Hi Sally.. Im Kent... July 18. I hit a deer on my motorcycle. Im home now in a wheelchair. Im 66 , been riding since i was 10. Never had a bad accident or broken any bones. I have a broken pelvis (front and back).. compound broken lower left leg. Fractured 2 ribs in my back right side and broken left hand. I spent 8 days in the hospital trama unit. 2 weeks in a nursing facility before i could go home. The first few days in the hospital were bad. PT helped me sit up in bed. The pain was almost unbearable. Every movement i paid for with pain... after a few days tho.. With a lot of help and learning to use a slide board i could get in/out of a wheelchair. I almost passed out that first time. Each day gets a little better. I measure progress in baby steps and less pain. I got moved to a nursing facility when i didn't need the level of care of the hospital. 2 weeks of PT. Getting good at getting in/out of the wheelchair OT getting in /out of the bathroom.. I got to go home. My wife is my angel. Im home with her and my 2 golden retrievers Its gonna be 3 months of zero use of my legs. Im lucky to be here, I feel the same as you. Our life changed in a couple of seconds. Its gonna be a long recovery. BUT we will Thats something to think about. My prayers go up for you....
Kent, you just made it into my morning prayers. Stay the course. We don’t bounce like we used to (I’m 68)🫤. I started riding about same time as you if I count the minibikes we made out of lawn mowers. Stick with the “physical terrorists”. They know how to get us old guys moving again.
Wow, we have such similar injuries! The first time on the slide board was one of my scariest experiences! Took a while to get used to, now i can get to the commode without the board and just scooting over a towel or small pillow. That board is hard to shove under with a bad arm! I am also bilateral nonweight bearing. so glad you are home with ur wonderful wife and puppies! Wishing u a smooth recovery and pain management 💚 that is definitely the hardest part! God Bless and praying for ur recovery. Thank u for the comment. Learning to not put ur feet down is the wildest thing. Hoping u get great PT/OT and walking with no permanent complications!

Love your positive attitude - it truly makes the difference! 10 years back I was in your place: concussion, 4 broken ribs and a punctured lung. The doctors and staff at UNC Hospitals were simply fantastic!! The barely-remembered helicopter ride was cool, too. Oh -and 100% on the helmet! Every doc that came by examined it closely as it was crushed badly -but better it than my skull. Thank you for your comprehensive updates! Keep getting better!!
Wow so glad you made it thru that to live another day. Those helicopter rides are wild!! lol i am amazed looking at the helmet that i did not get more hurt. Positivity and recovery go hand in hand. Appreciate it 💚

Ended up going to AMI to learn more about Harleys, still was using a cane and had more operations to go, but I never looked back...just forward. Hi 👋 Sally, and hubby, so pleased to see you now moving around a little bit, It’s going to be a slow recovery, The main thing is, you are being well looked after, over the past two or three weeks I have seen a lot of people riding about in the countryside and on the motorway with With just a pair of shorts on , Yes, they got crash helmet on, I even left comment about this on somebody else’s channel, And somebody passed a remark saying they have the right to wear whatever they like, But they’re not the ones who got to pick up the pieces when you don’t come home, luckily for you Sally you have made it through and you will get better, I wish you all the love and support to you both from Phil France,

Hey Sally. So sad to hear about your experience. I am glad you are still here. Love and prayers from a thousand miles away in Australia. Get well soon. Noel.
From the looks of your helmet, you can legitimately keep the " Iron Head "moniker. Blessings on you and your family, stay positive, this too shall pass. You and your husband have proven your adaptiveness so I've no doubt you'll come out on top of this too. 👍✌️
When I had mine, the hospital in georgia was super cool, instead of them telling me how dangerous bikes are and asking if I learned my lesson, they asked cool questions about riding, told me encouraging stories about other patients who recovered and got right back in the saddle, even loaned me a tablet so I could order my replacement parts and even signed my helmet...you are in my prayers and I promise it gets better and you will be back out there riding in no time.
I didn't start wearing a DOT full face helmet until I started wearing glasses. Nine months ago, I crashed my ironhead. I didn't know it until afterwards when I saw the gash mark on the helmet that My head actually hit the pavement. I guess the glasses was a good thing? So glad you're alright. Attitude is everything when it comes to recovery. Keep your chin up and God bless.
💚🙏😁 appreciate it!!! Yeah the only reason i didnt have my full face on is because of where i mounted the tachometer between my legs and needed to see it for the final break in miles. What a wild trip. Definitely full gear and full face from now on 💚
wishing you a speedy recovery. this video gave me some major flash-backs to my stay in a local hospital , in 2020. i know what you are going thru and probably will be going thru. best wishes and looking forward to the next vid.
I have survived two serious crashes in my riding life. Thank the good Lord I was wearing a helmet each time. Just know you will probably have some PTSD to deal with when you start riding again. I certainly did. It is a slow recovery process and I will pray that everything goes well as your body heals and mends itself. I am thankful you have a loving husband who supports you one hundred percent in your life. I know you will do everything to keep getting stronger, it'll be tough, just grit your teeth and keep digging. You will overcome and get to the other side. Prayers for you and your husband!
💚🙏😁 thank u so much! Yes the emotional impact hasnt hit yet while the physical recovery is still going. Will be interesting but one day at a time, sounds like u overcame that after trauma. The Lord has and will continue to provide strength. Appreciate u! 💚🙏
Get well soon,,Sally . Keep moving - do what the therapist ask it helps in recovery and it shows "you" the day to day progress. Can't wait for the homecoming .
Oh definitely getting my workouts, and feeling better everyday! 💪💚 i had to get all the contraptions to go over a toilet and shower and all that lol crazy simple but effective equipment for all this lol

Thats awesome, a supportive hospital staff makes all the difference 💚😁 appreciate the support!!
Definitely full gear and full face from now on 💚
Godspeed Sally 😊
