What I need out of life is a full length feature film with the premise of VotV. The creeping dread, the 'not-so-alone' unease, set in a remote forest base. It's the perfect horror recipe
So Castaway, but with psychological horror instead of island survival. Presumably without the third act / ending, to leave you on a cliffhanger and ponder on what probably happened next, since the unknown is scarier than knowing. Also, maybe a tad bit of comedy here and there for the first act, and maybe the start of the second act until it drops it entirely, since VotV is somewhat goofy here and there.
The fact that I’ve been playing the Story mode to day 34 and counting, and there are STILL things in this game that I had no idea about baffles me and I love it.
I tried this out myself. I was able to kind of escape the map via the delete key on the number pad, but if there's something more here I can't find it :( It's really easy to get stuck, and it's hard to explore when the game crashes after a time in the place.

Seeing those skulls move was probably the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Like it made my skin crawl when they started twitching and then rolling. Especially when most objects in this game don’t move unless you touch them
It's such a smooth little sequence that it's jarring how it contrasts with the way things normally move in the game - goes to show it's not skill holding the devs back, they can do stuff like that VERY well. It must be artistic vision that they don't choose to lean into it.

it's called a sphinx riddle, my friend. It's very convoluted, unintuitive and frankly bullshit (all good puzzles are given hints to their solutions) but from what this game is trying to go for, sphinx riddles makes sense. You're dealing with something "other worldly" so having solutions to puzzles would "ground" the player in reality. So the puzzles have to be bullshit in order to sustain the façade of being "spooky" and "other worldly". Hope i didn't ruin the magic. Great game, still!
The skulls going from stationary to slowly picking up speed, then spinning is such a cool and well-executed little sequence. I imagine it must have been an absolute pain in the ass to script effectively. It's so well done - at first you could be mistaken for assuming it's just a little physics jank, until it becomes more exaggerated and then the circle grows. I'm genuinely curious what was going on under the hood to make that happen so effectively.
