My heart jumped the first time I heard you. I was 13. Today it still jumps every time I see you, hear you in interviews or in the supermarket on tv. its all in your eyes. where your soul lives
I got a call from my buddy Carl who yonder in the video. It was the night before the concert and he had an extra ticket. I brought my 50x zoom video camera and do glad I did. Remarkable evening. Carl and I talk about this night like it was Xmas and New Years rolled into one night.
He may not be doing concerts anymore but he's still producing great records and his music will still influence many others thank you Neil and God bless you. you are a remarkable man
Neil’s entrance is so spectacular there are no words to describe it!!! Neil is and always will be the one and only as far as I’m concerned. There is ONLY ONE thing on my bucket list...and that is to meet Neil and shake his hand and let him know how much his music has meant to me!! There is only one Neil and that is the fabulous NEIL DIAMOND!!👍👍👍🎼🎼🎼💜💜💜
I really like the man. His songs have inspired my life. I think that if I had never seen him live, I'd of adored every single song he wrote. He makes me feel like he wrote them just for me. Like Neil's taken my life and put it to music. That's much more than I think I've ever said to anyone. I am so very happy to be able to write about it on here. Thank you so very much for this moment Sirs & Ma'ams & People & Mr. Diamond. I wanted to say that I believe Neil Diamond somehow got into my world, wrote it down and sang it to me. Haven't you ever had that happen to you? Neil Diamond, Sir, Thank You for finding a way to write and play and perform the music, songs, and instruments of yours so absolutely beautifully written down and sung so well, with extraordinary ease, talent and skill. You make it seem so easy. I enjoy the whole world of you standing there, looking at me and my god, the stories you know pour out of you into me. I love it hearing you sing live, but maybe more especially I love it when I'm more listening to The Albums at home turned up loud and memorizing every word and note and orchestration you put down on vinyl [shall I say] while I sing the songs with you. Thank you. You have made me so happy. Thank you. I love you Live. I Love you on plastic or vinyl. I enjoy the being you bring out of me. Thank You, thank you, thank you. Kindest Regards, Mike Kerasotes ✨✨✨ September 30th, 2024 ⚡🤗⚡
I love Neil ❤️❤️❤️ Saw him in concert 1st time when I was 14 and he was 27, Dane County Colliseum in Madison, WI. Last time was his 50th anniversary tour, in Denver. I could tell he didn’t feel well. A week later he announced his retirement from touring due to Parkinson’s disease. Heartbreaking, just heartbreaking. I love Neil, always have, always will ❤️💖💗💕
I have loved his wonderful way he let's his audience know he truly loves seeing the way is audience loves him as a person and entertainer he's genuinely a man who loves what God wired him to do in this world rich or poor he has always been neil it took alot of God's grace I have the deepest respect and love for him and his work he deserves the star on the walk of fame and he is deeply honored to receive it he is a humble man and that's why he is respected by all he comes in contact with through out his career God bless him and his life with Katie the love of his life I wish them well and pray for there well being . I am happy to be apart of being able to enjoy his music all these years.thank you neil diamond
LOVE NEIL FROM THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM BRISBANE AUSTRALIA AND SO SAD HIS HEALTH HAS PREVENTED HIM COMING BACK IN 2018. A LEGEND AND A GREAT ENTERTAINER ONE OF THE BEST EVER. BEST WISHES DEBBIE
Such a shame that maybe the greatest artist, writer, performer there is, is retiring. Writing great songs not just for himself but for other artists as well.
Thank you for posting. I'm sorry I never got to see him in concert, but it is easy to see from this video how great his live concerts were. Thank you for the views of the audience. It really captured the connection Diamond makes with the audience. What a thrill it must have been to experience that in person. One can feel that connection in the many other videos of his live concerts and in sport events singing Sweet Caroline. :)
Thanks so much for your kind words. I got a phone call from my pal Carl the night before the concert. He had an extra ticket. I used a small handheld video camera that also takes quality pics. The zoom on the camera is 50-1 and I got terrific shots and vids. So far this little video has over 70k views. Very serendipitous that on a phone call I got a chance to capture a brilliant performance of an artist that was huge when I was a Soph in high school. I’m 73. Btw the last ten seconds of Carl singing with two other people ( lot of people miss it as it’s after the concert ) was a Neil Diamond cover band lead singer that we met before the show getting a bite to eat.
. . . Interesting reply(?) … Just ‘where’ have you been for the very best part of 50 years since Neil started touring-?.. in the region of 2,000 concerts in the U.S., Canada and Mexico City. About another 500 in the U.K., Europe, Australia , New Zealand and South Africa … I have read this self-same comment so many times and ask the same question - “ Where have you been living - all those decades-?..” My clear belief is that you are most probably ‘stateside’ and if Neil wasn’t actually setting up his touring rig at the end of your street - or at the very least in your actual neighbourhood … well then it was just ‘too far to be bothered’ … Am I correct-?.. As a I6-year young ‘un I trained 600 miles-plus from the far north-west of England to London and back for my first chance to see Neil in concert (there were no arena-sized venues in the U.K. until the mid-80s - except London) and the following weekend, bussed the 8 hours down country to just north of London to see him at the most stupendous setting (and concert) of and at Woburn Abbey. Just possibly the greatest ‘Neil in concert’ of the ‘mere, 27 I attended between 1977-2017. I ‘crashed’ that very cold night in a bus shelter and hitched the 250 miles home , alone, the next day. Made it to The Greek Theatre in L.A., in 2012 to celebrate 40th anniversary of the greatest live album of them all - ‘HOT AUGUST NIGHT’. Plenty of familiar ‘U.K’ faces there also - making a 12,000 mile round trip . . . So, I have to ask again: “ Just where have you been living in NOT being ‘able’ to attend even just one … ‘Neil Diamond in concert’ ???
Thank you for posting this video. Neil Diamond is the consummate entertainer/performer. When you have been to a Neil Diamond concert, all others pale by comparison. He is getting me through this "Made in China" virus.
What a fun concert! The audience was almost as entertaining as Mr Diamond and his band. Why would Mr Diamond want to retire from coming to work and kissing the ladies? That's quite a incentive to rock until you drop! LOL Thank you for sharing online. Blessings
. . . Interesting comment … The truly ‘greats’ … NEVER go into ‘it’ - for ‘the money’ … They do so because they are compelled to do so; something deep inside their heart’s and mind’s - and soul’s … that tell’s them to “ believe in yourself “. In the interests of accuracy; Neil struggled for 8 years in ‘Tin Pan Alley’ and The Brill Building in New York from about 1958 until 1966; limiting himself to a $1:35 per day for ‘sustenance’, renting an attic garret and “an old, beat-up piano” … when he realised that he needed to tune-in to his own internal word’s & music - rather than trying to sound ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ of the moment. A young wife at 22 in 1963, and his two daughter’s within a few-short years added to his determination. Many, many rejections - and short-term or cancelled contracts; including being signed by the mighty CBS in ‘63 also - and ‘let go’ after a couple of singles failed to chart. Must have been especially pleasing to Neil to be re-signed by CBS in 1973 - on a $1 million per album, ‘10 album’ contract. He remained with that label for 37 years. Perhaps my favourite ever ‘Neil Diamond quote’ is the following: When asked about all of his immense success and ‘Sold Out’ concert tour’s - worldwide, what pleased him the most-?.. his reply?.. “ I never missed a pay-check “. Because Neil knew that without all of those very talented people around him; who, most tellingly, hardly ever left his employ, made ‘Neil Diamond in concert’ the work of art that it was - in every possible way: ‘best sound’, ‘best lighting’, ‘best staging’ - and the “ greatest band in the land “ to quote Neil directly . They, and he were worth every effort required to be ‘in the room’ also - on those, far and away, greatest night’s of this life. No-one else even approached his and their level’s … ‘Other worldly ‘ in so very many ways.
I was at that concert too, but unfortunately we couldn't understand anything he sang because the sound was so bad. Hopefully it will be better in May. Can't wait!
