Great info. I used to leave brushes in the water and the worst problem is that the paint on the shaft can peel off while you're painting. Nothing more annoying than having the chipped paint fall on your wet paint.
I’m so glad you mentioned using a brush cleaner and not some weird bogus stuff to clean them like other artists have recommended to make bad habits out of. The only thing I’d add to this is that if it’s bent out of shape to use the brush cleaner and conditioner to reshape the hairs in between uses and just leave it on the brush to dry. Also another tip is if you don’t have the original plastic protective tube that your brush came with, you can use a plastic straw that’s been repurposed to do so instead. If you don’t have any, you can take a sheet of paper and roll it around the brush in the shape of a tube and tape it together like a paper straw. Doing this in thicker paper or rolled a few times to make the tube thicker works great for traveling with. I’d how many times I’ve used this trick when moving as to not ruin my brushes during our move.
And store natural hair brushes where they can't be eaten by moths, etc.! Many years ago, I lost a number of good brushes this way before I realized what was happening. I'm grateful for the high-quality synthetic bruses we now can find, but there are still many natural hair brushes being made.

Good to know! Especially since natural hair brushes are usually the most expensive.
Is there a way to repair the brushes
I've heard that you can dip the bent/frayed bristles in hot water and it restores the shape, but I haven't tried it so can't say if it works.
