Jeri is a rare find, both a great actress and very beautiful in one package. Often actresses are one or the other. She is hugely talented as an actress, and added a lot to the Voyager stories and kept that series interesting for the second half of the series.
well she was a 7 of 10 :P to me but i never saw or knew her before voyager so she was past her prime. i have no clue or anything to say about any of her other attributes. i had a crush on Kes, i was sad when i saw that picture of Kes years later, that chick didn't age well...
Still waiting for the "secrets that nobody knows about" part. Nothing even the furthest from total Trekie didn't know and know well. The character arc is impressive as most Star Trek main charactes are and Jeri deserves the accolades attributed to her.

Yeah, I get that 7 of 9 will always be her iconic legacy. Still, like Nimoy before her, it was her OTHER roles that let her demonstrate her serious acting chops. I salute her 7of9 ole. It is her perpetual pension. Yet it's her subsequent roles that impress me most. Many talented folks are restricted by t he roles they're offered. She has had more opportunity to shoow her range and talent than most - but still (I suspect) nowhere NEAR her actual potential.
What I dislike is how she was pitted against those who had hard won their positions already, obviously she’s talented there’s no doubt about it. Men absolutely did exploit her for her looks, and turned her into the target of what was wrong in the misogynistic nineties. I loved her performance in Proof of Life where I think we truly saw how authentically wonderful she is
She too had hard won her position, there are many beautiful actresses, that she would have to compete against. It is not fair to say that because she is so beautiful that she did not earn her position.
Shame the make execs pitted her against show lead Kate Mulgrew when they were both trailblazers in the industry for the better treatment of women in the creative arts

Ryan was the surname of her first husband, when they divorced she carried on using the name.
