I work in an ER and there are multiple doctors who use the iPad. While obtaining the patient's symptoms and complaints, they are able to order the meds and lab tests necessary without having to walk back to a computer terminal somewhere far away. It's quite convenient.
I hope everyone embraces these silly things, selling off their other systems to fund it. Then I can stockpile laptops, which I actually find useful. :D Good rant Charlie. @matthauke - I suspect you've been reading @charlie_brooker, which is NOT Charlie Brooker. Here's one from his real channel (@charltonbrooker): "You’re right, fanboys. It’s a fuss over nothing. It works perfectly well if you lie it on a desk and jab at the screen with your nose." Macbooks are perfectly fine laptops, equivalent to a Lenovo or Toshiba, etc.. They have pretty crappy keyboards, but other than that they're fine (a bit overpriced, but not as much as they used to be).

The article, as far as I remember, states him loathing Apple but inevitably buying into them. Which to be fair most people do and end up hooked on their products so no doubt he has issues with them, but he still owns them so it's a little ironic. I can't even see this video anymore since C4 have blocked it. I don't even remember the content :/
@matthauke - Not true. He just says that he's fed up with his Sony Vaio and "might buy a Macbook". Which is really a PC (x86 Intel CPU, etc.), and can run OSX and Windows (both of which let you run the software you want). Chalie's main issue with Apple (same as any real computer geek) is the way they're killing their own legacy in open computing and pushing iOS toys, which are crippleware designed to lock in their clients and milk them. Tools (OSX) vs. fashion accessories (iOS).

And if dissatisfied you can always return the phone, i personally have an iphone 3gs and wouldn't buy an iphone 4 because i agree it's rubbish, but every company has it's dud products that come along, i didn't claim apple invented gui i ment they were first to use it as in first personal computers that were distrubted in volume, i didnt have enough space in the comment to fully explain.

But do you realize no one forces you to buy the products apples successful because it sells what people want. i like apple because they have gd business sense and produce quality products, they lead the way in technology. They bring out new & exciting things. they listen to their customers & provide excellent support. Microsoft just isnt keeping up infact apples revenue has already over taken microsoft's its the bigger company now.
There are always going to be people who don't like it when things are mainstream and popular. Whether it be a band a movie or a tech company, people always think they are being "underground" or "non-conformist" by hating on what's popular. It's human nature to be critical of new things. I personally don't own an ipad but that's only because I can't afford one. I do think apple makes a fine product though.

They have taken things that have been done by others before and were the first to integrate a lot of things well. That doesn't mean they invented.. it means they took lots of existing stuff and executed it well.
