It works!! My deaf cat can't get out now. Bless you sir!! For those who don't want to use a beer bottle for weight, you can use a little silk bag filled with glass rocks. Works great.
This guy Is GREAT!!! I watch hundreds of Yt vids, this man has it all, direct, to the point , easily understood and....FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY!!! GREAT JOB MY MAN!!!
I truly enjoy KISS inventions. One thing I will have to change is using sand for ballast instead of water for the ballast container to survive winter. All the same, brilliant in it's simplicity! Thank you.
This is genius... What a good video! I would put one more of the rollers on the other corner of the frame (right side) so that you can put the bottle out of the way behind the rolling direction. But in general the video is one of the best DIY I have seen! Congrats!
Loved this simple solution! Thank you very much for sharing. I had all the parts in the house so it was free!! Good thing because there are 5 sliders here and dogs that constantly open the screen doors.
first let me thank you for such a great video! Just in the nick of time, I have chickens and my miniature poodle Annie has a favorite, Dorothy. Just recently, Annie and Dorothy conspired to let Dorothy in the house, not once, but several times a day mind you LOL.. I found Dorothy in the bathroom, in the grooming room, in my bedroom among other places. You see, Annie could open the sliding screen door to the back of the house where the hens free range. I'm sure that Dorothy asked Annie what was in the big box (house) where Annie was able to come and go as she pleased . I looked for a way to 'automatically' close the screen, found this video and literally 10 minutes later, using this video and materials I already had laying around the house (and a tube made of an old pen really does work great), I had a Dorothy chicken free home. Want to Thank You!
there has to be a lot of friction for this to work, since gravity wants that bottle to accelerate at 9.8/m^2. I've been trying to build something like this on a professional level and I am using springs and/or shock cord to counter act gravity's acceleration...hopefully it works!
Nice one, simple effective , interesting guy with a good face an persona for a diy TV show, or as an AD for Bud during superbowl hope Budwiser fixed you up, .. you could also have the bottle sliding inside a pvc tube , that would keep it straight an smooth but that would make it a $2.5 door closer
very nice. but it looks kind of ghetto with a bud bottle dangling from a string. i should do a vid: how to keep the screen door shut: Close it behind you. Zero dollars. hehe

Fantastic, and well presented with a good sense off humour
Works great! Even on a glass sliding door! Thanks! Was looking at $50 - $!00 dollar products!
When I retire, I'll be just like this guy.
Any more DIY tips from this guy? This has been one of my favourite videos on TH-cam for years
a man after my own heart.......love this video..ciao

Excatly.I tied this and it closed so fast that it broke my lock .
That's a neat idea! Thank you!
I have a little Papillon that opens the screen door, but he doesn't shut it. I will definately be doing this. Thank you for the idea...
As a girly girl, I would probably decorate that with flowers, glitter, and bells... And yeah, 9gag sent me here as well lol. Cool idea!
So cool! I'll be installing something similar right now!

This video was awsome.
You could create a little 'path' for the bottle so it doesn't swing like that.
SMART! Thank you 😁
Fantastic idea.
I want to do this but the door I go in and out slides from the inside of the other door not outside, any idea?
Great idea, thanks!
Good job! Cheers!
Brilliant😀
Wow mind blowing..!

A GREAT VIDE0 THANKS.
I like the idea, but my screen door doesn't open or close that smoothly. It would just get stuck. Doesn't matter how clean the rails are.
needs new rollers
