Learn the different ways to melt Candy Melts candy to make mouth-watering candy-coated sweets like cake pops, dipped fruit, pretzels or lollipops. In this video, we show you how to melt Candy Melts candy using a microwave, a double boiler, and the Wilton Candy Melting Pot.
Some HELPFUL TIPS about using Candy Melts candy:
    - Whatever method you use, make sure that your bowl, pot and utensils are completely dry
    - Any water could cause your candy to harden and streak
    - Make sure not to overheat your candy by melting on too high of a setting or for too long
    - Candy Melts candy is ready for molding, dipping or drizzling when the texture is smooth and resembles cooked pudding
    - If candy becomes too thick, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening per 10 oz of candy; 2 teaspoons per 12 oz. You can also use the Candy Melts EZ Thin Dipping Aid.

Such a simple thing to do, yet hard at the same time.
I remember when I first started melting Wilton's candy melts, they clumped up and turned out awful.
Turns out that it was user error and I just didn't know what I was doing. :D
Years later, and I learned a bunch of tips here and there on how to melt candy melts efficiently.

I found chopping the discs up into smaller pieces and nuking in 15 second increments to be the best when just doing it in a bowl or squeeze bottle but the squeeze bottle blows air into the mold near the end and I had sprayed a glitter inside which got dispersed, so I just chalked it up to experience and ate them.

Can you make the candy melts shiny? I’ve used these candy melts before but the colors are flat especially the red ones. We also just purchased 4 bags for a birthday party and none of them were thin enough for dipping. I’ve used others in the past and I had no problem with them. Thank you for the video.

I will be returning the unopened bags to the store. Very pleased with your customer service. I also found out that there is a date on the bags. The year is the first 2 numbers on the lot code. The one bag I had was from 2017 and was way out of date and I just bought it last week from Joanns. I guess Joann's and Michael's do not check the date on these bags. Nor do they sell a lot of them. Hope this helps another customer. I was told the new bags made in 2019 have a "used by date" on the bag.

@@preciousmocha78 damn I feel you, it’s awful! I recommend the new line of candy melts at Michael’s…it’s called Sweet Tooth Fairy, or you can get the Hobby Lobby brand candy melts. Because Wiltons has F$&@ed up their chocolate formula.

Hey so i melt my candy melts at 30 seconds but it gets really hard after melting the first time, when i tried 15 seconds it softened just a little bit at first and then on the second time of 15 seconds it was hard and couldnt be mixed. Can you assist?

First said temperature is important, but doesn't tell you the temperature range. Then said once you introduce water is no return for your melts, but actually save it at the end by using it in recipe like ganache. like what?

Josie Medina i've tried that and the consistency is still so thick. I've watched so many of these videos and they make it seem so easy 😭😭

I have some bags 2 years old thaat still melt beautifully...Biggest mistakes people make too much heaat - too long....use heat of glass bowl to melt candy. Water is not your friend;;;Nothing can be wet or dam...bowls, spoons etc

    • @wilton
      @wilton  ปีที่แล้ว

Absolutely true, Mary, water in this case is definitely not your friend! We also make a melt warmer that's great for keeping a consistent temperature: www.wilton.com/candy-melts-melting-pot/191002008.html

I'm litterally boiling Candy melts in a double boiler on the stove and they are not even close to getting smooth

Try adding a teaspoon at a time of shortening or vegetable oil! Make sure to not overheat them as well, as they will seize. If you have trouble still, please contact customerservice_crm@wilton.com.

Hi, can ya'll make candy melts that is easier to melt instead of making us do math and science to melt them? This is not "easy for beginners" as you claimed.

Those are the most disgusting candy melts I’ve ever tried. The vanilla ones don’t even melt they clump up. I wouldn’t recommend.
