Great content as always, customer pay is the future. It's going to be like medical insurance, the only advantage we have is we will have the vehicle until the bill is settled.
with the amount photos we take any more there isn't nowhere enough storage in ccc as a oem cert shop we also have to have all the repair procedures attached to the file . then you run into restricted data amounts on ins co portals. throw in todays lack of field personnel lack of training or just plain inability to talk to a claims rep on a phone.
Left the industry 5 years ago and I was making great money. I was telling everyone under 40 to leave NOW!, (then). Collision deterrent systems and reconfiguration of expensive replacement parts in typical collision areas through the engineering process was creating a monster of consistent totals. There are other small factors here but at the end of the day I was warning everyone we are the blacksmiths of today and we will be eliminated. Re educate yourself in something you can apply your skills in. Do not be the last fool standing.
I have a question about you photo policy. When the insurance company calls and ask you to do more work, do you charge them a fee for more pictures and more documentation.
Typically no, its just getting them to be very specific on what is needed and why. "If I get you X, then you will pay Y? No point in sending in anything without agreed expectations
I don't think that you have to charge insurance company for additional photos.your case as repairer is in the hand of insurance for decession. They can even arrange jiont re-survey if they feel so. I am working in UAE and here we have SOPs for photographs which should be must accompanied with estimates.

admin fees the more admin required the higher the charge. i tend to send the usual vir photos on any possible total loss. saves both of us time.
