The best part of these screenshots is that there's always an obvious bit of nonsense in te foreground, but then there's almost always some additional weirdness happening in the background too. Also Joel's influence on this game and its community is incredible. The Vargakeleshroomba Anti Alien Alarm was PEAK.
I think the ability to actually build, with a grid snap function, could be fun. However it would also take away from the helplessness of being stuck in a defenseless base
Sandbox? I do same kind of stuff on my 78 day from boredom. I still can't get 4 Kerfurs off the hooks at tree. There is a wall covered in nailed wooden alien cutouts. I have amalgamation of 6 walking mannequins attached to a single roomba and held by baloons from tipping over, scaring away antibreather somewhere near the cave. And of course a tower of MREs I never eat works as soulless monolith.

It is a simulator game, you work at a satellite array and can scan signals from space. You manage the satellites and discover many things from the void of space through them. You can discover stuff, whether through the signals or the map, you can also decorate your base. As time goes on new stuff can happen, there is an """ending""" day while playing but it changes as new updates are rolled out. Story hasn't been finished yet but the creator is very much still actively working on the game.
I’ll just keep watching VotV content from afar and never ever ever play this game because it has basically every phobia wrapped into one package. I’ll even just donate money to Dev, but I’m never playing this. No matter how adorable the arirals are.

Feels like VotV has the potential to become a good base building game as well as a signal simulator/horror game
