of California. I'll be making a big announcement around the end of the year about what's next. Big changes for 2018. Exciting stuff!
Beautifully edited and super intriguing content. I watched all the series in one night. I saw you went to Panama to fish as well - you should come down to Costa Rica some time and we can go deep sea fishing too! Mad props for the videos once again. Peace.
+Cameron Stokes glad you enjoyed the series Cameron! I've fished in Destin once and I live in southwest Florida now. I'll be making my way to the panhandle before long.
+Matteo R more videos will keep coming out, and I'll be making announcement about the future of Field Trips towards the end of the year! It's gonna be big.
+KFS 486 I was asked not to show the lures we were using out of respect for the guy that came up with the technique on that lake. I filmed a rundown of everything while we were out there, but I gotta respect the guides' wishes. Basically just dropping soft plastics to the bottom and bouncing em up and down. Pretty simple setup
Just looked up the regs for the lake, WDFW encourages anglers to harvest all these non-native trout species in order to benefit juvenile sockeye salmon. Dang, I gotta get there someday!
Yep. Brook trout, lake trout, dolly varden and arctic char are all in fact char. Mackinaw is just a regional name for lakers as far as I know. All fun to catch and great table fare. There are a few road accessible lakes here in Alaska that have huge lakers, I hope to fish them through the ice this winter.
+Jeremiah Erickson good info man. I feel like these Mackinaws look different than other lake trout I've seen, but I've never caught "the other kind" so maybe they are the same. I definitely want to do an Alaskan tour at some point
It's crazy how many different color patterns trout and char (and most fish) species display. Water clarity, structure they're oriented on, what they've been eating and if they're in spawn mode are all contributing factors. Come on up, great group of yak fisher folk up here. Most are members of the Northwest Kayak Anglers forum.
The tribes have been trying to gill net the mackinaw out of there for years. It's such a deep lake that it's unlikely they will get all of them. It has decreased the average size of fish in the lake. Frankly, I'd rather catch mackinaw than kokanee. Having seen them pull their gill nets, I've seen more sockeye and burbot in their nets than I have mackinaw. Long live the mackinaw. :)
Great video! Finally got to finish the whole thing, I started it several times but got distracted each time. Anyways keep it up #RobertField #yakfishtv
Sorry, this is Tamara using my husband Richard's account ;). Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate that you respond to my comments! Gosh, your videos are great! We really look forward to your new episodes !
Outstanding catchin' on this trip! Still trying to figure out how once you caught that last biggun, and holding it with two hands, you managed to switch ballcaps. :) Keep the vids coming!
+Greg Jackson sometimes I take off the ActionHat and put on a regular hat for photo ops so there's not a big GoPro on my head for pictures. Thanks man!
Hello Robert. You driving me insane with all these awesome videos. I’m in the Thousand Oaks area for the next couple months and want to do some fishing. Was hoping you could give me some advice for California? Salt water and freshwater? Thanks. Keep up the good work! By the way, I took your advice and got my kayak set up for ocean fishing. Lots of fun
Are the Mackinac Lake Trout not good table fair? The trout name sounds like it would be but then when you see it, it looks more like a pike / muskee style fish.
Robert Field I watched this video. It was a motherboard skiff/ kayak trip and episode 2 interested me. It was at Chester’s Rock on the Pacific side near Punta Eugenia. Google earth shows dirt road access from Bahia Tortugas around the point to Chester’sRock. Big calico bass and monster yellowtail to over #40. th-cam.com/video/_r_qKX_7080/w-d-xo.html Bet no one has kayak fished the area.
If you haven't caught black crappie before then I could hook you up on the right lake, but I couldn't go out because I'm thirteen. But I could get in the right area with the right gear. Maybe I might be able to get one of my mom's friends to take you out, but I don't know if he has a kayak.
+Billy Boy I've caught a few black crappie in Texas, but they're a lot of fun. Why do you say you couldn't go out because you're 13? You should look on my channel for a video with Kiera Landers in the title. She's an 11 year old girl that won a kayak bass fishing tournament!
In Oregon you have to have a boating license to use a kayak, and if I can't see the bottom I get extremely paranoid. Along with that My family is too poor to buy a kayak. All I've got is a float tube, not the type you're thinking of, look it up. Btw, If I'm typing too long of comments I'm sorry.
+Billy Boy yep I know exactly what a float tube is. I've seen some big fish landed from them. I could be wrong but I don't think you need a boating license to kayak in Oregon or any state for that matter. Look it up but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. You can get a decent used kayak for a couple hundred bucks. Start saving up and sell the float tube to cover the difference. A kayak will get you up out of the water, money for when it's cold.
If it's over ten feet long the I need a permit, but I can't sell my float tube because it came from family members that bought this one the day the first ever one went into stock. Have you ever caught a brown of brook trout, though?
Looks like an awesome time. However it was difficult watching you holding that fish out of the water the entire time you were gabbing about what a wonderful creature it was. I understand you were excited I understand that fish are awesome to look at but I also understand the fish are basically suffocating when they're out of the water. Yes she had a nice belly yes nice breeder yes nice big female yes take your picture, yes get her back in the water please thank you
incredibly underrated part of the country, beautiful

+Tim Ward thanks for the kind words Tim, I’m glad you enjoyed the series!
That is an insane lake trout
+Nicholas Charles yeah man! They're inappropriately named, as they're actually a type of char, not a trout. Beautiful, strong fish either way!
Damn those where some nice fish. That view was nothing to sneeze at either. Keep them coming you do a killer job of putting them together. Peace and be safe out there. 🖒✌🖖
+Coop W yeah man this place was a real hidden gem. Thanks man!

+Jeff Stone it’s such an incredible lake and definitely a hidden gem. I hope to go back one day.
you make some quality stuff. Keep it up, you're livin the life
Thanks brother
You knocked it out of the park on this series. Great vision and editing. I never knew half those fish even existed. All around thumbs up.
+Kenny Newell thanks Kenny! I didn't know half of them existed either haha
Super Incredible Fishing ! Love this !
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I really wish you would have made it up to my home state of Alaska on your west coast adventure! The lakers and burbot up there would have blown those out of the water, no pun intended! I hope some day you can make it up there to experience all Alaska has to offer. I loved this series!

Insane 4 sure , great show .

That was incredible! I think that lake might get a bit busier for awhile.
+Rob Fowler haha the guys were worried about that
I'm excited to go fish this lake. I've got a spot just 2 minutes from the beach.
Would you all mind sharing what type of lures you are using?
I was just introduced to your channel, and it's amazing! I don't fish at all, and I have tried before. All I was able to catch was a tiny tiny bass. I enjoy watching your channel a lot!

Damn, one of your best videos, and best day's fishing. You need to get on out here to Colorado Springs for some great fishing.
Thanks man! What's good to fish for in Colorado Springs, and what time of year?
Spring and Fall are best of course but our local lakes are Pueblo, Spinney Mountain, 11 Mile, Catamounts and we have trophy rainbows, trophy pike, kokanee salmon, lake trout, bass, wipers, walleye, crappie, catfish. +Scott Brownson unfortunately didn't get to fish the sound, but I will definitely be back
We fish downrigger setups here but still haven't used jigs. What's the head size you use? What are your pole specs?
I believe they were 1.5 ounce but I honestly don’t remember this was 6 or 7 years ago
Awesome catch man, I’m glad that last one didn’t come off, lol.
Your channel deserves more views

Where I'm from we get em bigger lake trout in the summer. My home town says it all "Big Trout Lake, Ontario".
Cool video man! Very lucky ;)
Thanks man! I️t was a day to remember for sure.

My pleasure
what were you using for tackle?
Great video! Finally got to finish the whole thing, I started it several times but got distracted each time. Anyways keep it up #RobertField #yakfishtv
+Brandon Hill thanks Brandon, glad you enjoyed it!
Lol you need a bigger net too ,,you know fishing you never know what you will get ..LB lol haha 😄👍🎣
@Robert Field mind if I ask what you were fishing with? bait? lures?
Gorgeous ! One of my favorite quotes too. Oh, I am a vegan & love fishing ;). I know , it is complicated ;). But, not all vegans are crazy ;).
Haha I don’t think any vegans are crazy. Some are just a bit pushy with their way of life. Thanks for watching Richard!
Sorry, this is Tamara using my husband Richard's account ;). Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate that you respond to my comments! Gosh, your videos are great! We really look forward to your new episodes !

+Bobby Ortiz it's a custom built by a guy named Mark Crouse
I signed up for Deep Blue kayak fishing for the summer of July 23-27 the junior camp
+SFL Fishing - Fresh and Salt Water nice! Maybe I can be there for it. I've been wanting to film one of their junior camps
Oh OK cool! Would be great if you could be there
Great to see Brad bringing it in 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 this is the same Brad that Capsized ?
+Collie Yak nope that was Scott Northup. Brad was in episode 11 with the cutthroats and VLOG 11 where we cooked up the fish heads
Ah righto, cheers, still good to see him catch a fish 👍

Yes, Washington is awesome isn't it? :)
+pzat65 it really is! This was my first time visiting the state, but definitely won't be my last
Robert Field come back soon! The west side and North Idaho have some amazing fisheries too.
Visiting some pretty places geez! I'd hate to see the bill for all those out of state fishing licenses!
Just finished watching... this is like the craziest day of kayak fishing ever. So awesome.
+Robert Jones haha duuude they add up quick!
Looks like an awesome time. However it was difficult watching you holding that fish out of the water the entire time you were gabbing about what a wonderful creature it was. I hear you, I'll try to get them back in the water quicker in the future.
What fishing gear did you use?
+David Curlango soft plastics dropped all the way to the bottom and jigged up and down
