Talk to you soon
Let's cut Steven Ndukwu some slack here. He was simply highlighting how Cape Verde's European aesthetic might surprise some, not implying it's a European country in Africa. The influence is undeniable, and many African nations embrace diverse cultural influences. Let's focus on appreciating the beauty he showcased rather than nitpicking semantics.
it’s sad how people are not watching the video to understand my point. They just rush to the comment section to comment
Surprise some? That won't surprise anybody. What's so special about it? Did Namibia's European-German aesthetic surprise him too? Which African country has no European influences?
He needs to do better .
@@StevenNdukwu- You have to recognize that even the Cape Verdeans don’t like being called European-like.
Read their comments here. Young African ppl today want to be given credit for their vision and the great result of their work and not being told this is Dubai-like or Europe-like.
We understand the TH-cam algorithms and the need for views but we must respect Africa and the way we portray and talk about her!
Hi Steven, you are doing very commendable work. One can understand that your intentions were well-meaning. At the same time, there is also valid feedback from all the comments so far and I hope you pay attention to them.
As an African I am little disappointed by how you portray everything nice as European. Its like you were trying to say Cape Verde is too good to be African hence your heading.I understand the history but you can still appreciate the country as an African country with its own uniqueness
Yep
Right? I am so tired of those titles "Can you believe this is Africa"...jeez...stop already...can he just stop projecting his own ignorance on others..
As a caboverdiano i agree !
This should be a learning moment for Steven. I understand the TH-cam system of trying to get traffic but cape Verde should be portrayed as African. People will still watch the video. An headline of Africa's hidden gem would have been better.
Could you imagine if Americans built it. It would be amazing.
we capeverdeans dont feel like cape verde is anything like europe and it doesnt feel like europe!
This is africa!
❤❤❤
✊🏿
Exactly!
CPV doesn’t need a European tag to validate its value, nor a blatantly sex tourism imagery. So much plantation mentality.
Exactly. Way to disrespectful to say it's like Europe
I agree. Why is everything “good”, “nice” equated to European?
This place is just one of the MANY treasures of the African continent.
I mean Africa is typically portrayed in the media as “undeveloped” and “third world” so whenever people portray it how it as nice and beautiful it’s equated to Europe which is generally just more developed. It’s not really a fault of racism or anything against Africa but more just ignorance
@@neptune.1692
Africa has bigger cities than new york and is much more developed than what they show in the media.
@@ryonworthy7990 yeah im not denying that, im just saying people don’t know about that stuff which leads to people who believe Africa is underdeveloped
Cape Verde was built up by the Europeans. How can y’all just completely ignore history.
@@LouisvilleSlugga-zg7ybname one African city that was not built by the Europeans except in Ethiopia and North Africa? Name just one? Ignorant!
Seriously! Your mind is still Colonized .
Most Africans minds are still colonized, even as they try to look down on us in the USA. But, that's the trick of "Psychological Colonization" to look down on another group of Black people, to be looked at more favorably by Europeans....
Yes!
Yup it’s digusting
Why can't an African country just be beautiful and not be compared to Europe? or its beauty attributed to Europe?
Exactly, he's not marketing to us, he's marketing to them
Exactly
Name 3 that are well run, efficient, low crime rate, low corruption, good facilities and infrastructure
Im European and I dont like Capo Verde and other "republics" I respect South Africa, Rwanda, Burkina Faso. Ibrahim Traore and Malema are great men.
I also asked the same question..that title is an exhibition of some high level of inferiority complex and disrespect
As a born and raised Caboverdiano ! Thank u very much for this beautiful video... That said! i really dont like the title !! We are a beautiful AFRICAN country a little bit outside of Africa. We fought for our independence for a reason! We consider ourself africans and nothing else! Being watching your content for a while and yes its top notch !!
Would like to read more of your country’s histories over the centuries in any language. Newspapers that cover local people’s interests. Any official government sites that outreach to citizens of Cape Verde. Any books that cover the history of the languages that were/ are specific to the country. I always knew that Cape Verde is one of Africa's underated countries
I'm of black Caribbean heritage - both parents born in Jamaica. I'm British born and raised. I now live in the Netherlands. Cape Verde was my first ever destination in Africa. I spent a week on the island of Sal. Incredible trip. The beaches there blew everything I know in the Caribbean away and for me the whole vibe was just so restful. I will back in May 2024!.
Hit me up; I could visit again
Why are you comparing the two? Typical divisive mindset.
@@user-dv3kq3rm4h Everyone compares something to something else. It has nothing to do with mindset. Everyone is different. Now that I have 'discovered' Cape Verde - if I just want a peaceful (cheap), break by a beach, I will go there. If I want to fun and party, I will go to the Caribbean. We all make choices. Now, stop trying to be clever.....
@@StevenNdukwuGreat Job bro. When they mentioned their IG handles, I suggest you should have written it on the screen so we can check them out because that was the essence of them mentioning it. It’s hard to hear it well and spell without it written in your subtitles.

@@dee7847 It's still not a country built by black people. You're happy as long as they are the majority dependent on white people ? Lol.
A nation is determined by it's core. Without black people, cape verde would still exist. Without white people it wouldn't, so who's at the core of it ?
Being Cape Verdean, this vlog brings me a mix of emotions - happiness yet a sense of discomfort. It disheartens me to see everything from Cape Verde being labeled 'European' as if it's a mark of quality meant to attract tourists. Why can't we embrace and take pride in our African roots instead of attaching a European label to it? Our culture is rich, diverse, and uniquely ours; it should be celebrated as African, not overshadowed by a European narrative. Let's honor our heritage with the pride it deserves.
Sorry, I hurt you. I simply meant that the country had and still has European influences

I think laughing at the prisoners for the length they survived in the camp was quite insensitive.
Hello I liked all untill that part where both are laughing about it ,same on both of them.
I was watching the video on a television where I couldn’t read the comments. I had to use my phone to see if anyone commented about that insensitive moment where he laughed about someone surviving for 2 days. To say the least, I was disappointed.
BEYOND insensitive.. I was mortified..
That was very insensitive, I would think he knows better and to the Lady/Guide, those prisoners are the reason why you can walk around free today and have an opinion.
I felt shame as an African having two young Africans laughing hard at death. Shame on them!

This is not to be celebrated because all the tourists who go there are on all-inclusive packages. Therefore, the locals are not benefiting, and the government doesn't collect taxes either because everything stays in Europe. The same is happening in Kenya, South Africa,...Tanzania..basically everywhere on the continent. This must stop
Exactly. I hate all inclusive hotels. People don't go out of their hotels and the locals don't get to have money.
But locals work at the hotels and provide most services

why do you hate Europe but you migrate here?
@lolicon4
The reason why many migrate is because there are more monetary opportunities.
If many of these countries provided the same financial opportunities that are in the west, many people would never migrate to the UK, USA, Canada or Europe
Many are leaving beautiful countries, lovely climates, great food and amazing culture to migrate..its literally for material opportunities

The majority of people disagreed with the title which made it look as if everything good belonged to Europe.
That's just your ignorance and inferiority complex. The country does actually look like Europe. Not because it's "good" but because they used the same city planning and architectural styles as Portugal.

I am dissapointed that you have to put this title on your video and why Cape Verde needs to be “portrayed as European look alike” no…. Cape Verde is not European, it is Cabo Verde. It has 10 islands and all of them
have their uniqueness. Actually they have it all…. mountains, nature, city life, dunes, desert, beautiful beaches…. Cape Verde is a gem, Cape Verde has beautiful people, Cape Verde as the best weather, no malaria, no dengue, no mandatory vaccines… and please don’t only go to all inclusive hotels…. rent a small hotel, an apartment, food is relatively cheap and you experience the real traveling. I will always remember the words of my friend Kaka from the island of Maio. Gracia don’t go to a AI or very touristy island, because you will always be with europeans. he was right
U are right but u have to understand Africans bcz CNN and BBC didn’t show African beauty they always hide an peoples allover the world believe that Africa has nothing
Cabo Verde, an awesome place but invaded by European tourists not because the locals don't care but for the VD under the sun. Now the situation is that they can control the country by money right? That's the F*cking game! And create business, build hotels etc. The power of money by the West!
So why Africans didn't invest there and tourists come there before the West instead to go in European countries all the time for fun?
So dear Africans as an African I tell you: don't cry and blame our bro if he puts down a satirical title that makes sense! Is the volume right?
By the way, good sensibilisation bro for the majority of our brothers being always in the darkness of our resources in africa 😉!
