@@scotlandunplugged I think your stories are fascinating. Im a hillbilly from West Virginia with ancestors from Scotland but the accent is much different than mine. Please keep up the great work.
This a great video Robert!! 👏Thanks so much for all historical information. So interesting! We loved the 1961 movie version of Greyfriars Bobby so it is exciting to see the area as you walk through! 😊 Kim & Brent 🇺🇲
Thank you for the tour & trivia! Very interesting. I'd heard of Greyfriars before, but nothing detailed. Even being a fan of Harry Potter, I had no idea that some characters were based on real people.
Loads of great nights up in that area, as a student and at Sandy Bells. I must make another visit across the Forth. I wonder if the Hari Krishna centre is still around there. Another superb video. Thank you.
Thank you. I’ve had a few good nights up there myself! Not sure about the Hari Krishna centre still being there. I’ve never seen anyone, but I suppose it’s the busiest area in town 🙂
I volunteer doing grave stone conservation here in my hometown. Greyfriars could surely use our services. Might take us a year or 10 though 😮. Very interesting history there. Thank you Bard for telling part of its story.
Nooooooo - I saw the Disney film of Greyfriars Bobby when I was really small and apparently I sobbed for days. More than 40 years later, I still can’t think of it without tearing up! 😢😢 Edinburgh has such an amazing history - I’m a big fan of Ian Rankin’s Rebus books and would love to visit the city one day. In the mean time, your channel is one of those rare gifts on TH-cam that is an absolute gift to armchair travellers like me - thanks so much!
I love Greyfriars on a nice overcast day. My other favorite is down the other end of the royal mile. The cemetery where Adam Smith is buried. It has some interesting people in there. First place my wife and I ever stayed in Edinburgh was across the street through Bakehouse Close.
I did one of the famous Edinburgh Ghost Walks a few years ago now. Whilst it was very tongue in cheek and quite interesting to listen to the stories, including that of the grave robbers and Greyfriars Bobby, I did actually see a bonafide ghost at the end of the gated area (I believe this to be the oldest part of the cemetery). A white misty figure ran along the wall and vanished! I have no logical explanation for it and although there was a bit of trickery on the part of the tour guides, this was definitely not part of their 'act'. Nobody else seemed to notice it and it was quite far from where we were standing for it to be fake. I did try to debunk it, without success!
Greyfriars...Greystoke? This is so freaking cool! And the walks are handi-capped accessible. Sweet. I didn't know that about the Harry Potter names. The methods taken to protect bodies from the Ressurectionists make me laugh since I am donating all of my organs when I die and then what is left will be donated to a place that uses corpses to train rescue dogs.
As you stood there in front of it , I was thinking..”Dont stand there too long”!. Then you said you wouldn’t want to hang about! But did you get a creepy vibe being there at all?😊
Ok first i have to admit i am highly skeptical by person, i hear so many stories about places being haunted think about the conjuring house or the Ram in, at the end of the line all of these places are debunked. So why would this place be any different? I know i would walk there like there is nothing going on, i would have a word with this "poltergeist Mckenzie" fellow wilst building a party tent in front of the black mausoleum and having a good time, heck i would take my sleeping gear and crash inside that place. Recording? Absolutely! Shane madej style from Watcher TV. Because this place is just like any other place, spooky? Sure because of the ambiance but nothing more then that.
Fascinating, love your videos!
Thank you!
YES! YES! The dark stuff… I want THE DARK STUFF!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
As a history buff I find this stuff fascinating! Great Video👍👍
Thank you. I love the dark stuff too 😂
The Hoof GP told me about your channel
Omg I love your stories! Thank you!

Thank you! I love that skeleton. Doesn’t look up to carrying the book though 😂

Thank you! I can vaguely remember seeing the film years ago but can’t remember much about it. One for a rainy afternoon with the kids 🙂
Always been interested in the Paranormal. What an interesting story and so well presented. ❤ Keep up the GREAT job!!!
Thank you, Linda! I do love a ghost story 😂

Yeah, a lot of the headstone plaques have fallen off and some were fenced off for safety. Interesting place. Crazy how busy it is! 🙂
@@scotlandunplugged some day I will make it to Scotland, someday.

Regular stuff is great, but the dark stuff is really cool bc, well...people get into so much trouble!😂 Thank you for all the great history!😊
Thanks, I love cemeteries!

I love visiting cemeteries and this one looks worth a visit.

Everyone should share these videos. People don't know what they're missing!!!!
Haha. Thank you. I need to work in those thumbnails and titles 🙂
Your video is awesome, you have a new subscriber, got love this accent
Yesss let’s goooo!!!
I soooo love these stories👍👍👍❤️
My husband is from Edinburgh and we went there once! But he wouldn't let me go in!
Thought that tomb was eerie!
I love how you tell a story.
Thank you! 🙂

Oh this one was exceptional! I honestly need to visit ❤
There's a lot going on in there :-)
I just viewed this video. Oh my gosh! It was fantastic!! Creepy as hell lol.....
This place is the only place to give me a feeling of dread. Outside the hospital basement i used to work in (cleaning). Im not from scotland.
There’s definitely something about it! 😅
Nice video, but it would have been great to include the many literary connections to the kirkyard (aside from Potter).
So glad I didn’t know all that when I was walking around that graveyard! 😵💫
😂 There’s a lot going on in there!
Bob your awesome
Haha. I’ll take that! 😂
As you stood there in front of it , I was thinking..”Dont stand there too long”!. Then you said you wouldn’t want to hang about! But did you get a creepy vibe being there at all?😊
I had a French woman take me on a first (and last) date to Greyfriar’s Kirkyard… At night
I guess I will have to come to to Edinburgh to visit that graveyard
My advice to all visitors to Greyfriars Kyrkgarden: "Don't mess with the spiritual forces stationed in there!"
I appreciate your feedback my friend! Great honours for the people of Scotland! The people of the high lands!
Love ur accent
The Hoof GP sent me. You owe him now. bwahahahaha

Who is here after watching Mr Ballen?
I noticed that video too! 😂
Animals are not buried in human cemetery also , Bobby is not buried there
Aye, he is at the entrance. He was not allowed to be buried with his master.
Unfortunate rhyming slang?
