How can you feel bad for oliver? It was just generic anime trope. The first guy that helps you goes insane and oh no, i am supposed to cut down the guy i knew for 10 minutes, which i feel zero connection to, whatsoever. I slaughtered that dude down and didnt think back on it, its not sad, the dude was there for merely a few minutes.
Just have your character look like Oliver, change the name to Oliver, and ignore everything between meeting and fighting Oliver. Oliver is now the main character.

It's like the music is saying "man things are really going to shit" but in a more subtle and sombre way. Tho we never spoke a word to one another, it was as if we knew exactly what each other was thinking.... then Io slipped off a ledge fighting a white halbert lost and you died saving me from the boss... I managed to solo last bit of HP and thus continued on with the story. At the cost of a good friend, Thank You.

Oh, this? It's called "onigiri." It's a kind of food that's easy to carry around. Not that there's any point in eating food for a revenant. Although we may thirst for blood, we never grow hungry. ...Still, I think that makes eating all the more meaningful for us. We fight, we drink blood, we revive, we fight some more... Our lives are pretty much one endless loop. But every time you go around, you almost forget... that we were all human once. If I completely lost the memory of my human past, I wouldn't be me anymore. I'd just be... something in the shape of me. I'd look like a revenant, but on the inside I'd be no different to the Lost. What's the point of living like that? I served in the army, back before I became a revenant. We always used to eat these things when we were out on missions. I guess... it helps me remember. It was a miserable time, but I made some good friends that I shouldn't let myself forget. This stuff doesn't really taste that great, but eating it always reminds me of those friends. So, I guess you could say it helps me stay me. It's been an important companion in my life!
The memory sequence of Louis visiting Cruz in the hospital is one of my favourite "cutscenes" in gaming. And, though the game was a bit obscure about it, I should have discovered it earlier, (The sheer number of things to put in your build kind of kept my mind occupied) but I remember freezing for a few seconds when I noticed her blood code was the same person as the Queen's *bodypart* just without the sad blue eyes, and instead of giving incredibly powerful offensive gifts, giving ones that offer self sacrifice for others.

When I played this game, I initially thought that it wouldn’t be any different from Dark Souls. I was proven wrong immediately when I killed Oliver. From then on, I vowed to listen to every single memory and ended up getting the achievement for restoring all memories on my first play through. However... after finishing the DLC... I kinda feel empty, as this game captivated me for months as I worked to 100% complete it. This game will hold a very special place in my heart that VERY few games will ever even come close to, the raw emotion that is packed into these fragments of memory is enough to make even the toughest out there cry... Cheers to the absolute god who ran me through the entire cathedral to get 100%, somehow surviving the last journey and two Mistles while I was on literally 1 HP with no regeneration. I cried when i realized that the memories we were going into belonged to someone, and that every single lost we killed along the way was someone as well with there own memories. That shit hit me. Olivers personal story was terribly sad but when I knew what was going on I was like "damn..."
The Song is sad alright but i dont know if my heart could take as much damage as it did with the combination of "Dweller in the Dark" ending + the Song "Amber Journey" ... that caught me off guard and went right into the feels.
I really liked this track. And yeah. We hardly knew ye Oliver... but damn if I didn't mourn all the same. Especially... considering that the Lost... can't even find their peace in death...

This is an amazing track. Usually I'm not a fan of linear "walk from one end to the other" sections in games, but this game honestly made me savour each and every one of those moments, and this track was a big part of the reason for that. Well, that and the fact the stories are genuinely tragic and compelling.
The part I like the most in repairing the vestiges is this soul crushing theme with all the memories being heard. Basically all of it, but I stay around a lil more to listen to it

Imagine going through this whole game with your friends, having been through all the memory of the lost feels and all, and Code Vein 2 puts a huge fucking feels spanner in the emotional works, by corrupting Louis, Yakumo, Mia, Murasame, etc. eventually leading to you as a protagonist having to slay each and every one of them... And their Vestiges will be memories of you with them in the previous game... No no! The feels are enough from this game 😭

After Oliver got attacked and his mask broke, then turned into the Lost, killing him then walking through his memory was SO sad... *"Someone needs to be sacrificed"*
You know, it'd be funny if it wasn't so heartbreaking, but the way Oliver turned Lost is very similar to what happened to us during Operation Queenslayer. Our mask is knocked off and we're almost immediately overwhelmed by the miasma, forcing Jack to try and mercy-kill us, similar to how we had to put Oliver out of his misery.

"Memory of the lost" Searching for the memory of the lost people through the entire game is really emotionnal. And it is the only way to have the "good" ending too. Beautifull song that make a lot of sense the more you progressing.
This fits Oliver's character SO well. A flunkie like so many others that had no choice but to turn to murder, and in the end, even if it all was worth nothing, he found himself again to lend a helping hand to those that needed it, and maybe fill that nihilistic void with something, maybe, just maybe of a worth he believed in.

To this day I have no idea why it took me this long to look up the OST just for this track...emotional damage I suppose from my seemingly hundreds of playthroughs I've done and in all that time one thing has remained ever constant: there is one memory corridor I truly wanted to see more than anything else, The Queen's the Monster itself: I wanted to see if she truly felt she had no choice but to do what she did, much has been considered over the years and now here I am still longing to know the answer, despite Cruz's eternal struggle the feelings I wanted to know were the Queen's, at the end of the day I suppose the answer matters little...maybe one day we'll get a sequel and I might get my answer...not holding my breath though.
Well, it was leaked a while ago that there was a Code Vein 2 planned by the company. And from what I understand of the story, Cruz was fighting against the mental manifestation of her particular BOR parasite, and it was too powerful for her to win against. And so, it fully took over her body, while she still had enough mental fortitude to be more or less conscious, but unable to fight back as she watched her body kill and destroy everything she held dear to her, likely for years upon years, before she was taken out by the player and finally able to do something other than watch, as the manifestation lost enough of its hold on her for her to create the Attendants. And that really makes her story all the sadder, knowing that she could only watch as this absurdly powerful malevolent force used her body to kill her own family and friends, over and over until most of them would have lost themselves.
@@omnitroid8390 Glad to see that there is a sequel in the works or at least planned at this point, that said I would like to add something to my earlier point since you pointed out a few things to me...while I do understand the entity known as "Queen" may have been acting on pure instinct, and with louis saying "when the Queen...When Cruz Frenzied" I don't think it was a true frenzy the queen exhibits certain characteristics that don't match the typical lost frenzy, (As I understand them anyway) during the fight against Jack and the player she was capable of rational thought and only really zeroed in on the player once your Mask filter (I cant remember the name of these things, I'm not sure if it was ever really specified), was damaged and you became vulnerable, so because of all this I choose to believe that the Queen was a much more complex entity then we know.
@@Dark2857 It’s a purifier mask. I believe one of the dudes in the cell when you first start the game explains it if you don’t immediately go for the mask and then the ladder. Also, of course the queen would be more complex than a lost. They were trying to create, instead of just another BOR parasite, a sort of end-all be-all parasite. And with them not knowing what the hell they were doing, I wouldn’t doubt for a second that they accidentally, in addition to making an incredibly powerful lost, made an incredibly powerful lost that had more comprehensive power than just “kill things”. Remember, Jack also said that the Queen could twist other lost into doing her bidding and protecting her. So project Queen, I believe, was specifically made to try and control all of the lost, and potentially bring them back to their humanity. Or if nothing else, to try and use the lost as weapons, like Mido’s own experiments seem to have led to. Essentially, they made a “Queen” of the lost, so it only makes sense, to me at least, that it would have some form of rudimentary consciousness, if not full consciousness.
This song is insanely well composed in all of its variations, something so incredibly emotional which grips us. This is more than just a song from an anime game. It's a real piece of genuine and heartfelt music.
This game is a fucking masterpiece. THIS game is what brought me into Souls games believe it or not. Brought me into a series that gave me over 10,000 hours of pure joy and happiness. Sometimes pain lol. I will truly never forget Code Vein.
I legit came back after finding louis and before heading out to the surface, seeing him gone, thinking he awaits us later in the game, only to finding him went insane, damn i gotta say the first parts of the game was the best in this game
One of the best themes from one of the best souls likes. I’m saying this as someone who had played and beaten all but one Fromsoft souls game and has played majority of the Soulslikes. That means this places over the likes of Nioh and The Surge for me! This game was just something special and originally I disliked the anime art style but now love it.
The last game that actually made me cry and feel for a character was in Final Fantasy Crisis Core. The game made me feel like I knew the characters in there for years. Then once I played Code Vein, flashbacks and emotions started rushing through me and found myself tearing up for a character I barely knew for 10 minutes but felt like years. I’m late to comment and play this game, but I don’t regret it one bit. This game will always have a spot in my heart for years to come. 😭❤️

So I just learned Go Shiinna had a hand in the obscure klonoa 2 ost, one of the the greatest in video games. Seriously, go listen to some of the klonoa 2 songs even if you haven't played the game.
I cryed for every tragedy that happend in this game because each has his honerfull , honest and unique background. The hardest was Emilys and Aurellias , heros die whit a smile in their face . RIP Oliver Collins
After finally beating the game I’ve felt both happy and sad, happy to have finished my journey but sad to have loved and lost so many along the way, even though my quest is complete I yearn to continue the adventure as long as possible before I soon reach my inevitable demise, my only regret was failing to save myself from myself
Spending 40min with an unknown person fighting the gilded hunter dying more then 6times and I wanna thank you the same guy keep joining me and beating it together. Wish this game have some sort have friends system or chat so I can thank every one of them without just leaving them everytime

Every new vestige is a total stunning new experience, the music, the ambientation, it never gets old. Glad they only use this theme there, for now. I'm scared of listening to it here or it will lose impact, but it's too much...

Not far into this game, but each dying words from the characters tug at my heart. Makes me scared each time I pick up a vestige.
Then the story did its purpose.
It reminds me so much of Nier Gestalt.
Your choices no matter how simple they may be, Effect how it ends and gives you one fucking hell of a feels trip.

Oh, this? It's called "onigiri." It's a kind of food that's easy to carry around. Not that there's any point in eating food for a revenant. Although we may thirst for blood, we never grow hungry. ...Still, I think that makes eating all the more meaningful for us. We fight, we drink blood, we revive, we fight some more... Our lives are pretty much one endless loop. But every time you go around, you almost forget... that we were all human once. If I completely lost the memory of my human past, I wouldn't be me anymore. I'd just be... something in the shape of me. I'd look like a revenant, but on the inside I'd be no different to the Lost. What's the point of living like that?
I served in the army, back before I became a revenant. We always used to eat these things when we were out on missions. I guess... it helps me remember. It was a miserable time, but I made some good friends that I shouldn't let myself forget. This stuff doesn't really taste that great, but eating it always reminds me of those friends. So, I guess you could say it helps me stay me. It's been an important companion in my life!

The memory sequence of Louis visiting Cruz in the hospital is one of my favourite "cutscenes" in gaming. And, though the game was a bit obscure about it, I should have discovered it earlier, (The sheer number of things to put in your build kind of kept my mind occupied) but I remember freezing for a few seconds when I noticed her blood code was the same person as the Queen's *bodypart* just without the sad blue eyes, and instead of giving incredibly powerful offensive gifts, giving ones that offer self sacrifice for others.
Cruz started it all she deserved what happened

When I played this game, I initially thought that it wouldn’t be any different from Dark Souls. I was proven wrong immediately when I killed Oliver. From then on, I vowed to listen to every single memory and ended up getting the achievement for restoring all memories on my first play through. However... after finishing the DLC... I kinda feel empty, as this game captivated me for months as I worked to 100% complete it. This game will hold a very special place in my heart that VERY few games will ever even come close to, the raw emotion that is packed into these fragments of memory is enough to make even the toughest out there cry... Cheers to the absolute god who ran me through the entire cathedral to get 100%, somehow surviving the last journey and two Mistles while I was on literally 1 HP with no regeneration. Then left so I could rest before the boss fight.
Also cheers to the person who joined me for that boss, you died at the last second and I was able to land the last hit. I’m so sorry I didn’t save you. I took the gift off my bar by accident.

I cried when i realized that the memories we were going into belonged to someone, and that every single lost we killed along the way was someone as well with there own memories. That shit hit me. Olivers personal story was terribly sad but when I knew what was going on I was like "damn..."
The Song is sad alright but i dont know if my heart could take as much damage as it did with the combination of "Dweller in the Dark" ending + the Song "Amber Journey" ... that caught me off guard and went right into the feels.
It is touching for sure. Especially if you are playing and very interested in story
This is the best track in Code Vein hands down. It even tops the main theme in my eyes.

This is an amazing track. Usually I'm not a fan of linear "walk from one end to the other" sections in games, but this game honestly made me savour each and every one of those moments, and this track was a big part of the reason for that. Well, that and the fact the stories are genuinely tragic and compelling.
The part I like the most in repairing the vestiges is this soul crushing theme with all the memories being heard.

And their Vestiges will be memories of you with them in the previous game...

You know, it'd be funny if it wasn't so heartbreaking, but the way Oliver turned Lost is very similar to what happened to us during Operation Queenslayer. Our mask is knocked off and we're almost immediately overwhelmed by the miasma, forcing Jack to try and mercy-kill us, similar to how we had to put Oliver out of his misery.

"Memory of the lost" Searching for the memory of the lost people through the entire game is really emotionnal. And it is the only way to have the "good" ending too. Beautifull song that make a lot of sense the more you progressing.
This fits Oliver's character SO well. A flunkie like so many others that had no choice but to turn to murder, and in the end, even if it all was worth nothing, he found himself again to lend a helping hand to those that needed it, and maybe fill that nihilistic void with something, maybe, just maybe of a worth he believed in.

This song made me remember how I always wanted to learn piano. been stuck in "survival" mode for a year or two now and this reminded me to live a little tbh
To this day I have no idea why it took me this long to look up the OST just for this track...emotional damage I suppose from my seemingly hundreds of playthroughs I've done and in all that time one thing has remained ever constant: there is one memory corridor I truly wanted to see more than anything else, The Queen's the Monster itself:
I wanted to see if she truly felt she had no choice but to do what she did, much has been considered over the years and now here I am still longing to know the answer, despite Cruz's eternal struggle the feelings I wanted to know were the Queen's, at the end of the day I suppose the answer matters little...maybe one day we'll get a sequel and I might get my answer...not holding my breath though.
Well, it was leaked a while ago that there was a Code Vein 2 planned by the company. And from what I understand of the story, Cruz was fighting against the mental manifestation of her particular BOR parasite, and it was too powerful for her to win against. And so, it fully took over her body, while she still had enough mental fortitude to be more or less conscious, but unable to fight back as she watched her body kill and destroy everything she held dear to her, likely for years upon years, before she was taken out by the player and finally able to do something other than watch, as the manifestation lost enough of its hold on her for her to create the Attendants. And that really makes her story all the sadder, knowing that she could only watch as this absurdly powerful malevolent force used her body to kill her own family and friends, over and over until most of them would have lost themselves.
@@omnitroid8390 Glad to see that there is a sequel in the works or at least planned at this point, that said I would like to add something to my earlier point since you pointed out a few things to me...while I do understand the entity known as "Queen" may have been acting on pure instinct, and with louis saying "when the Queen...When Cruz Frenzied" I don't think it was a true frenzy the queen exhibits certain characteristics that don't match the typical lost frenzy, (As I understand them anyway) during the fight against Jack and the player she was capable of rational thought and only really zeroed in on the player once your Mask filter (I cant remember the name of these things, I'm not sure if it was ever really specified), was damaged and you became vulnerable, so because of all this I choose to believe that the Queen was a much more complex entity then we know.
@@Dark2857 It’s a purifier mask. I believe one of the dudes in the cell when you first start the game explains it if you don’t immediately go for the mask and then the ladder. Also, of course the queen would be more complex than a lost. They were trying to create, instead of just another BOR parasite, a sort of end-all be-all parasite. And with them not knowing what the hell they were doing, I wouldn’t doubt for a second that they accidentally, in addition to making an incredibly powerful lost, made an incredibly powerful lost that had more comprehensive power than just “kill things”. Remember, Jack also said that the Queen could twist other lost into doing her bidding and protecting her. So project Queen, I believe, was specifically made to try and control all of the lost, and potentially bring them back to their humanity. Or if nothing else, to try and use the lost as weapons, like Mido’s own experiments seem to have led to. Essentially, they made a “Queen” of the lost, so it only makes sense, to me at least, that it would have some form of rudimentary consciousness, if not full consciousness.
This song is insanely well composed in all of its variations, something so incredibly emotional which grips us. This is more than just a song from an anime game. It's a real piece of genuine and heartfelt music.
Haven't played Code Vein in a couple of years, barely remember anything from the plot, but I always come back to this for the feels
This game is a fucking masterpiece. THIS game is what brought me into Souls games believe it or not. Brought me into a series that gave me over 10,000 hours of pure joy and happiness. Sometimes pain lol.

One of the best themes from one of the best souls likes. I’m saying this as someone who had played and beaten all but one Fromsoft souls game and has played majority of the Soulslikes. That means this places over the likes of Nioh and The Surge for me! This game was just something special and originally I disliked the anime art style but now love it.
Humanity isn't worthy of the Emotional masterpiece that Code Vein is!

I was leaning toward telling Oliver I didn't want him to join me, I still feel guilty I came so close to abandoning him.

The last game that actually made me cry and feel for a character was in Final Fantasy Crisis Core. The game made me feel like I knew the characters in there for years. Then once I played Code Vein, flashbacks and emotions started rushing through me and found myself tearing up for a character I barely knew for 10 minutes but felt like years. I’m late to comment and play this game, but I don’t regret it one bit. This game will always have a spot in my heart for years to come. 😭❤️
I never play the game, but i like the tunes. It reminding me about my past that i was looking for but my memory is blurry could'nt find it. I had a terrible past since my high school year i want to forget it.
So I just learned Go Shiinna had a hand in the obscure klonoa 2 ost, one of the the greatest in video games. Seriously, go listen to some of the klonoa 2 songs even if you haven't played the game.
I cryed for every tragedy that happend in this game because each has his honerfull , honest and unique background. The hardest was Emilys and Aurellias , heros die whit a smile in their face .

After finally beating the game I’ve felt both happy and sad, happy to have finished my journey but sad to have loved and lost so many along the way, even though my quest is complete I yearn to continue the adventure as long as possible before I soon reach my inevitable demise, my only regret was failing to save myself from myself
Spending 40min with an unknown person fighting the gilded hunter dying more then 6times and I wanna thank you the same guy keep joining me and beating it together. Wish this game have some sort have friends system or chat so I can thank every one of them without just leaving them everytime

You can see how the people in the flashbacks try to survive and help others while holding on to hope only to see yourself how there hope and life is slowly fading away or broken by evil
Every new vestige is a total stunning new experience, the music, the ambientation, it never gets old. Glad they only use this theme there, for now. I'm scared of listening to it here or it will lose impact, but it's too much...
