    On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
    If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

    Apparently, the Soviets copied the B29 so exactly that all Tu4s had a half white/half green access tunnel between the cockpit and the rest of the aircraft. Boeing had simply run out of green paint when they built the captured aircraft.
    They also copied a small hole in one of the wings where a Boeing worker had mistakenly drilled a rivet hole in the wrong place.

    The Tu-4 was copied from an early block B-29, so the plane inherited a lot of the faults of those early Superfortresses, which were rectified in later production models. But the copying was very exact--Stalin wanted an exact replica of a B-29, and except for stuff they had trouble sourcing or reverse engineering, like the R-3350 engines, it pretty much was, right down to the Boeing logo on the control yokes.

    • @alanluscombe8a553
      @alanluscombe8a553 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Did they really have Boeing logos on the yolk? Wonder why. Did they want to play it off like they didn’t build their own?

    • @StuartKoehl
      @StuartKoehl 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Excessive literalism was a safe way of dealing with Stalin's directives. It's not uncommon in some cultures. Back in the 19th century, captains of tea clippers would often have new suits of clothing made by expert Chinese tailors for a fraction of what they would have paid in London. One day, a captain brought in a pair of white duck trousers that had worn through in the seat, and been patched with some gray fabric. "Make me a new pair of trousers just like these":, he told the tailor. He came back two weeks later to be handed a magnificent pair of white duck trousers--with a big patch of gray cloth on the seat.@@alanluscombe8a553

    Part of the reason it was heavier was that the Soviets were using the metric system rather than the imperial system. They didn't have sheet metal for the skin in thickness that matched. It was either slightly thinner or thicker. They went with thicker.

    • @seanmurphy7011
      @seanmurphy7011 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      And that is why the metric system is studier than the freedom system.

    • @GlowingSpamraam
      @GlowingSpamraam 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      you are aware metric and imperial is just a measuring system
      half an inch is just 12,7 mmfor example
      i say this as an apprentice machinist who uses both, there is nothing about metric (or imperial) that would require you to use a thinner or thicker thickness than you would need, you just simply convert and then make a plate the same thickness in the other system
      so if i have a half inch plate and i want to make that in metric, i convert half an inch to metric and make a 12,7mm plate
      you can do this for extremely thin thick or anything in between plates and just convert whatever measurement you made it in to another measuring system
      if i have a sheet metal plate of a certain thickness, whether im using imperial or metric wont change how thick that plate is, just the number and system describing the thickness
      seems there is alot of misinformation going around of the mig-23 with alot just making no sense/being dreamed up

      @@GlowingSpamraam First off, he's referring to the TU-4, which was reverse engineered. Second, typically you're not changing your entire sheet-metal production process for 1 plane. You're using what's available. It was metric, and it was thicker, so that's what they used. Pretty easy to look this up.

    • @fkboyStalin
      @fkboyStalin 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love watching these F4’s so much. Especially your Vietnam type missions you do. Those are my favorite videos for me personally. Which is weird because I have no particular reason to enjoy that era of warfare. I’m a Marine grunt that was in at the beginning of the GWOT. I have called in a few air strikes on some enemy, but other than that I have never had any association with the Wing.
    I enjoy all the videos though really, it’s been a long time since I’ve missed even a day of your posts. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that for me being a ground pounder my whole life, I like seeing what the wingers deal with, especially the aviators. For me, your videos show a side of the military I didn’t really deal with much. And your explaining things like strategy and how to use your aircraft strengths to exploit the enemy’s weaknesses are really informative and interesting to me!
    Thanks for all the work you put into these videos. And respect for the thousands of hours you’ve had to have played to reach the level of competence that you have. That is serious dedication and discipline! No joke! 🙏💪👍

    I watched a little doco once wherein it was said that the top speed of the MiG 23 was unknown because it would come apart before reaching it. Meaning, the plane would just keep giving as much speed as the pilot asked for until the wings wouldn't stay on. Sounds kind of nonsensical but there it is.

      @@GrowlingSidewinder The Flogger can reach its max operational speed of M2,35 with the wings swept to 45 deg, so at full sweep of 72 deg it can go much faster than that, but it would suffer structural damage due to overheating.

    Yo GS, Mission accomplished. Not a good day for the Jolly Rogers :( The Phantom does wear its paint well. Or maybe in that era squadron history and pride was more revierd. Now all squadrons planes are grey except one usually. Thanks again enjoyed the history lesson. Have a pleasant day. Cheers.
