I saw Neil Diamond when I was a young boy with my mom back in the 80s. My mom has passed on not long ago but listening to Neil brings her closer to my heart.
I won two tickets to see Neil in the early 90's from a radio station, and it was 100 times more than I ever expected. Knew every song and all done so well.
I don't know why this song makes me cry every time.....esp with my favorite singer ever, Mr Diamond singing it. Longing for and missing the old days gone by I guess 😢
Hey I'm 82 same age as Neil and have always loved his version of this great song. Have to say that to this day I still really don't know love or life at all but I'll keep trying. Thanks Neil.

Ja, ich war auch in Hamburg dabei, leider war es das letzte Mal, daß ich ihn nach 23 vorangegangenen Konzerten in 6 verschiedenen Ländern sehen durfte; hatte vor, im folgenden Jahr nach Perth, Australien zu fahren, weil dann dort sein möglicherweise letztes Konzert gewesen wäre, aber die AUS/NZ Tour 2018 wurde wegen seiner Gesundheit abgesagt. So war dann im Okt. 2017 in London sein allerletztes Konzert, zu dem ich hätte fahren können. Ich ärgere mich noch heute, daß ich es nicht gemacht habe. Einmal Neil Diamond Fan - immer Neil Fan, er ist und bleibt der Beste!

Ich denke so oft an die fantastischen Jahre ab 1996, in denen er mich regelmäßig auf seinen Konzerten in ganz Europa "beglückt" hat!!!!!

And a mere 23 other times in between ; Woburn Abbey in '77 and '05 , Earl's Court in '84 , Wembley Arena in '89 and '99 , Sheffield Arena in '92 , Newcastle Arena in '96 , '99 and '02 Hampden Park in Glasgow in '08 and '11 and the aforementioned Hydro in Glasgow in '14 and "17. Last but perhaps THE most extra - special , his last two of five concerts (very sadly for ever) at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in August '12 , celebrating the 40th anniversary of ' HOT AUGUST NIGHT '. A 37 year dream and wait and hope ... come true. Thanks to 'I.G.' in London for ALL your help over the '99 to '17' years with those best in-the -house seats . He and his group are almost all in the 250 to 400 N.D. concert attendance echelon. Quite simply put ... " These were the best years of our lives "- " The very best years of our lives " to quote Neil himself.

'Birmingham N.E.C. in '84 (3 concerts) and '89 ; very sadly indeed this was my beloved mum's last concert with Neil after her first at Earl's Court in London on June 28 '84. I so vividly recall bringing 'HOT AUGUST NIGHT' home as my first LP on 7 June '75 and she looked at that magnificent, resplendent picture of Neil with that then mass of hair and she sort of scowled in a disapproving way (!) How very little did we both know just how very much she would come to love Neil. I mean r e a l l y l o v e Neil . Like her two son's. That album was played before my leaving for school and often were the times that I returned to her listening to it herself. And 'Serenade' and 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull ' et al . Life changing word's&music. After our there-and-back (a 500 mile round trip) to The N.E. C. on 12.11.89 , Neil was so stupendously exhilarating that she could hardly speak the next day ! So in awe of his voice , incomparable style - not forgetting the " Greatest Band in the World " and crew !.. And Manchester Arena in '02 and '11 . THANK YOU , Neil ... You did indeed give " SO VERY MUCH OF YOURSELF " and we can never repay you . A l l b e w e l l .

2017. In 2018 he announced that he has Parkinson’s. You can see it in his posture and slight puffiness and hear it in his voice. Makes me so sad. People have to get old, but to have grapple with a disease like Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s or some other disease is a bit much. Neil is incredible ❤
The very first time I ever heard this song was on Neil's Live at the Troubadour album. And I loved it! I actually thought that it was his song . He was that great singing it. I also love his version of Chelsea Morning, another song I thought was his.

Neil had a somewhat famous drug bust back in the 70s. It got expunged from his record. He was a big pot head. Just listen to Crunchy Granola Suite (it isn't about cereal). I still think that damned Barry Manilow set him up on that drug bust.

neil how are you Can I ask you what you can drink to get your voice box right again? I would like to sing again just to myself when you sing but something has gone wrong with my vocal cords. Suspect that trauma must have a lot to do with it. Would like to know about voice exercises and probably also medication to get the vocal cords back in order. Is there a miracle??🤣😘
